Ever since Remus mus was old enough to remember, his dreams have been connected to Sirius'.
Of course he didn't know who Sirius was when it first started, he was probably five years old and it was after the Greyback's attack.
In his dreams Remus saw a black haired boy, just about his age. First the boy used to run around a beautiful garden laughing while he chased some butterflies. It was a huge comfort to Remus after a full moon.
But as time passed, the dreams where getting darker and the other boy used to cry in the corner of a big room while a woman yelled at him.
Remus felt really sorry for the little boy but as time went by he believed that he was just something his mind had made up.
Once he was eleven years old and got on the Hogwarts Express for the first time, Remus met a boy who was very familiar to him, but Sirius Black, the boy's name remus figured short after, was from an important family so he had probably seen a picture of him somewhere.
Remus became very good friends with Sirius and two other boys from his dorm, James and Peter. They did everything together and it felt great to have friends for the first time.
But the dreams continued and Remus couldn't understand why he always dreamed of Sirius.
He always woke up when Sirius had a nightmare even before the other boy was fully awake. And the same thing happened to Sirius. That created a strong bond between the two of them. One was always there for the other.
The dream connection was also how Sirius found out about Remus' "furry problem". Later he told James that he read something on the library because he couldn't explain it to him.
Years passed and the Marauders, as they called themselves, because "no James, no one else calls you guys that" said an annoyed Lily Evans once, ruled hogwarts and became so close that it was hard to see one without the others.
But Moony and Padfoot had a relationship no one could quite understand and no one really ever tried, it was beyond explanation and even they couldn't understand it most of the time.
On Sixth Year Moony realized he was in love with Sirius, it wasn't a big moment or anything. One day Remus looked at him and a word flooded his thoughts. Love.
Padfoot soon realized his feelings too and they started dating and everything was perfect for them.
They talked about the dreams several times but they never found out why it was happening and why it didn't happen to anyone else.
When their years at Hogwarts were over, the war had already begun and everything was scary and unsure.
They grew apart. Secrets and distrust poisoned they love and more than anything their bond.
One day, after a long mission given to him by Dumbledore, Remus came home to an empty house and a phone call that broke his heart in a way that shouldn't be possible.
After many hours crying on the floor, a house full of broken things, Remus went to bed wishing he would die in his sleep so that the pain would stop or at least be bearable.
But the world was never merciful to Remus Lupin and he woke up the next morning. And though he thought it wasn't possible it hurt more than the day before. It was too real. He ran to the bathroom to throw up.
Lily and James, the best of them. Killed by their best friend. The love of his life.
Oh and little Harry. Remus started crying again when thinking about that small baby that would never again be hold by the two people who loved him the most.
The day went by and Remus thought about ending everything more times than he likes to admit today. He wanted all the pain to stop. Everyone should come back and said it was all a bad joke.
And then the night came.
For the first time in many months, Remus dreamed about Sirius. And he was in Askaban crying in a corner just like he had been all those years ago.
He noticed Remus and got up and ran to him crying even more.
Remus took a step back just before Sirius could reach him. They were both crying at this time.
Remus was so angry. But he was mostly angry at himself because seeing Sirius like that was breaking his heart all over again. He just wanted to hold him and forget about everything that had happened the past few months.
Sirius started yelling and Remus wasn't really listening until he said Peter and murderer.
He couldn't understand. But Sirius asked for a chance to explain and when could remus deny him something?
Once everything was explained to him Remus reached for Sirius and promised him he was going to get him out of there.
Why did he believed him? The same way he had realized he loved Sirius all those years ago. He didn't have to think about it. Once Padfoot, his Padfoot, told him he hadn't done it, Remus couldn't understand how he could have ever believed that he had.
He woke up suddenly in his bed all alone, and went straight to Dumbledore.
The old man, didn't quite understand how Remus knew Sirius was innocent but he also did. He informed the Ministry and Sirius was given a fair trial and submitted to the Veritaserum potion.
Has suspected, Sirius was not guilty and the Aurours, now knowing that Peter was an Animagus, were able to track him and put him in Askaban.
After everything was sorted out, Harry came to live with uncle Padfoot and Moony , who gave him all the love in the world and never let him forget how brave his parents were and how much they loved him.
Their hearts didn't stop aching and there wasn't a single Halloween they didn't cry in each other's arms. But with time things got a little easier and their love for each other held them together all the way through.
