He knew it would come to something like this. Some major life defining moment that would change everything. Hermioneβs screams echoed through the manor as Draco continued to bore his gaze into the back of her head, willing her to look at him.
When her brown eyes finally snapped toward his, he reached out to her through Occlumency.

He was a coward. A coward watching the love of his life writhe in pain and still he couldnβt act.
Hermione took a deep breath, readying herself for the next cruciatus, but not before one last look at Draco and six words that would change his life forever.

Draco didnβt even need to think, his body moved before his mind could react. Raising his wand, green lights bathed the room as Draco made his choice over and over again. As he lifted Hermione to apparate, he never stopped chanting his response, almost like a prayer
