Boba Tea and Painted Nails
Jack sucked. Like. A lot. A fucking lot. Like a ton. Ugh.
Maybe the guy wasn’t explicitly all that bad and evil. Sure, he had done his mischief in the past but…
No. He was being unfair.
Albus didn’t know why he let himself believe that admitting he had feelings for Scorpius would make shit easier. Especially when said Scorpius had a boyfriend. But there’s only a certain amount of times the ‘I’m only jealous because my best friend won’t spend as much time with me’ excuse clicks in Al's head.
And whatever that amount was, it had run out completely a week ago.
Jack and Scorpius had been dating since early June. It had been exactly two months since he had broken up with Roman and Albus thought they could go back to normal. Especially since whatever he had going on with Liam had also ended. Back to both of them being single and mingle, best friends for life! But no.
Two months wasn’t a short period of time as much as it wasn’t a long one. It was enough to move on from the fact that your first boyfriend ever was a fucking asshole and had cheated on you and date someone else. So Albus supposed he had to be happy that his best friend was happy but it bothered him endlessly that he was being happy without him, and the fact that he didn’t even seem to care that much in the end about all the bullshit Roman did. But Albus did care, because he knew he could do so much better as Scorpius’ boyfriend and- See? He had absolutely no idea how he hadn’t run out of excuses to cover up his actual feelings for his best friend.
But now that the wave of ‘difficult to deal with’ thoughts had hit, there was only one thing to stop any further damage; social media consumption. Just stare at his phone and watch people speak about random shit. Whatever that kept him from feeling sorry for himself.
He opened Instagram, and started watching some Stories. He hated it when they piled up.
He was scrolling through, not paying much attention to anything until he reached Jack’s story. It was a picture of Scorpius drinking boba tea. That was right, Scorpius Malfoy, button up lilac best and all glory.
Albus kept coming back to the story. Scorpius looked truly beautiful. He had styled his hair differently, and his cheeks were red, but Albus decided that it was because of the heat, and not because whatever Mr Charming Jack was doing behind cameras was making him blush. He stopped looking at the pictures when he realized that Scorpius’ nails were painted. Not only that, Albus had painted them himself. Scorpius had asked him to and the brunette boy was so nervous about the excessive contact he was scared he would paint all of the pale boy’s hand. They actually turned out excellent, and he was thanked with a very warm smile and…
Oh Merlin.
This was going to be a hard summer.
