The Tragic Hero In Remnant
Summary
(Inspired by BurgerNoTomatoes on Wattpad, Promised(reluctant) Victory in Remnant)Being a hero is the worst. The human spirit reacts differently from tragic stories to stories with happy endings. If you end up with a happy one people will riot and hate you. And if you get a tragic one, chances are people will make fun of you.So no matter what your life will be nothing but a joke. And this is the base line of my belief, being a hero is stupid and so is anyone who wants to be one.So why the hell do I have to be the worst kind of hero!!!

Rooms, Walls, And Punishment

“So this is our room.” Corin ran his finger over the windowsill and looking at the dust on his finger, “I wonder what the last time this room was used…”

“Last year.” The man who had led the trio to their room said before leaving.

“Gods, did they even clean this place before they brought us in?” Atlas said, glaring at the dust.“Unlimited Cleaning Works.” Atlas chanted, his hands began to glow before a duster and broom apeared in his hands.

“…” Silvia and Corin had to resist the urge to laugh as Atlas quickly and thoroughly clean the small room.

Afterwards, Silvia studied the beds. “Next order of business, in the words of a carrot man, we need to build a wall.”

Atlas and Corin looked at eachother, ““why?””

“I like you guys and all, but I also like my privacy.” Silvia explained.

“Oh!” Corin nodded, “Your right we need to have some sort of divider between us and you. But with what is the question.”

Atlas groaned, “Gods why me… Corin, do you have a rune or something that could make wood?”

“Huh? Uh…” Corin began to think, ‘Yo system, do I?’

[You have one that can excel the growth of plants, which would work on a dead piece of wood.]

“Yeah, I’d just need a small piece of wood, why?” Corin asked.

“The gods love Fate UBW Abridged, I have a neat little skill called [Maybe He’s Actually Jesus.] It gives me the skills of an expert carpenter.” Atlas sighed, digging through his large suit case, bringing out a small wooden block, “This good?”

“Yeah.” Corin grabbed the block and channeled his aura into his fingers and began to write on the block. “Rune of Growth.” Corin sat the block down as it expanded, “there ya go.”

Silvia flopped onto her bed before looking at the other side of the room, “You guy’s side of the room seems a bit small.”

‘Yeah, cause you took half the room for one person.’ Corin deadpanned before looking at Atlas and his side of the room, the beds were almost pushed together. “…yeah we are not having our Minecraft beds together.”

Atlas stopped working on the wall, looking at the bed situation. “…one second.” Atlas walked over to the beds and got to work, a cloud of comedic dust covered the aera before it faded away, revealing bunk beds. “Not ideal, but decent.” Atlas nodded. “Now-”

“I CALL TOP BUNK!” Corin yelled, using Gae Bolg as a vaulting stick to jump over Atlas and land on the top bunk.

“…I hope you eat a devil fruit and jump off into the ocean.” Atlas scowled.

“Tell me to kill myself like a normal person.” Corin teased, blowing a raspberry.

“Soooo mature.” Atlas sighed.

“We’re kids, what’s wrong with being a little immature Silvia shrugged.

“We’re also supposed to be heroes.” Atlas added. “Not by choice but still.” Atlas started working on the ‘wall’ again.

“Doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun.” Silvia grinned, “Now what kind of wall are you making?”

“A folding wall so that any time you want to talk to us or anything all you have to do is slide it to the side.” Atlas spoke as he began to focus intently on the wood. It was obvious that he wouldn’t respond for a while.

“You know, I wonder what the others are doing, classes don’t start until tomorrow so.” Corin scratched his chin in thought.

“Who are the others?” Silvia tilted her head.

“Oh yeah we only met today, yesterday and last night I met a couple… intresting individuals, became friends with two of them. Enemy with one, and neutral with the forth.” Corin spoke. “They we’re at the ceremonie earlier. I think they were called Team RWBY… wait…”

““THATS WHAT THE GOD SAID THE WORLD WAS CALLED!!!”” Silvia and Corin yelled at the same time, breaking atlas’s focus.

