Narcissa Malfoy I

Narcissa Malfoy née Black was a witch who always got what she wanted, one way or another. It was in second year that she decided that she wanted to marry the older Lucius Malfoy. Some would have called her foolish for settling for a family from outside of Britain. She would never be a lady and that was exactly what she wanted.

She wanted the comfortable life that the Malfoy fortune would bring her, but she did not want a lord. Marrying a lord would have meant that she would have to give up her Black heritage, she would no longer answer to the house of Black.

The greatest house in the whole of Britain.

It would have been foolish of her to try to marry out of her family, a family who she could always seek shelter with if she married a commoner.

The Malfoy’s are after all just as rich as they are common.

Lucius had been utterly perfect for her goals, he was handsome, rich and a marriage to him would allow her to keep the protection of her birth family.

She remembered quite well how she had started to mention the young Malfoy at home, planting seeds in her father’s head. It had taken a year for Cygnus Black to strike a betrothal agreement with Abraxas Malfoy. The Malfoy patriarch had been delighted to gain a Black bride.

It was in her fourth year that almost everything had been destroyed. Her older sister Andromeda had decided to elope with a mudblood and thus risking Narcissa’s carefully laid out plans. She had been contracted to marry Corban Yaxley and had broken it in the worst possible way. She had shamed their house and Narcissa could still remember how furious her father had been, Andromeda had cost them quite a lot and was branded a blood traitor for her actions. House Yaxley sought retribution and would have put the house’s coffers into the ground if it hadn’t been for Cassiopeia Black. The older witch had used her little black book and they had survived the blow, just barely.

Andromeda Tonks would never again be able to seek refuge within the house of Black, she had been branded a blood traitor and all of her descendants would suffer the same faith. The family magic had been ripped from her line thanks to her actions. Narcissa had learned that she had given birth to a daughter shortly after her elopement. A daughter who was a metamorphmagus. A daughter who now would always suffer from her mother’s actions without the family magic to guide her, her morphing would always be unstable, and she would be lucky to live to the age of forty. Her own core would burn out without the Black family’s support.

Narcissa would never forgive Andromeda for her selfish actions, and she believes that her sister too much be regretting them considering her daughter’s abilities. There had been so many ways out of the contract, and she chosen the worst one. The blonde witch knew why too. Her sister was cunning and had taken the way that would ensure that the house Black would go down with her.

Bu house Black prevailed and Narcissa did too.

She graduated and married Lucius, she had been blissfully happy the first weeks of their marriage. He had been everything that she wanted him to be. It was when Abraxas Malfoy died in dragon pox that she had first seen the kind of disappointment that her husband truly was.

He had gotten himself branded like cattle following his father’s death. He had shown her the ugly mark on his otherwise flawless skin, he had told her about how the Dark lord valued him and how they would usher a new era.

The weeks following that revelation had been the worst period of her life, she learned of how Bellatrix and her husband had also joined the Dark lord’s ranks. She had been irritated by how everyone around her suddenly wanted to bow and kiss the hems of the foolish wizard’s robes. The worst blow had been when Regulus admitted to taking the mark. Her youngest cousin, seventeen years old, had destroyed everything – including himself. That was the first time that Narcissa felt truly and utterly cornered. Regulus was the future of her house with Sirius having run away to merlin knows where.

All her planning was for nothing, she was stuck with a fool of a husband and the heir of her house had proven to be just as much of a fool.

The final hit had been when Lucius had started suggesting how the dark lord was looking for more recruits. He had spoken of how her sister had risen in his ranks and that he and Narcissa could surpass the Lestranges. Narcissa had barely been able to hold back her sneer, she had instead been the proper pureblood wife and nodded with a pliant smile.

It wasn’t that Narcissa was some muggle lover. The truth was that she simply didn’t care for them and that her mother had taught her truth behind Dark lords.

Druella Black née Rosier had taught her daughters how to survive and how to thrive. And one lesson that Narcissa would never forget was the one about the worthlessness of Dark Lords. The Rosiers had been supporters of Grindelwald, so Druella Black had seen up front how those kind of wizards destroyed themselves and their followers. Narcissa remembered how her mother had told her to never bow down to anyone but the lord of her house and that was something that she intended to uphold.

It had taken a couple of potions and some seduction on her part to carry out her plan.

The next time Lucius Malfoy brought up his wishes about having his wife joining his lord - Narcissa Malfoy shared the news of her pregnancy.

It was a month later that the blonde witch truly fell pregnant. Her plan worked and Lucius wouldn’t dare bring his lord’s attention to his frail and pregnant wife. Draco and helped her plan by arriving a couple of weeks early. It had taken a toll on her, and her little dragon had been much too small.

She had secluded herself after that by playing frail after the difficult birth and spending all her free time with her new babe. Lucius had been disappointed by his wife’s weak and motherly nature after the birth of his heir and had decided to not bring up the Dark lord again.

It was when the war ended that Narcissa slowly let go off the act.

Lucius had slowly learned that his wife was more of a Slytherin than he first thought.

Narcissa sealed the letter and gave it to the owl. She smirked at her recent successes. Her little dragon had befriended the heir of her house and the friendship gave her hope. She had been a little worried at first when she learned of how a Potter had become the Black heir, but that worry was quickly stilled when she had felt boy’s aura at his second birthday. It had been exhilaratingly thick and potent; its darkness had soothed her very core.

She could have kissed Sirius right there and then for securing such an heir. She and Draco would always be protected with Harry James Potter-Black as their future. She could feel it deeply in her bones.

She was particularly grateful for the werewolf. He had helped her task tremendously. It was pitying how Sirius kept distrusting her, her cousin knows her too well.

Narcissa clicked her tongue and closed the window, Sirius distrust didn’t matter in the end.

Remus Lupin was the perfect pawn on her board, he would make sure that the Black heir would attend Draco’s birthday party.

Yes, Narcissa was witch who knew how to play.
