Chapter 7

Prompt: I Won't Stop

Every Thursday at 7:45am, Hermione Granger can be found entering the Ministry and making a beeline for the cafeteria to grab a blueberry scone before they are all out. It is her one indulgence and the highlight of her work week. Well, it was the highlight up until three weeks agowhen she arrived to find they had been cleared out of all blueberry scones, as was the case each week after. After throwing around her war hero status, she found out the same customer arrived the past three weeks at 7:00am and would specifically order all of the scones.

That’s how Hermione found herself staking out the cafeteria from a table in the back corner at 6:30am. At 7:00 exactly, a tall familiar blonde swaggered in and proceeded to buy every blueberry scone. Enraged, Hermione followed him to his office and slammed the door behind her.

Draco leaned back in his oversized chair, and gazed nonchalantly at the furious witch. Slowly, he opened the bag and popped a piece of scone into his mouth, and to further rub salt in the wound, let out a low moan of satisfaction.

“WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?” shrieked Hermione. Draco peered at her quietly, his eyes bright from amusement which only incensed Hermione further.

“I have no idea what you mean. I’m just trying to enjoy my favorite breakfast before I bring the rest to the owls on the roof.”

“You feed my scones to the owls??”

“They’re quite dense you see, perfect to help them regain their strength after long journeys -”

“UNBELIEVABLE! This stops today, Malfoy, I love those scones and if you don’t stop, I am going to make the rest of your days at the Ministry mis-”

“I won’t stop,” Draco’s sharp voice cut into her rant, throwing her off. Draco continued, “I won’t stop until you agree to resume our Thursday breakfasts.”

“You’ve been stealing my favorite scones so that I don’t miss ONE breakfast at the manor?!”

Draco finally had the sense to look slightly abashed, “I just hate not seeing you all day until you’re done with work. Breakfast is our only time to connect before the day…”

Hermione let out a frustrated sigh as she wrapped her arms around his neck, even after being married for ten years, her husband could still get under her skin better than anyone.
