As she grew older her genetics from being half Veela started to show more.
Her skin became smoother minus the faded scars; if focused intently, one will feel the rough texture. She is turning ten years old today and her father created a grand ball to celebrate her first appearance to the world. You see, she was never allowed to leave the manor's ground. She was to remain isolated for her entire childhood sealed away from society, from meeting those different from her.
(However, she feels that her father is more paranoid since he always attempts to dodge all questions concerning her mother's death and why she was not allowed to leave).
The only knowledge she had of the world outside of the silent mansion of her father was the books in the library that were once occupied by her mother. But now it's meant to be a special day. The day both the world and Aurora finally are introduced to each other.
With help from the elves, they dressed her up to put on a beautiful navy blue gown with a golden shimmering glitter that made the dress look like they are stars twinkling in the night sky. On the left of her chest is a golden flying dragon pin shining ever so brightly within the light of the candles representing the house spirit animal.
The House of Belmont is the last remaining blood descendant of the infamous and powerful wizard "Merlin". Not much is known of Merlin's life story according to the Ministry of Magic information on him besides the main concept that he was once the protector of the last king of Camelot, Arthur Pendragon. However, what the wizarding world did not know for it was never publically documented, and it's secretly kept hidden in the Belmont family. Their dirty little secrets, one she was finally included on a sunny day when the curse she hated was no longer affecting her father.
The family's century-old secret is that Merlin was actually in a romantic relationship with Arthur when the king was a prince. This was something her father informed her about in the gardens, passing on the secret to the next generation. It was from him that she received what is claimed to be in their family, Merlin's first diary. She carefully removed the leather strap, cradling the old and whither brown journal with such caution that she felt could easily rip from her fingertips.
Opening the book she sees that the pages are yellow and the ink is somewhat fading but the wording is still readable. She reads the pages as best as she could. Her young mind devoured the information now exposed to her. Her father chuckles amused seeing his daughter's icy blue eyes widen trying to memorize everything the journal was able to provide.
There Aurora discovers that Merlin and Arthur secretly had twin children together and both feared the dangers their unborn babies would have for the many enemies they had. So before the battle that will end the life of King Arthur, they give their sons one final kiss of goodbye and entrust their care to the most loyal knight of the Round Table, Sir Lancelot.
Lancelot was absent from the battle and raised the boys changing their last name to Belmont as they lived the rest of their lives in the country that will be known as France. Until years later, after Camelot was hidden away forever no longer to be found any trace of the lost kingdom. Merlin reunited with his sons and taught them the Draconian language. However, even with the new rise of the nearly extinct dragon species, Merlin felt that he would only bring danger to his sons.
So he left them and made his way to the newly built school in Britain.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
But as the days went on...as she continued to read more about her ancestor's life...the book suddenly ended.
With pages ripped out.
With dates and pieces of information crossed out with ink.
When her father was stable mentally with the black veins no longer spreading at the moment from his neck across to his other shoulder. Did she ask him, what happened to the pages?
"Nous ne savons pas. Notre hypothèse est la même que celle de tous les autres habitants de la planète. Nous croyons qu'il a simplement disparu." ("We don't know. Our guess is just the same as everyone else in the world. We believed he simply disappeared.")
There was a cold shiver that coursed through her when he said that. But the gentle push from the elve snapped her away from her memory bringing her back to the present. They told her that it was time for her to head to the ballroom. She gave them a short nod of courtesy and walked in her small heels down the countless stairs and endless hallways to the dark blue wooden doors. She waited patiently for her father to finish his speech which mainly thanked them for coming and how happy he was for his daughter turning ten years old. How excited and delighted he is to finally introduce her to the world.
Once she heard the sounds of clapping from the guest, Aurora straightened her back more than was thought possible. The corset tightens deeply onto her chest and waist. The design of the dress must have been made when her father was going rampant again.
'Je déteste ces veines noires. Je déteste ce qu'elles font.' ('I hate those black veins. I hate what it does.')
But the lack of breathing and pain no longer affected her for she became numb to the world around her. The doors magically open on their own and she hobbles her way to the balcony overlooking the rest of the guests standing right next to her father. Aurora takes notice of the black veins spreading underneath the bandages her father started to wear days before. It was starting to spread toward his hands.
'Il vaut mieux se taire, il devient imprévisible quand il est comme ça,' she thought to herself. ('It's best to stay silent, he becomes unpredictable when he is like this.')
The guests who are all rich pureblood families from different countries of the wizarding world came to celebrate and meet the hidden beauty. There were rumors spread quickly that the Heiress of the royal family, LaRue, and the wealthiest child from the House of Belmont was locked away in her home because her beauty was like no other. All of the guests who now had the pleasure to see her, their mouths dropped and the feeling of awe overcame them as they admired the appearance of the doll-like child.
The wives found her adorable for she looked like a porcelain doll and they immediately wanted to wed her off with one of their sons. Many of the husbands thought like their wives to wed Aurora with their sons and gain fortune from Belmont's and LaRue's riches and have access to their secrets. But some had filthy and sickening pleasures they wished to have with the half-veela child from both women and men.
Aurora and her father walk gracefully down the stairs her composure straight, head held high, cute smile, wide eyes, and rosy cheeks. She kept her mouth sealed as he spoke to the guest and only responded when she was spoken to. All of the guests commented again and again on how adorable she looked and tried to bribe her father to marry her off to one of their sons. He kindly rejected most of their offers and on some, he commented saying he would think about it. Aurora just remained still as a mannequin just as her father beat the lessons in her head months before when the black veins influence worsened.
At this point in her life, she has already given up. What's the point of fighting or running? He will always find his lost jewel. Just do what he says and hopefully, death will be swift to end her.
