Chapter 9
The sun shone through the window, James had his arms wrapped around Sirius, once they fell asleep Sirius woke up twice during the night due to nightmares, James was able to soothe Sirius back to sleep but it left James angry that Sirius was back to having nightmares, James slowly got up and started to get ready for breakfast and then it would be their first time doing a lesson, once dressed James ducked down and started kissing Sirius' cheek 'Padfoot, Padfoot, wake up' Sirius slowly woke and looked to his husband 'hey Prongs' James smiled at Sirius 'you going to get ready, first day of lessons?' Sirius' smile dimmed 'I was wondering if I could miss it today?' James stared at Sirius, he looked at his tear stained cheeks and the darkness under his eyes 'are you sure Siri?' Sirius just nodded and looked down, but James would have none of that 'hey' he lifted Sirius' head to meet his eyes 'it's okay, you don't have to rush' Sirius smiled a little 'you coming for breakfast?' Sirius shook his head and looked down again 'I'm not very hungry right now' James nodded and gave Sirius one long kiss 'alright Padfoot, I'll see you later' Sirius nodded, turned in to Padfoot and laid back down, as James left the room he looked back and sighed 'well that's just great' Salazar looked up from the paper he was writing on 'everything okay James?' James looked up to Salazar 'no, I think I'm going to murder someone today' and stormed out of the quarters and and headed to the Great Hall for breakfast, fuming as he knew how the staff reacted to Sirius has resulted in how Sirius is acting right now.
Harry awoke with the rest of his housemates and got ready for breakfast, he and the others were excited as this would be his first lesson with his parents as his teachers, Harry and his friends all went down to the Great Hall and begun eating breakfast, most of the teachers were already sat, as Harry was eating and discussing with Hermione about their upcoming lesson he looked and saw his father entering the hall, Harry frowned his dad was not with him and father looked angry, he watched as his father marched up to where the teachers sat and whispered to Remus and then to Andy and their expressions went from happy to angry fast, he watched his father sit down and angrily gather some food and begin eating, Harry looked back to the Great Hall entrance waiting for his dad to appear, but he never did, Neville looked to Harry 'what's up with your father?' Harry shrugged 'I don't know and dad isn't here either' Hermione looked thoughtful 'maybe they got into an argument?' Harry looked back to his father worried that Hermione was right, when it signalled it was time for their first Transfiguration lesson, Harry wanted to get there early to ask his father where his dad was, so he ran ahead of everyone else. when Harry got to the classroom he saw his father setting up the lesson 'father?' James looked up when he heard his son 'Harry, you okay? did you sleep well?' Harry walked closer to his father 'I'm good and slept well, but where's dad? you're meant to teach this lesson together' James looked at Harry 'we had an issue yesterday at the staff meeting, and it's affected your dad, he'll be okay, just needs some time to himself' Harry sighed in relief 'so you didn't argue then?' James looked to his son is shock 'what, No Harry we didn't argue, I promise, maybe if your dad doesn't come for lunch we'll go and see him okay?' Harry nodded 'I would love that' James nodded and shooed his son to his seat as the rest of the class took their seats 'alright class, as you already know I'm Professor Potter-Black and today we'll be learning to change animals in to cauldrons...'
Sirius awoke sometime later after James left, he got up and stretched then made his way into the lounge where the founders were all doing their own thing 'are you okay my love?' Sirius heard Helga's calming voice 'I'm okay Grandmother, it's just I have all these negative thoughts in my head from the staff meeting, I saw how they all looked at me, I mean these were my teachers, they know I'm innocent, we proved that, but they looked and kept away from me as if I was going to strike at any moment' all founders looked down at their heir, he has had so much bad staff happen to him and is still on the side of good 'that is not your fault Siri' Godric told him 'they're in the wrong, not you' but Sirius just shook his head, 'maybe it would've been better if James was the one who got to live, and I mean not in prison but with our son, he should've been able to raise Harry, no matter what happened to me' all four founders looked on in horror as Sirius begun degrading himself even more, at that same moment as James was finishing off a lesson before lunch, he felt Hogwarts grow more anxious and protective to the point it was suffocating, James quickly as possible ended the lesson before he heard Hogwarts whisper in his mind "get to our Sirius...NOW" James took off running towards the living quarters, at that moment Harry and Remus both heard the same and went running for the quarters as well.
James quickly reached the portrait along with Harry and Remus 'father, Hogwarts said I have to get to dad and quickly' Remus nodded 'was told the same apart but was told Sirius instead of dad' James nodded 'me too' he quickly said the portrait password and went barrelling through along with his son and best friend, when they reached the quarters they heard the tell end of a rant by Sirius '...what else do I have to do to prove myself, maybe it would be better if I wasn't even here, I mean Harry has James and Remus, what does he need me for his messed up excuse for a father' Harry's eyes widened 'no dad, I need you' and went running in to Sirius who turned at Harry's voice 'Harry, what are you doing here?' Harry looked at Sirius with tears in his eyes 'Hogwarts said you needed me, and good thing she did, dad I need you just as much as I need father, I mean you gave birth to me and I know that if I had been raised by you it would've been the best days of my life' Sirius looked at his baby boy who had grown up much too quickly 'Oh Harry' and hugged his son again, he looked up to his husband and best friend staring at him with tears in their eyes 'don't you ever say something like that again, you hear me Siri, we need you, we are family, you are my husband, the love of my life, it would never be better without you' with that said James walked and pulled Sirius into a hug and kiss mindful of their son, Sirius kept a hold of his husband and son, then looked to his best friend 'no Padfoot, you are never to say that again, you are too important for so many people' and then Remus joined in the hug, the founders looked on at the small family proud of them all, while Hogwarts hummed in content that one of her Lords was safe and loved.
