
Chapter 36
Prompt: Detention together
Ron and Draco sat silent in the potions classroom, neither doing much other than casting the occasional glare toward the other. Snape had left them with the task of scrubbing cauldrons while they were in detention together, but the stack of dirty cauldrons hadn’t been touched.
“You’ll never have her,” Ron broke the silence, “Do you think she could ever forgive you for everything?”
Draco looked up and saw his detention mate seething with barely contained rage and decided to give him just a little push.
“At least I didn’t leave her in the woods to die,” Draco responded cooley.
Ron’s eyes widened, “How could you possibly kn-”
Draco cut him off, “Still playing catch up, are you Weasel? Who do you think trekked all the way out to the Forest of Dean with that blasted sword?”
Before he could continue, the door to the classroom opened and Hermione stepped inside. “I think the three of us need to talk.”
Turning to Ron, she placed a gentle arm on his shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
With a nod from Draco, Hermione began, “Draco and I started seeing each other in sixth year…”
