Chapter 2
As the professors and students started looking around wondering what was happening the sound of the Great Hall doors opening directed their attention and to say they were shocked would be an understatement; because there standing in the entryway was a man everyone believed dead; James Potter, the professors stared in shock, Remus Lupin looked in shock and hope as he looked at his once dead best friend, but the most shocked out of everyone was Harry Potter son of James Potter, the silence made James want to laugh, so he did ‘well this is a pleasant reaction’ everyone jumped when he spoke which made him laugh even more, he looked around at the faces of his old professors; Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick and Professor Sprout and also the Hogwarts Healer Madame Pomfrey who looked shocked, and his old best friend; Remus Lupin and some other Professors he recognized, then he saw that greasy haired git; Snivillus, sorry I mean Severus Snape and the two faced, manipulative old coot; Albus Dumbledore, as James looked around at the faces of the students he saw the face of his son, who was looking at him in shock, James smiled at him and made his way over to his son, as he walked to him, he saw everyone following his movements, as he stopped in front of his son, he smiled softly at him ‘hello son’ Harry looked at his father in shock which turned to hope, he stood up, then slowly put his arms around his father’s waist, James smiled widely and had tears in his eyes as he hugged his son tighter ‘I’ve missed you so much’ Harry couldn’t believe he was in his father’s arms at last and just nodded.
James still couldn’t believe he was finally holding his son after so long, as he gently let go of him he saw tears in his son’s eyes ‘Oh Harry’ Harry couldn’t help but smile ‘we have a lot of catching up to do’ Harry nodded in agreement ‘but first I must deal with a few problems and this involves you and a lot of other people who have been lied to’ Harry looked at his dad confused ‘what do you mean?’ James smiled at his son gently ‘you’re about to find out, can you wait for a few minutes’ Harry nodded and sat back down next to Hermione, James nodded and turned and faced the staff table ‘hello everyone, shocked to see me alive?’ it was Professor McGonagall who answered ‘yes, Mr. Potter in fact we are’ James nodded and resisted the temptation to correct her of his surname ‘I thought you would be, but let’s just say what you’re all about to find out will shock you more than me being alive’ everyone now looked confused which James was pleased about ‘but before we begin I have in fact invited some people to join us’ and as he said this the doors to the Great Hall opened again and a strange mixture of people came through; Cornelius Fudge; the Minister For Magic, Amelia Bones; Head of Magical Law, Arthur, Molly, Charlie and Bill Weasley, Lucius and Nacrissa Malfoy, Andromeda and Ted Tonks, Rita Skeeter; writer for the Daily Prophet, Alastor Moody; ex-auror, Nymphadora Tonks; his junior auror as well as Kingley Shacklebolt also an auror and two Goblins Griphook; who was in charge of the Black Family account and Steelclaw; who was in charge of the Potter Family account, James grinned in excitement ‘shall we begin?’
Everyone looked at the group of people in wonder, all wondering what was about to happen, James turned towards his guests ‘first, Rita Skeeter please come forward’ Rita came forward ‘yes Mr. Potter?’ James smiled in excitement ‘I would like you to make a vow saying that what you write about tonight will be the truth and nothing but the truth’ Rita at first was shocked but agreed and made the vow swearing on her magic, James nodded and turned towards Amelia Bones ‘I want to make a vow that everything I say here is the truth and nothing but the truth’ Amelia looked to Moody before she nodded and James made the vow before turning to the rest of the hall ‘right everyone, I’m first starting with the most important thing on my list tonight; the case of Sirius Black’ at once the Great Hall was in an uproar, James looked around once before Moody shouted ‘SILENCE!’ the Great Hall quietened down at once ‘thank-you’ before Amelia turned to James ‘why Mr. Potter do you wish to start with the murderer and the man who sold you and your family to You Know Who?’
Harry who had only just heard this piece of information was shocked then angry at the man who was out there somewhere, but when he turned to looked at his dad he was shocked to see that his dad looked furious at her words, James tried to calm himself knowing Hogwarts would react to his emotions but he couldn’t help it when people were saying things about his Sirius like that, he turned to Amelia and took a deep breath ‘do you want to know what shocked me most when I awoke from my coma?’ everyone looked at James weirdly ‘to wake up and find out that my hu…best friend had broken out of prison and I’m wondering why he was in prison in the first place and then I find out that he was imprisoned there without a trial’ nearly everyone gasp in shock and Amelia looked at Fudge who looked guilty at the words just said, before turning back to James ‘is this true?’ James nodded and pulled out his wand ‘lumos’ and his wand lit up showing he still had his magic ‘and then I find out the crimes in which he was imprisoned for and I’m telling you all right now that 1. Sirius wasn’t the Secret Keeper so he did not sell us out to Voldemort (many people shuddered at his name being said) 2. He did not kill Peter Pettigrew 3. He did not kill the 12 Muggles and 4. He was and never will be a Deatheater’ he took a breath before ‘lumos’ and his want lit up again everyone gasped in shock.