“Why the hell are you yelling?!?!” Atlas, ironically, yelled.

“We figured out the original main characters of this world.” Corin smirked.

“Team RWBY?” Atlas deadpanned.

“Yeah- how did you know?” Corin asked.

“I saw the first few episodes in the real world, didn’t like the animation so I never watched it again.” Atlas shrugged before getting back to work, “Why were you talking about those girls anyways?”

“I’m friends with some of them.” Corin smirked. ‘Which means I have more friends than you. Bitch.’

[The rivalry with Atlas is… quite the relationship.]

Corin shhhed the system.

“Why do I feel like your insulting me in your thoughts, Corin?” Atlas deadpanned.

Corin shrugged.

“Well your the one that’s going to be in the shithole anyways.” Atlas glared.

“Huh?” Corin began to think, he could be referring to his luck…

“Your friends with the main characters, which surely means something bad is going to happen to-” Before atlas could finish Corin began to laugh, “why are you laughing.”

“Dude, I’m a tragic hero. My life is gonna be shitty no matter what I do.” Corin laughed

“Why are you laughing about that?!” Atlas glared. “Are you happy that your life will be shitty?!”

Corin stopped laughing, “Why should I make my life worse by worrying about the inevitable when I can live my life to the fullest, using the money the… it can give me for doing quests I can make my life even by a, segment, by a centimeter, I can make it better. Sure I’ll probably die, but I’ve died once whats another?” When Corin stopped talking he saw the faces of Silvia and Atlas. They looked worried, “What’s that face for?”

“Corin… your belief… it’s kind of worrying, didn’t you say that you didn’t want to be a hero?” Silvia questioned.

“Huh, yeah I did, what of it?”

“What you said… it sounds like as long as they give you quests with monetary rewards you’ll do what they say, don’t you want to be free? Your willing to be a puppet for the gods amusement? AS LONG AS YOU GET SOME FUCKING CASH OUT OF IT!?” Atlas scowled.

“Oh, we’ll let’s put it this way, what was your punishments for failing to become a student here?” Corin sighed.

“Uh, I had no punishment.” Silvia laughed.

“Umm, I would have digestive issues for a week.” Atlas added.

“Mine was death.” Corin said with a straight face, “if I didn’t become a student here I would of died straight away.”

Silvia gasped and Atlas winced.

“Yeah, so sorry if I want to live my life as carefree as possible.” Corin laid back, leaning against the backboard of the bed.

The tension was thick enough that you couldn’t even cut it with Excalibur.

“I’m- I’m- sorry-” Silvia tried.

“Oh gods, no need for that.” Corin sighed.

“…” Atlas sighed, “Well… on other news I’m done with the wall.” Atlas lifted the wall up, folding it open, “How do you like it?”

“Is it real-“ Silvia was cut off by Atlas using his eyes to gesture to Corin. “Oh uh- it’s good, thanks.”

Corin yawned, “it’s, like, 10 pm now, I’m gonna go to sleep.” Corin jumped off the top bunk and grabbed his pajamas, wolf embroidery and all. Going into the bathroom and changing.

When he made it back, Silvia and Atlas had set up the wall, changed into their pajamas, and Atlas now laid on the top bunk.

“Hey! That’s my bunk!” Corin yelled, pointing.

Atlas shrugged. “You left without leaving something of yours on it, you know what that means?”

“…” Corin glared.

“It’s up for dibs.” Atlas smirked.

“I hope you get archers' luck.” Corin snarked, begrudgingly getting into the lower bunk. “And by the way, this makes it easier to do this.” Corin kicked the underside of The top bunk, causing Atlas to scream.

“Go to sleep Atlas, Corin.” Silvia scolded from behind the wall.

““Sorry Silvia.”” Corin and Atlas said simultaneously, ““Goodnight.””

“Goodnight guys.” Silvia responded .

“Kill yourself Corin.” Atlas whispered.

“You as well.” Corin whispered back.
