Severus Is Content
Severus barely dragged himself the remaining three steps to the door of his destination. He turned the knob and opened the door, nearly falling through it from exhaustion. The professor sighed as he dropped his bag in the doorway and took off his shoes. The day had been taxing to say the least. Three exploded cauldrons, twenty unacceptable essays and five homesick, snotty students. That’s what he had to deal with in the past six hours. Being the potions’ professor and head of house was no easy task, especially when children seemed to grow more daft by the generation. It seemed as if each year, he received dumber and more reckless students.
Severus made his way to his bedroom and took off his outer robes before unzipping his under robes and also discarding them. The professor then unbuttoned his white shirt and dark trousers. If anyone saw him they’d think he was overdressed. Not in the stylish sense but the layers would probably raise eyebrows, however, Severus didn’t care and would rather be seen as a freak rather than deal with a humiliation similar to what he suffered in his fifth year. No, no one would ever catch him off guard again when it came to clothing. The man had vowed to himself, that he’d always be found decent, even in the most compromising positions.
When Severus finished undressing to his underwear, he grabbed a towel and headed into his bathroom. Hogwarts provided luxurious bathrooms for the staff, even outclassing the prefects’ bathroom. Severus laid his towel on the side as the water filled the massive tub with colourful water. The tub filled in seconds, while Severus was removing the remaining article of clothing that hid his privates. The man slowly went into the tub and breathed a sigh of relief as the warm, scented water, eased his stress and relaxed his muscles. Moments like this were the reason Severus continued to work at his demanding job.
He naturally overworked himself and tried to be as passionate in all his endeavours, but even after 20 years of teaching, Severus found it rather difficult to stay motivated in his job. Things got especially difficult during the past couple of years when the war was at its peak. Thankfully, the war had ended two years prior, thanks to a certain golden saviour. Severus groaned at the thought of his most hated student. Yes, he certainly hated when he was a student. Always grabbing attention from everyone. Always achieving things without much work. He was seeker in his first year for Merlin’s sake. How was that fair?
The potion’s master shook his head to rid of these thoughts and refocus on the excellent bath he was having. Severus began washing himself using the soap in the water. He then grabbed his special shampoo and lathered it in his hair before scrubbing his scalp gently. The smell of caramel and almond filled his nose. Severus then titled his head back and dunked his hair into the water, keeping only his face out. Then he pulled his head out and ran his hands through the silky, clean strands of his hair. Severus smiled and a blush coloured his cheeks. Silky. Beautiful. Words he never even hoped to be associated with him but now, he heard them so often that he couldn’t help believing them and repeating them in private.
After the bath was over, Severus got out and wrapped the towel around himself. He reentered his bedchambers and headed straight for the large, comfortable bed, that laid in the centre of the main wall. The bed was covered in blue and white silk, material that eased Severus into a deep, comfortable sleep. The potion’s master removed his towel and laid it on a chair beside the bed and pulled away the covers to enter the bed. He placed himself in the middle and covered himself before snuggling his head into the mountain of pillows and breathing another sigh. It took only a couple of minutes before Severus was fast asleep.
The next morning Severus woke up lazily to the sound of his alarm. It was 10:00 am on a Saturday. A day where he had no work and could use it to his pleasure. The potion’s master smiled widely, knowing he took permission from Minerva to be out for the day. He slowly sat up in bed and stretched his arms up with a groan. He sighed contently before getting up and going to his closet to pick out his outfit. He picked Muggle style clothes for the outing he’d have, even if it involved accompanying the students to Hogsmeade. The professor dressed hastily out of excitement, he’d skip breakfast to have it in Hogsmeade.
By the time Severus walked up from the dungeons and to the main gate, it was 10:20 and some students were already waiting by the door, eager to be chaperoned to the small village. Severus was immediately by gawking eyes and dropped jaws. The students gasped at seeing their usually strict professor in a delighted mood and adorning such casual attire. Severus was in a white button down with rolled up sleeves and dark blue jeans. His shoes were brown cut-boots and his hair was tied back with an emerald ribbon. Not to mention the wide smile showcasing his straight white teeth and plumping up his cheeks.
Severus blushed lightly at the attention but ignored it for the most part and made his way to the front of the gate. The group waited for another 10 minutes for the remaining students before heading out on the first Hogsmeade trip of the school year. The walk was to the small village was lively and full of excited chatter. Those who were visiting for the first time were expressing their desire to see certain places while those who’ve been to similar trips were chatting about their planned journey in the village. Severus for his part had one specific place in mind that he was giddy to visit. He’d eat the most delicious brunch there and enjoy the company.
When the group were on the village’s threshold, people began to disband to go their separate ways. Severus bid his colleagues goodbye and began his walk to the far end of the main street. Two minutes into his walk and the building with the wooden sign appeared clearly to him. When Severus reached his destination, he grinned. The style was that of the forest, using wooden furniture and lively plants and colourful flowers for decoration. The front sign was written using painted blue birds that aligned to say “Potter’s Bakery”. Severus opened the door and the little bell rang as the door opened and closed behind him.
“Good morning, welcome to Potter’s bakery, how can I satisfy your taste buds today?” A tall, young man with broad shoulders covered in a tight white shirt and a green apron, spoke in a deep, husky voice. Severus shivered at the voice and made eyes contact with the man. The younger’s bright avada-coloured eyes, gazed lovingly at Severus and his plump lips lifted from on corner to display a confident, seductive smirk.
“Good morning,” Severus finally said, his voice a little hoarse. “I’d like to have your omelette special and a piece of pain du chocolate, with some jasmine tea,” he replied. The man smiled brightly.
“Right away, why don’t you have a seat at our special table sir?” The young man said and Severus nodded. “Lottie, please take over for me,” Severus heard the young man say to the short girl beside him.
“Of course Harry, enjoy your day with your husband,” she replied cheerfully. Severus blushed at her comment but busied himself in finding his seat and pulling out the book he brought with him. As he began to read, a large Norwegian forest cat, came meowing toward him. Severus didn’t pay the animal any mind as it came and jumped on his lap. The cat purred as it snuggled comfortably on Severus’s lap.
“Lazy boy, haven’t you slept enough?” Severus whispered as his hand instinctively came to pet the cat. The cat purred happily and Severus shook his head before going back to his book. He would be shortly joined by Harry with the most delicious food. A feeling of true happiness flooded the potion’s master and he hummed softly.