Amelia couldn’t believe what was being uncovered ‘but how do you know this Potter?’ Moody growled (again James resisted the urge to correct everyone about his surname) and everyone was wondering about this as well ‘because he told me himself’ an uproar was about to start again, when Moody glared around the hall ‘and how do you know Black was telling the truth?’ Moody growled again ‘because he gave me an oath, but also I know my Sirius’ when he said this many people looked confused at James calling Sirius his, but none were more confused than Harry ‘but this is where the other part of my story is about to start’ Fudge who was still trying to get over what he just heard asked ‘what do you mean Mr. Potter?’ James took one look around before he sighed ‘I’m guessing everyone knows the story of me and Lily?’ everyone in the room either nodded or said a tiny ‘yes’ James nodded ‘well this is where, what you all know is wrong, me and Lily never dated and we never got married’ there was a loud murmur before James cleared his throat ‘it’s true, in fact the story I’m about to tell you is the truth and one that quite a few of you know’ he then closed his eyes and sighed ‘when I started Hogwarts I made three best friends; Sirius Black, Remus Lupin (with his name said a lot of students turned to look at the professor in shock including Harry) and…Peter Pettigrew’ James spat the name out and everyone was shocked at the animosity that James displayed ‘we were inseparable, but the one I was most closest to was Sirius Black, he was the first Black ever to be sorted in to Gryffindor and that shocked everyone at Hogwarts, as the years went by we played pranks and jokes, during our years at Hogwarts I knew that Sirius was having trouble at home but he refused to tell anyone, in our 5th year Sirius did something very stupid which put another student and one of us in danger because of this we stopped talking to him for 3 months but in them 3 months I realised just how much I missed him and realised that…’ here James paused he was worried about everyone’s reaction ‘I liked him more than just a friend’ and with that declaration there was a loud uproar yet again.
Everyone was shouting out questions but Harry sat there in shock, not only was the man he believed to be a criminal innocent, but his dad had feelings for him, Harry thought that this would freak him out but instead he found what his dad said natural and that confused him, he looked to his dad who was staring at him in worry but Harry smiled and he saw his dad smile back at him, James was glad to find Harry was okay with what he just said ‘it was the summer holidays and a few days in to the holidays there was a knock at my door late at night, me and my parents answered the door to a beaten and bloodied Sirius’ everyone, including the professors gasped ‘in that moment my anger at him was gone and when we asked him what happened he said that he had another fall out with his family, it was then he told us that his parents tried to force him to take the Dark Mark from Voldemort himself (here everyone gasped and the professors and Remus looked shocked at this explanation, for Remus it was because neither James nor Sirius told him the reason why Sirius ran away), he asked to stay, and we of course let him and from then on he stayed until the end of school, it was during that time, that I finally admitted to him my feelings and as it turned out he had felt the same way about me since second year, we got together and when we returned to Hogwarts we continued with our relationship and everyone knew we were dating’
Remus was shocked to hear what James said and was wracking his brain trying to remember his two friends dating but finding he couldn’t, James turned to looked at Remus ‘in our last year Sirius took me up to the Astronomy Tower and proposed to me’ everyone in the Great Hall gasped and James suspected there would be a lot of gasping tonight ‘I obviously said yes, and when we graduated we married shortly after, then we joined the Auror Academy where we trained under Mad Eye-Moody himself’ James turned to looked at Moody as did most of the Great Hall ‘that is correct, and they were the best damn team of Aurors I ever trained, when they were together it was like they shared one brain’ James smiled ‘we definitely did, after a few missions, I noticed something was wrong with Sirius, he was more cautious when we were on missions instead of his reckless self and seemed to always be protective of himself, when I asked him what was wrong he at first told me it was nothing but after he finally told me that he was in fact pregnant’ with that everyone turned to look at Harry who looked at his dad in shock.
After Harry heard the news that Sirius was the one who was pregnant with him, Harry began to realize that he had both his parents and he realised that was why he thought Sirius looked familiar and why he felt sick and angry whenever anyone said anything bad against him, slowly tears were gathering in his eyes ‘months past and when it was time he gave birth to a beautiful baby boy’ all eyes turned to Harry even his dad’s ‘we named him Harry James Sirius Potter-Black’ Harry was shocked to hear his full name and looked at his dad with wonder in his eyes ‘Lily was actually present at the birth as was Remus Lupin’ all eyes once again turned to Remus who was looking at James in shock and confusion ‘and we named them both Godparents’ Harry turned to Remus who was looking shocked and was wondering why Remus looked shocked ‘then we found out that Voldemort was after us, we went in to hiding, we went under the Fidelus Charm and asked Peter to be our Secret Keeper’ with that everyone was leaning forwards in their seats while Rita’s quill was writing frantically ‘Peter told Lily and Remus where we were as they were Harry’s godparents, on Halloween night, Sirius said he was going to check on Peter, at first I didn’t want him to go but I knew that he wanted to make sure he was safe so he went and Lily was visiting at that time, but then Voldemort came and I told Lily to take Harry and run while I tried to hold him off, as he was about to curse me I felt the Black Family magic shield me from the curse which put me in a coma, the magic also shielded Harry from the killing curse when Voldemort tried to kill him’ here James stopped, ‘Mr. Potter, what happened next?’ Amelia asked, James looked around the room ‘well I was unconscious for the rest of it but Sirius knows what happened next’ Fudge looked at James in shock ‘you mean to tell us Black is here?’ James smiled ‘he sure is, and I’m sure he’d be glad to finish off the story’ Amelia took a look at James ‘call him in’ everyone was shocked at what Madame Bones just said but then remembered that he was apparently innocent, James smiled ‘of course’ and moved forward a bit then shouted ‘PADFOOT!’
