Time Travel

Harry had never been more, well, he felt every emotion at once that he felt numb. Sirius couldn’t be gone. He didn’t believe it one bit. Sirius was still out there. Maybe even at Hogwarts. He just could not accept it. He sulked down the halls the morning after everything happened in the Department of Mysteries. He couldn’t sleep, just kept thinking about Sirius and the veil. That’s what sparked this early morning walk. None of this was fair. He didn’t even have the energy to speak with his closest friends.
“Oi, Potter!” Malfoy called. “Heard you took a little field trip.” He teased, clearly unaware of the events that transpired.
Harry glared at Malfoy. “What do you care, Malfoy?” He spat. He couldn’t deal with Malfoy’s arrogance. He especially could not deal with the fact Malfoy’s aunt just killed Sirius, almost tortured Neville… and Malfoy’s father? He just could not handle it.
Draco just held up a shiny object, “Well, Potter, I could always go back in time and come with. I mean, why shouldn’t I get to see what Saint Potter gets up to?” He snickered as he advanced towards Harry.
Harry immediately realized the object Malfoy was holding. A Time Turner. He hadn’t used one since Hermione had one third year. He saved Sirius once, he could save him again. “Give me that-” he said quickly, immediately stepping over to grab it from Malfoy’s hand, but that prick stepped back.
“I don’t think I will.” Draco snickered, holding the time turner higher. “So when did you leave? I’ll gladly go back and attend this field trip. Father would be pleased.”
That’s when Harry snapped. He stepped closer to Malfoy and shoved him, grabbing Malfoy’s wrist to take the time turner, but Malfoy would not let go. They shoved at each other, both trying to grab at the time turner, but then they started spinning it. Then all the boys felt was an intense movement. When they landed, they both dropped the time turner. Harry stumbled into Malfoy, falling onto the hard floors of Hogwarts.
Draco immediately shoved Harry off of him, picking up what remained of the time turner. “What did you do, Potter?” He looked downright horrified. This was a Malfoy heirloom. This is something Draco wasn’t even supposed to have. “You broke it. You fucking broke it, Potter.” Draco sneered as he pulled his wand out. He quickly summoned all the pieces to his hand and shoved them into his pockets.
Harry glared at Draco, “You’re the one who did this.” He snapped as he slowly stood up. He’s never seen Malfoy this frantic… this absolutely terrified. Usually Malfoy was composed.
Draco glared at Harry, “We just time traveled, Scarhead. I have no idea where and our ticket back is broken. It’s all because you can’t control yourself.” He scoffed as he stood, dusting his robes.
Harry huffed, “More your fault than mine. How do we even find out where we time traveled to?”
Draco hesitated, “I hate you, but we can’t separate.” He looked over. “Time magic is heavily restricted, Potter. Do you not research anything?” He scanned the halls. Then he gripped Harry’s wrist and was dragging him down the hall until he heard muffled voices.
Harry glared at Draco, “Why can’t we separate?” He groaned as Draco started to drag him. “Why are you touching me? Let go of me-”
“Shut up.” Draco hissed. “I’m trying to listen.” He said as he pressed himself closer to the wall. Harry huffed, about to retort, but he paused as he heard the voices coming closer.
“We can’t keep doing this, James…” a very posh voice started. “If anyone finds out… Both of us would be-”
“C’mon, love. We can just keep it a secret. No one has to know… please, you can’t keep denying you like this… like us.”
A heavy sigh, “I do… I just… you saw what happened to Andy… to my brother. And their offenses were mild compared to this. Shagging a bloke, a blood traitor nonetheless… that’s more than just a death sentence.”
“Please… you know I can barely go a week without you.”
“James… what about-you could have any girl you want. You have no need for me… please, just.”
“Regulus, don’t leave me.”
“Goodnight, James…”
“Regulus, please.”
“I’ll see you on the quidditch pitch… if I win, I’ll come gloat.”
“Thank you, Reg. Get some rest.” That voice sounded almost sad.
“Who was that? James is my dad's name…” Harry whispered.
Draco furrowed his eyebrows, “My cousin’s name is Regulus…” He glanced over to Harry. He slowly peaked his head through the corner and froze. He pulled Harry back. “We’re in the 70s… shit.”
“What do you mean?” Harry tilted his head to the side. He was just as confused.
“That is your dad. Merlin, you really are dense.” He hissed, pausing when he heard footsteps come closer. Then a wand was in their faces.
“Who the hell are you two?” A man who looked nearly identical to Harry asked. The differences? He looked a tad bit older, had some more muscle and hazel eyes.
“I could ask you the same question.” Draco spat. Seems no one was safe from Draco’s attitude.
The man assessed them for a moment, “Well, you look an awful lot like Malfoy. Didn’t know he had a little brother.”
Draco scoffed, “Have some class. Besides, Lucius only has one brother, the one who was disowned.” He said simply.
The man froze, “Xenophilius wasn’t disowned… Who the fuck are you two?” He barked again.
Harry stared for a moment, “I’m Harry Potter. That’s Draco Malfoy.”
“Did you just say Potter?” It seems to have caught the man's attention. ‘That’s not possible… I don’t-you time traveled didn’t you?” His face lit up. “Brilliant! Oh moony would love this. If you’re a Potter, you must be my son. I’m James Potter!” He seemed quite excited.
Draco glanced towards Harry, “Great. There’s two of you now… wait, James. Were you talking to Regulus Black?” He asked hesitantly.
James laughed awkwardly, “Um yeah…” He scratched behind his head. “Don’t mention that to Sirius, he wouldn’t be happy. Come on, I’ll take you two up to my dorm-”
“As lovely an offer that is… we need to get back, right Harry?”
“Actually… the dorms sound nice.”
“Harry.” Draco hissed.
James quirked a brow, “Who would’ve thought my son would be friends with a Malfoy.” he shook his head. “Follow me, lads. Oh this is exciting, I get to meet my future son! Am I a good dad?” He asked as he started to lead them up to Gryffindor Tower.
Draco and Harry gave each other a look, “We are not friends.” Draco said indignantly.
“And we never will be.” Harry added quickly.
James glanced back at them, winking at Harry, “Right.” Seems James assumed something else was going on. He didn’t think it was two arch-rivals accidentally time-traveling. “Anyway, what’s the future like? Does Minnie still work at Hogwarts? Oh! Are there new pranksters that follow in our glory?” He asked eagerly.
Draco frowned, “We can’t tell you, that could mess up the timeline…”
Harry shrugged, “Professor McGonagall is still a professor, and there are these twins that are always pranking.”
James paused, grinning wider. “They must be related to Fabian and Gideon! Oh they’re legendary here. They were the Marauders' predecessors!”
“The Marauders? You nicknamed your friend group?” Draco sounded annoyed.
“Oh, of course, young Malfoy.” James chuckled before stopping at the fat lady. “Hello, darling,” He greeted with a charming smile. “Veela’s hair.” He said confidently and the portrait swung open. He led the boys in, “The guys might be asleep, but they’re not too bad to wake up. Just let me handle it.” James explained as he led the pair up into a dorm with four four-poster beds.
