Story idea's up for adoption [prompts]

Yugioh and Death note.

Two stories I never would have thought to combine until I noticed Light looks like Seto.

I'm going to be using the American names of the yugioh cast because that's what I know them as. However feel free to use their real names when you write this idea.

Set before the end of the show but includes various scenes from the Manga that were changed in the anime (for the yugioh side of things).

The gang are finally able to relax a bit and be regular teenagers for a while. Most of them end up being busy with various things and cannot hang out together as often as before. Joey has taken to wandering the city in order to not have to be home as often (father is abusive in manga so include that).

He literally bumps or gets bumped into by who he thinks is Seto. However when he see's his full face he realizes it isn't and apologizes profusely for shouting at him.

He had bumped into pre-note Light Yagami.

Joey offers to buy Light some sort of snack as an apology, Light agrees because he's bored and recognized Joey from the TV viewing of the tournament and is curious.

They surprisingly end up getting along rather well. Light recognizes that, dispite Joey believing he is stupid, he is actually pretty intelligent in different ways.

After a few weeks of meeting up to chat Light offers to tutor him after Joey arrives upset and panicking because exams are coming up and he only found out because of Kaiba's sarcastic comments at Joey. (Kaiba has no idea how to properly communicate with anyone that isn't an employee or his brother. Sarcasm is his main defense)

Joey passes his exams and is extremely grateful to Light.

Light, and Kaiba who is the only one close to the Yugi gang not in the know, notices bruises on Joey once in a while. Kaiba says nothing but researches in his own time to figure it out. Light, after working his way to making Joey feel comfortable enough with him, asks about it.

Joey confesses that he's worried about being thought of differently once he tells Light but said boy promises he won't. Joey gives Light his life story in a sense.
He tells him about his parents divorce, how his mother left him behind while taking his sister with her, how his father became abusive, about Joey's own downward spiral that lead him to joining a gang for a time. He then swears he hasn't been part of a gang in a long time and almost begs to not be seen differently.

Since Light has the full picture he tells Joey that he is extremely glad that he managed to get out of his downward spiral and turn away from crime. He offers to have his father investigate Joey's dad but is told it wouldn't do any good. Joey is just glad his new friend isn't treating him differently.

Kaiba's research also discovers the same information and he feels sympathy for the mutt. His teasing loses even more of it's edge than it already had after that.

It isn't long after that when Light finds the death note.

Alright so here are some different ways you can take it from here.

Light just actually being a good, caring friend but still a murderer kills Joey's dad.

Kaiba being jealous once he, and the gang, meet Light via Joey.

Light being yandere for Joey??

Yami being SUPER weary about Light but kinda not wanting to admit it because Joey enjoys the boys company.
