This Is Enough (5+1)
They had condemned themselves to this fate. Each foolishly believing the other could and would never be theirs. Worlds apart. Were they sure? No. However, when has love ever made one rational? As the days went on the denial and longing ate at their hearts.

In moments of peace.
Caitlyn leaned against the tree by the lake. Book in her hand detailing the old Nordic mythos and its relation to the real magical world. As she read she smiled, there were many things she adored about Hogwarts. The freedom, the lessons, the castle itself, her teachers, her friends, but most of all-
"Hey Cupcake! Watch this!"
Vi gently nudged her side with her elbow. She closed her book, keeping a finger on between the pages she was on and turned her full attention to the pinkette. Vi had been keeping her company, eating a small bag of salted peanuts while people watching (in other words fondly watching her sister and Ekko chase each other around the field in a sudden impromptu game of tag.)
Smiling like an excited puppy Vi tossed three peanuts into the air tilting her head back to follow them with her gaze. She caught the first, caught the second-
"SHIT-" Vi exclaimed as the third salted peanut fell on her eye. Her hand flew up to rub at it, only making it worse.
While Vi grumbled and groaned about the pain Caitlyn couldn't help but laugh. Not the polite, behind her hand kind of laugh. No, a wide mouthed, full bellied laugh that would bring shame to the Kiramman family name in any social gathering. Only Vi could give her this. Pure, unadulterated, unabashed, joy.
Vi put her hand down and pouted at her, one eye still closed. Did Caitlyn want to just close the distance, lean forward and kiss that adorable pout off her face and leave her shocked? Yes… but she couldn't...
They're here together. She thought.
'This is enough.'

In moments of joy.
Vi loved the feeling of the wind blowing through her side swept hair. The freedom of open air. And the thrill of the chase.
"VI GET BACK HERE!" Ekko yelled as Vi once again give him a sly passing bonk on the back of the head during their little gang practice session.
Grayson had a massive soft spot for the group and often let them practice in the Quidditch pitch to their heart's content so long as no one had it booked. So everyone was here, relaxing after having gone through a good couple rounds of backyard quidditch. Vi cackles like a mad woman as she speeds out of Ekko's reach only to be whacked on the back of the head by an every swift Powder.
"Sorry, sis! Gotta side with my boyfriend." Powder teased, exaggerating the word very much on purpose before passing by Ekko and giving him a high five.
"Oh you're gonna regret that." Vi growled playfully. "C'MERE!"
She sped towards her sister who squeaked and raced away. Far too concentrated on reaching for Powder Vi fails to notice exactly where they were headed.
"DELIVERY!" Powder announces before taking a sudden sharp dive, catching Vi completely off guard.
"Po- OH FUC-"
"VI-"
Impact.
Fall.
Crash.
Tumble.
"Uuugggghhhhhh." Vi groaned once the world stopped spinning.
Her back felt itchy, her chest felt heavy, her head stung, and she was pretty sure she wasn't in the sky anymore.
"Oowww." Whined a familiar voice that was far closer than Vi had expected.
Her eyes shot open and she realized exactly why she felt like she was being crushed.
Caitlyn braced herself up on her hands, one on each side of Vi's head, and slowly lifted her own head off Vi's chest, shaking it slightly as she got her bearings.
Vi held her breath as Caitlyn's eyes blinked open. Silver met Cerulian inches away from each other. Caitlyn looming over Vi as they'd both fallen to the ground. Vi felt time freeze.
'Oh Janna she's so fucking pretty. Holy shit. Get a grip!' Vi screamed in her own head. She recovered quicker than Caitlyn and took a breath.
She put on her best shit eating grin. "When I said “Accio hottie,” I didn’t expect it to work." Vi teased.
Caitlyn froze before remembering how much of a trease Vi truly is. She reveled in the scarlet red that spread across Caitlyn's face and down under the collar of her robes. She could practically feel the heat radiating off her before she suddenly sat up. Did Vi want to grab her by the front of her robes, pull her down and kiss her? More than she could say.
Instead she shimmied out from under Caitlyn and stood up, beholding out a hand to help Caitlyn to her feet. The others had landed around them either making sure they were okay or teasing the life out of them.
They laughed together.
'This is enough.'

