Chapter 65

Prompt: One bed

It was a straightforward task. Watch over Hermione Granger while she toured throughout wizarding Europe, dazzling them with her brilliance on elf rights, or was it wolfsbane? Now that he thought of it, did it have something to do with campaigning? Honestly, Draco had stopped listening after he found out the name of his assignment, mind lost to fantasies he’d long repressed from his time at Hogwarts. A crack of apparition snapped him out of his daze as Hermione appeared in the hotel lobby and Draco couldn’t help but gawk.

Before he could compose himself, large amber eyes met his and with a shy smile, she walked over to him, her hands anxiously pulling at her robes.

“Malfoy!” Hermione exclaimed, slightly out of breathe, “err- it’s been a while! I wanted to thank you for doing this. I find it quite silly for all of this fuss but Shacklebolt insisted and was ready to pull the plug on the whole tour-”

Draco raised his hand to cut her off.

“Granger, don’t worry about it,” he paused, again lost in her eyes, “it’s my pleasure.” His voice caressed the last word salaciously.

Hermione’s eyes widened as a red blush creeped up her neck. She gave a small smile before breaking eye contact and walking toward the desk. Draco groaned internally.

Great, he thought, one minute into his assignment and already he could barely control himself. Get it together.

Draco zoned out as Hermione checked them in, focusing on his occlumency with a determination he hadn’t had since Voldemort. Hermione was chatting with him nervously as they walked toward the elevator and Draco had to remind himself he should be surveying the area, not her arse.

“Draco?”

His given name pulled him out of that particularly vivid train of thought.

“Sorry Granger, I was - err- making sure we were not followed.”

Hermione looked around the completely empty hall and her lips quirked up in a small smirk.

“Right, so what do you think?”

Draco raked his mind to try and come up with an answer vague enough to prove he was listening and not daydreaming about her body. “

Whatever you say, Granger,” he managed, hoping that appealing to her swot tendencies would save him.

A beat passed as Hermione assessed him.

“Oh! Well- alright then!” an unidentified emotion flit across her face before she turned away from him.

She pushed open the door to her room and held it open to him. Draco swept through the room, casting detection spells to ensure it was safe. Satisfied, he turned to Hermione, readying to escape to his room and pull himself together before tomorrow.

She was fidgeting and refusing to make eye contact, clearly his behavior was not unnoticed.

“So,” Hermione began, “I guess I’ll go freshen up quick and then you can after me? Unless of course you’d like to go first?”

Draco blinked, having no idea what she was going on about.

Hermione’s nervous ramblings continued, “unless of course you changed your mind? Maybe we can ask them again to find another hotel with extra rooms? They owe us that much after this screw up. I mean how can every place be booked? It’s preposterous.”

Hermione’s words washed over Draco as he finally began to understood their current predicament. With a sinking feeling, Draco looked around Granger’s room for a second time. Well, not Granger’s room, their room and his stomach dropped a second time.

In the center of the room stood the only piece of furniture.

A massive four post bed.

The reality of the situation came crashing down on him.

There was one bed.

Draco gaze flit from the bed to a now blushing Hermione.

Merlin’s balls, he was in trouble.
