Chapter 5

Hermione was sure of at least three things when she woke up.

One. She was lying in a hospital bed.

Two. She had definitely hit her head, as it was currently aching.

Three. Draco Malfoy definitely had his memories back.

“You don’t get to just come in here and make demands, Malfoy!”

“You may not realize this Weasley but if it wasn’t for my father we would already be married!”

“But you’re not, are you! You have no reason to be here, you need to leave before she wakes up!”

Before Hermione could comprehend who Draco was arguing with, he rushed to her side as soon as he noticed her eyes were open. She hadn’t even noticed the three other sets of eyes on her yet.

“Hermione sweet Salazar, it’s really you. I was so scared to think what had happened to you as soon as I regained my memories.”

Hermione couldn’t even begin to think of what to say, she had been waiting over four years for his memories to come back to him, but now that they are she wasn’t sure she was actually ready. Before she could think of anything else a little girl with wild curls came running in the door and jumped up in the bed with her, not paying any attention to the grey eyes that followed her.

“Mommy, mommy we so worried. Nana Molly said you got a boo boo on your head.”

Molly came rushing right behind her. “Sorry dear, this little one overheard Ginny in the floo call and demanded to see you, there’s no telling that darling girl no” everyone in the room seemed to chuckle, besides Draco.

Hermione held her daughter closer to her and nestled her head into her neck. “Mommy is okay Lyra, I just had an accident.” She leaned down and kissed her curls to reassure the small girl she was okay. Draco finally came out of his thoughts and moved himself away from the bed.

“You…you have a kid. Umm well congrats Granger.” Draco said with a look of defeat. He knew she wasn’t going to wait around but looking at the size of her daughter she definitely moved on pretty fast.

“Should I call Arthur in to bring the other little one to see you, he seemed worried too, just didn’t voice it.”

Hermione just nodded, not taking her eyes off Draco. She wasn’t sure he had connected the dots or not. She could see the wheels in his head turning as he looked at the little girl, but she knew as soon as he saw Leo, he knew he would be the father. While they both took after Hermione in her curls, they had blonde hair. Lyra was more of a dirty blonde, not quite as light as Draco’s but definitely not as dark as Hermiones. Now her son was much different, his hair was quite a few shades lighter than his sisters, still not quite the same shades as Draco’s, but if you were to put them side by side there wouldn’t be much of a difference. And as soon as Arthur brought Leo in, Hermione knew that Draco knew the way his eyes widened and his breathing got heavy.

“I think it’s best if everyone were to leave. I need to speak to Hermione. Alone.” Draco said with a very calm but yet authoritative tone. Molly went to grab Lyra but she latched herself on to Hermione’s neck.

“You can leave the kids, bring Leo here, he can lay on the other side of me.” She stretched her hands out and Leo quickly rushed himself into his mothers arms. One by one her guest left her and Draco alone, each of them thinking the same thing, Draco is the father of the twins.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Draco asked, his voice barely above a whisper but still very accusing.

“When should I have told you huh? When you were about to marry Astoria? Or maybe I should’ve rushed to Malfoy Manor and yelled it through the halls.”

“You could have told me before I married Astoria, I saw you that day in the Ministry.”

“I couldn’t tell you Draco.”

“What aren’t you telling me?”

“It was Lucius…”

“What did he do Hermione?” At this point his voice was getting louder as he was pacing at the end of her hospital bed.

“The night you went to tell your parents, I was worried when you didn’t come back so I went to your flat looking for you. Well Lucius was there waiting for me. He knew where my parents were Draco. He threatened them and me. Told me he would kill them if I got in the way of you. I had already lost you, I couldn’t take the chance of losing them too.” At this point Hermione was crying and trying her best not to let her voice crack, she made sure never to cry in front of the twins.

Leo looked up at her and wiped the tears that fell from her cheeks. “Mommy, why you cry. I don’t like you sad” he whispered to her. All she could do is cry harder and hold her babies even closer to her.

Draco rushed to her side and kissed the top of her curls, like she did with her twins.

“I swear Hermione, I am going to make this right. You just have to trust me. My father will not come between us again. I’ll relocate your parents for you so he can’t use them against you.”

“You don’t need to do that Draco, I already did, about 2 years ago, but thank you.” She smiled up at him. She knew she shouldn’t let him do this, she had worked so hard for her life in America. But all the hours at work and the different men she went on pointless dates with could never fill the hole that was in her heart. That was reserved for the one Draco Malfoy.

“Promise me you won’t go back without speaking to me first, please Hermione” he looked so broken, like if she left he wouldn’t be whole either.

All she could do was nod her head, as she didn’t trust her voice at that moment. Before she could even think about what he did, he leaned in and kissed her. It wasn’t a long kiss, but it was enough to make her heart flutter and her stomach flip. And with that he was out of the door. Neither one of the twins were paying the adults any attention and she was grateful for that, she did not want them even more confused.

Malfoy Manor

Draco busted through the floo on a mission to see his father, he didn’t stop has his mother yelled out behind him, he knew she would try to talk him down. But at this moment he needed his rage, he needed the feeling of betrayal, because he knew what his father was like and he would not let him get away with this. He didn’t even knock when he got to his father’s study. He left the door wide open as he stared at his father, sitting there smug, not even acknowledging him.

“Father, we need to talk.” Lucius finally looked up from his paper and eyed his son.

“This conversation is actually about 4 years late, give or take”

Lucius looked like he had seen a ghost, he knew exactly what he wanted to talk about, he just wasn’t sure how he found out, all he knew is that mudblood was going to pay for ruining this.
