Hogwarts Letter

"Mom?"

"Hmm" Astoria Malfoy replied.

"What was your house in Hogwarts?"

"Slytherin"

"Dad was in Slytherin too, wasn't he?" I asked sitting cross legged on the couch infront of the bed my mom was resting on.

"Yeah"

I fiddled with my fingers nervously before looking at her "what if I don't get sorted into Slytherin?"

Mom closed the book she was reading and beckoned me with her hand. I reached her bed and snuggled quietly as she questioned

"So you were worried till now about which house you were going to be sorted?"

I nodded my head and joined my hand with hers as she patted my head with the other

"Whichever house suits you is the one you're going to be put in. Whether it's Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. I don't care as long as you're happy in the place where you can make lots of friends and enjoy your school."

"Even if it's Gryffindor?"

She smirked at me before teasing "Maybe not...Maybe...."

I groaned "No mum seriously! Won't you be disappointed if I get sorted into gryffindor?"

She looked thoughful for a second before smiling at me with her glimmering blue eyes

"I won't lie hon, I would be upset but mostly worried you know. Our family doesn't have the best history and I can't have you stuck between the whole rivalry thing when you should enjoy the best years of your life. And I'd be damned if I didn't do my best to let you feel safe and sound dear."

I felt a soft, warm and mellow feeling tingling my insides and my lips spread into a smile mirroring her own as she chuckled

"Besides I can't imagine you being in gryffindor. You're too much of a Slytherin beneath all your smiles. Don't think I didn't notice your little shenanigans. Honestly, putting a switching spell on your brother's charms book ?"

I pouted and buried my face into her shoulder as she told

"You could've done better and don't tell him I said that."

She added as I beamed at her. I slowly closed my eyes leaning into her and asked

"What about dad?"

What will he say if I become a lion?

"Why don't you ask him when he returns?"

I smiled at her and jumped from the bed before running along the hallway to the library where Scorpius was reading a charms book. He was a charms maniac. I could only imagine what would happen to the house if he gets a wand. I picked up a copy of Advanced potion making book before returning to my personal potions laboratory room which took a lot of convincing (for my parents it is) that I won't blow it up.

I prepared the apparatus before brewing the blood replenishing potion. While stirring the mixed rose petals and dittany leaves, I heard the door open and close.

"You've already started advanced potions?" My dad asked me

I hummed and dropped fairy wings into the mixture.

"You should have have stirred in the clockwise direction."

"Will the potion be destroyed?"

"No, just less effective." He said and poured silver weed extract into the simmering cauldron.

"Dad, What if I don't get sorted into Slytherin?"

He stopped stirring and I held my breath lowering my head. I peeked sideways and saw him smirking

"Is my little Ly worried about sorting now?"

"Dad please!" I pouted as he was making fun of me.

"You still have eight months before you go to Hogwarts. But if you want to know my opinion, I'm fine as long as you are happy."

While Straining the potion, I filtered it into a flask.

"If it's Gryffindor?" He scrunched his brows for a bit and replied

"I guess it's fine with that either, don't listen to your grandfather and grandmother."

I nodded but I knew he would be disappointed if I really do get sorted into Gryffindor and handed him the flask for an evaluation.

"It will last for maybe an hour. Good potion for a first time brewer."

I grinned at my success clearing the room before turning around

"Dad, I heard that you were quite the drama queen in your year?"

Dad frowned before asking "who told you that?"

"No one. I wanted to know if that was true."

"It's not."

"I heard you turned into a ferret once."

Dad narrowed his eyes "Are you mocking me Ly?"

He sounded quite intense "No way dad! Not at all." But my twitching lips answered the other way.

"Dinnertime Vivi." He turned and set the cauldron in right place.

I walked to the door nodding before looking back "it's true right?"

Dad turned to me and I quickly ran out of the room squealing before he could catch me.

Today's my birthday - June 4th. But I didn't attend the family dinner with my grandparents. There's always a tense atmosphere because both of them don't like my mother and they so not approve of her Not teaching pureblood ideals.

Mom and dad both had a trauma due to the Hogwarts battle, dad more than mom. So they never taught us to hate muggles nor to strictly follow the pureblood way of living. We live in a different place than the old Malfoy mansion. This where my parents,me and my younger brother live.

Grandfather was actually okay that a girl was born at first, my mum was not really healthy and became frail due to the childbirth. Dad wanted her to stop after that but my grandparents were also putting the pressure that they want an heir to the Malfoys. Both being from the families of sacred twenty eight- one Malfoy and other Greengrass, the family had high expectations.

Fucking pureblood traditions and fucking patriarch families.

I sighed as I sat on the windowsill of my room glancing at the sky. Gloomy just like my mood. I brought a famous muggle book Pride and Prejudice to read, highlighting few lines which I liked when two taps on the window was heard. I jumped down and opened the window. A pretty barn owl entered the room and dropped a letter on my bedside. I called a house elf to bring few old treats and gave it to the bird as if flew away.

I sat and looked at the Hogwarts envelope touching the house crests on the back. My Own Hogwarts letter. I opened the letter and read it in awe

Yours sincerely,
Professor Filius Flitwick
DEPUTY HEADMASTER. ]

I grinned happily and showed the letter to my family after they returned. My brother pouted that he wanted a Hogwarts letter too. Dad told me that he would take me out to Diagon alley for supplies next month and my brother who was rejected to come quietly hugged my mom and moped hard.

Emotional little git.

I closed the letter and wrote a reply sending it with an owl. As it was flying away, I realised that I get to see the full extent of Magical world around me with all types of people mixed within Hogwarts. Some may be my friends, troublesome people and some rivals. Some days cheery and some sad. My life is not really on a paper. This was not a book, but reality. My reality.
