Chapter 1
Prompt: Selfish
The two Malfoy men glared at one another, their wands raised ready for attack.
"You've always been selfish, Draco, but never stupid. Come back home and we can forget about this little "indiscretion."
Draco bit back a laugh and lowered his wand.
"Come home? This place stopped being home the moment you sold me to that madman." Draco paused, taking a moment to take in the man who he once admired more than anyone in the world. He wondered where that man had gone or if it had always been an illusion.
"She's pregnant," Draco murmured, his voice soft. "She's pregnant and I'm ecstatic and terrified. I came here because the "indiscretion" as you so affectionately call her, insisted I share the news in the hope you could be a part of our child's life."
Draco swallowed hard, his words stuck in his throat. "I see now that hope was in vain."
Draco turned to walk back toward the Floo as Lucius continued to stare ahead, face impassive and giving nothing away. As Draco grabbed the powder, he was jolted forward as Lucius' strong grip clasped his shoulder. Turning to face his father, he saw tears filling his eyes.
"I'm to be a grandfather?" Lucius croaked.
Before Draco could respond, he was enveloped in his father's embrace.
