Summary
I see no difference. Four, little words that sound so harsh. And yet, two people discover that the phrase means so much more below the surface.Cross-posted on FanFiction.net.Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.
Note
Being a huge fan of the series, this is, surprisingly, my first Harry Potter fic. I never expected to hold off on writing an HP fic for so long, as it is my absolute favorite series of all. I guess I underestimated the hold that the Alex Rider fandom had on me. For anyone who keeps up with my AR fics, don't worry, I'm still working on my two unfinished ones! xDI've always thought that Snape's reaction to Hermione being hit by Malfoy's stray Densaugeo hex to be particularly callous. He may be a bully, but he usually directs his nastiest comments to Harry and those he deems incompetent. And even then, he still doesn't tend to comment on physical traits. It's been awhile since I read the books, but from what I remember (please do correct me with examples if I'm wrong), he mostly leaves Hermione alone unless she is being super annoying with her eagerness to answer questions in class or gets lumped in with Harry and Ron's wrongdoings. Since she kept to herself in this scene, I find his reaction significant and have never forgotten that line. So, this is (finally) an attempt to flesh out that significance and add my own spin to it. I have four little one-shots for this collection, which I will post one each week. If I get enough people wanting me to continue this, I'll write some one-shots for their fifth to seventh years as well. :)Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. Obviously. Also, all page numbers are from the original cover versions of the books.Anyways, enjoy!
