Time Turners and Traitors
Back in the Gryffindor dorms, James and Remus had brought dinner to the time travelers while Regulus examined the time turner. Regulus also had multiple books floating around him. He was completely lost. “How did this even break?”
Harry hesitated, “I tried taking it from Draco and we were fighting and somehow time traveled here… we dropped it.”
Remus quirked a brow, “you two don’t like one another, huh?” he asked.
Draco shrugged, “Potters are insufferable.” He commented. He took a bite of the sandwich he was given.
James shrugged, “we’re delightful! I’m sure Harry loves his dear ole dad.”
Draco scoffed, “as if he knew you.”
“What?” James said slowly.
“I knew Sirius and Remus… I never knew you…” Harry muttered.
“Is it because of what you told me earlier, Harry?”
Harry nodded, “yeah… just-”
“You told them? The fuck did you tell them? That the dark lord killed your parents but somehow you didn’t die?” Draco spat. “Or that Pettigrew brought him back? That Pettigrew is the reason everyone we know is at risk?”
Harry paused, “I just told Sirius not to trust Peter…”
Regulus looked up, “When you go back, things will be different. We know too much.” He sounded detached. “Come back and take yourselves back to when you landed if things are worse.”
James frowned, “but why? Why does Peter do that? Where is Peter anyway?”
“Out with some Ravenclaw girl,” Sirius commented.
Draco shrugged, “Pettigrew is a coward. He basically,” he shook his head.
Harry sighed, “I don’t know, but I should have let Sirius kill him when they had the chance…”
“Excuse me, what?” Draco asked, “The fuck do you mean?”
Harry hesitated, “Third year, remember when Lupin was our professor?” Draco nodded, “Yeah, so basically Sirius grabbed Ron because Ron’s pet rat, scabbers, was actually Pettigrew and Sirius and Lupin almost killed them. I told them that’s not what my dad would have wanted..”
“That must have been how Snape decided to expose Lupin, not that it’s not obvious when you pay attention. I mean Granger figured it out quickly. I figured it out when I realized the scar across his nose is the one Grayback gives to those in his pack.”
“How do you know about Grayback?” Remus asked as he watched Regulus try multiple repairing charms on the time turner.
“My father has hired him to do shit before. Dunno what, but I never liked him…”
Regulus paused, “Merlin, I know what to do!” He said triumphantly. Give me two days, and you will be back to your timeline.”
Of course, their timeline will forever be different. Maybe it will be better?
Those two days went rather well. Harry got to know his father. He also got to see Sirius before the scars of war and Azkaban. Harry didn’t want to leave despite Draco’s insistence. Even though Draco did not seem too pleased being there at first, it seems Draco enjoyed himself. He and Remus bonded over Hogwarts a History before Sirius called them nerds. Draco was even… pleasant? He seemed at ease. He didn’t even insult Harry, and if he did, it wasn’t malicious. There was no sneer or distaste from Draco. He was almost just teasing. It baffled Harry; Harry wasn’t even just wishing for Ron or Hermione. Plus, they didn’t argue when it came to sharing a bed. Now that was rather odd, seeing Draco in Gryffindor red or dressed like a muggle metalhead. They had to borrow clothes, and Harry fit James’ clothes almost perfectly. James was more filled out, so they were a tad baggy on him. But Draco? Draco fit Sirius’ clothes perfectly. He looked approachable for once. It was a weird shift completely especially when Sirius gave up his bed and bunked with Remus for the duration of the boy’s stay. It couldn’t last forever despite Harry’s protests.
Draco watched as Regulus finished recovering the time turner. “Good as new.” He offered a smile.
Remus watched Regulus, “Brilliant magic.” He commented, a little jealous of this fifth year’s skill.
Regulus shrugged, “More potions involved actually.” He handed Draco and Harry the time turner.
“Now put that potion's skill into curing lycanthropy.” Sirius joked.
Regulus shrugged, “Yeah, okay. Professor Slughorn said I could use a good project.”
Draco paused, taking some parchment and writing something down. “Figure something out using this. Snape had me brew it third year. Supposed to help lycanthropy, but I dunno how it does or how many doses one needs to take. He just had me brew it within a week and a half of a full moon.”
“You brew the potions?” Harry asked with a shocked expression.
“Snape always took it upon himself to tutor me. He thought I was advanced enough.”
Harry nodded slightly as Regulus read over the potion. “I’ll figure something out.” He commented. “Now you two should go, any parting words?” he asked, “I would like to thank you, Draco. It was a pleasure knowing Cissa’s boy is well-adjusted.” Harry snorted at that.
Sirius offered a smile and hugged the boys, “Thank you, Draco. I got my brother back…” he whispered to them, “And Harry, I promise I’ll make things right.”
Remus shook his head, “goodluck, you two.” He barely moved from his bed. He was in pain, but it was a full moon that evening.
James offered a smile and hugged Harry, “I love you, my son.” He said before he pulled back.
“Ready, Potter?” Draco asked as he held the time turner, going to put it around Harry’s neck.
“I suppose…” Harry said, waving to the others as the dorm whisked away.
Only when Draco stumbled forward in the corridor of Hogwarts, he was alone. He furrowed his brows. He went to the right time period…
“There you are, Draco!” Someone called from behind Draco eagerly. Draco turned around and was shocked at the sight in front of him.