In moments kept secret.
Vi had left her book up in the Charms classroom and had gone to get it back. She was taking a little longer than expected so Caitlyn took the initiative to go and check on her. As she approached the room she heard a muffled voice. Instantly she controlled her steps, keeping silent till she could hear the sound loud and clear.
"...I was a fighter and I was so brave
But I lowered my sword when you held me and swore
You'd stay, stay, stay
I can't do this alone anymore
'Cause I'm no good on my own anymore
What did I do to deserve this?
What did you do to me?
Baby, come back
You know I don't want to be free
I was a rebel, but I had a cause
'Til you came to town, pushed me around
And showed me what love was…"
Caitlyn would never get tired of Vi's voice. Even now, even after the whole Hippogriff experience, she still refuses to sing when asked. So this was the first time in a while that she'd heard her voice.
It was just a song but how she wished it was about her. Her who Vi opened up her heart to. Her who she lowered her guard for. It was wishful thinking and she was a fool to wish for it to be more than that.
They were friends.
'This is enough.'

In moments unexpected.
There was little else that Vi loved more than her family, especially Powder. Yes she adored her adoptive family with all her heart but Powder was her own flesh and blood. She helped raise her from birth till present day and there was nothing she wouldn't do for her. The easiest way to get on Vi's bad or good side was through her.
That's why it warmed her heart to no end when her crush and her sister spent time together.
They were in the Firelight base after-school. Ekko, Jayce and Viktor working on getting cellphones to function outside of the room. With the latter two graduating they wanted to do as much as they could. Powder was taking a break on one of the dueling mats, practicing a new spell she was trying to create. Behind her sat Caitlyn, dutifully braiding the younger's hair. She was getting much better at it.
Vi sat splayed out on an armchair in the recreational side of the room watching two of her favourite people spend time together. Caitlyn was just so damn perfect and fit into their chaotic family dynamic seamlessly. Powder adored her to no end and already saw her as another older sister. Gods she was smitten for this girl.
Her smile only grew when Powder's spell somewhat worked but caused a poof of blue and pink smoke to puff up and color their faces and robes. The duo simply laughed it off and with a wave of her wand the mess was cleared up.
"Simp." Whispers Mylo as he passes her.
Well he wasn't wrong but she still swatted him away playfully.
She spent time with them.
'This is enough.'

In moments together.
It was just another normal trip to Hogsmeade for the weekend. Everyone had split up to do their own thing before meeting up at the three broomsticks as they always did.
Caitlyn had decided to stay outside and wait for Vi to finish with her sweet shopping. It was a lovely spring morning and she adored watching the village going about their day, students mixed with the residents. She was content to wait until she noticed a lady selling some flowers. There was one species in particular that had her grinning. She walked on over with a smile. "Hello, good morning. How much are those?"
Vi was just coming out of Honeydukes with a bag of sweets when Caitlyn approached her, hands behind her back.
"Hey, Cupcake. What ya got there?" Vi asked, tilting her head curiously.
"I made you something!" Caitlyn revealed the item.
In her hands was a woven crown of violets. Vi looked from the item to Caitlyn and back. Before Vi could get a word in, Caitlyn promptly laid the crown on Vi's head, adjusting it till it sat perfectly.
"There we go!" Caitlyn beamed.
Vi had a reputation, gosh darn it. The butch who's kick your ass without hesitation and now here she was wearing a crown of her name sake and smiling like a fool.
"Thanks, Cait." Vi said fondly.
It was then she noticed the flower stand.
"Hold on, be right back." Vi said quickly before walking over to the sales lady.
Caitlyn watched with anticipation on what her friend had planned. When Vi returned she stood as Caitlyn did not moments ago, hands behind her back. With a grin and one swift motion she found a white rose tucked behind her ear.
"There." Vi whispered.
Caitlyn didn't know flower language like Vi did. The white rose. Youthfulness, innocence, young love, and loyalty.
The two locked eyes and as the seconds ticked by and the world turned they made a moment for themselves. A moment of repressed feelings and genuine smiles.
They had each other.
'This is enough.'

In moments apart.
It didn't hit under the light of day, in the view of the masses. It did not come when it was just them or their friends. It came to each one lonely night.
They both laid awake on their beds, darkness embracing them when they wished it were someone else. They stared at their pendants, the Wolf and the Lamb, and oh how they wished they would glow because that meant the missing piece was near. The glow would chase away the dark and leave them in another's warm presence.
This isn't enough and this will never be enough.
