Chapter 25
Percy couldn’t believe he didn’t think of this earlier, if anyone knew what was wrong with him it would be Dumbledore. Laughing a little as he walked he couldn’t believe he forgot the most powerful wizard alive. His mother always said that Dumbledore never missed anything. He would know what was going on and be able to fix it.
Sure he wasn’t happy with Dumbledore’s part in his mind being messed with. But he was sure that he thought it was for the best. He was Albus Dumbledore after all. As he got to the gargoyle standing guard in front of Dumbledore’s. Just as he was trying to think of what to say, he was pulled away roughly.
After being pulled down the corridor he ripped his arm away. The grip had been so tight the person had on him his robe’s sleeve tore. Without looking up he yelled at the offending person. “What do you think you’re doing?” His parents couldn’t afford to get him new robes.
“Calm down,” the voice said.
“I will not calm down. You can’t just go around pulling people and ruining their robes. You owe me a new robe.” He finally looked up and up and up. Percy wasn’t short, in fact he was tall for his age, but this man was huge. Something about him seemed familiar. “Umm, excuse me but who are you? You look a little old to be student and I know all the professors.” He had learned them when he thought he was going to be Prefect.
The man didn’t answer, all he did was put his hand over Percy’s mouth and carry him out of the school. For the first time in his memory no one was in the corridors, not even Peeves.
The portraits at least saw what was happening. He heard several demand for the man to let him go. One called the man by name and then Percy remembered who he was. Thorfinn Rowle, he was a Death Eater but escaped from going to Azkaban after He-who-must-not-be-named died. The man had been able to cast a spell that Percy knew had to be dark. Not only did it stop all movements from Percy, but it made his body feel like it was over a fire.
Percy was still able to see the things around him, just not move his head. The man was running now that they were out of the castle. Once they got off the grounds the man would be able to do anything with him. Because he was still thrown over the man’s shoulder, he was able to see the front of the castle. He saw the castle doors swing open, but he couldn’t see who it was. A spell was shot at them but just then Thorfinn crossed the boundary and then he felt like he was being pulled apart. This had to be what side disaperation felt like when the rider didn’t go voluntarily. He stopped fighting it because he didn’t want to become splinched.
Molly listened as Dumbledore explained that Percy had been taken. “I don’t understand, there are supposed to be protections,” she said, her temper coming to the surface. She had to leave Lucy with the Lovegoods, little Luna would be starting Hogwarts after the summer. She didn’t like leaving the baby with people so flighty, but it was better than bringing a baby to a school where one child had just been kidnapped.
“My dear Molly, no protections are foolproof. I do everything I can but there is always a loophole.”
That wasn’t a good excuse, her son could be anywhere now with anything happening to him. She knew he was a grown man in a body of a teen now but as it stands he doesn’t remember that. Meaning he doesn’t remember how to protect himself. She didn’t even know if he could have it when he was older. He was her thinker, the one that didn’t like fighting.
“Don’t you dear Molly me. We trust our children are safe here, now you’re saying they can never be safe here.” She should have known that already with Percy almost dying already.
“I don’t think he means it that way,” Arthur said, always trying to play peacemaker.
Just then the door burst open and Severus Snape, Sirius Black and Terence walked through the door.
“Why are we just standing around when Percy is getting further and further away,” Terence demanded.
The minister who had gotten there about the time she did, spoke. “I really don’t think this is the business of a student,” he said snidely. Arthur may have to listen to him, but she was about to hex him if he didn’t have every auror looking for her son. Percy always got the least of everything and she was just coming to realize that. All the children would gang up on him because he was the most different from all of them. Her rough and tumble boys and her just as tough daughter had made sure Percy knew he didn’t belong. Guilt ate at her for not doing more to stop it.
“Like bloody hell, he’s my boyfriend and we have a child together,” Terence snapped.
Fudge’s eyes went wide. “I didn’t know young Mr. Weasley was that kind of boy.”
“And what kind is that?” Severus asked coolly.
“The kind that gets himself in trouble at such a young age. In my day he wouldn’t be allowed to stay at Hogwarts.”
“Professor Dippet and I do things differently, Cornelius.”
Fudge sucked in a breath and Molly knew she wasn’t going to like what he said. It may have taken a while for her to get over the shock about not only Percy’s pregnancy but him being from the future. Now she knew the others were right, no one else should find out about that.
“MY SON IS NOT EXPENDABLE!” she yelled.
“No one is saying he is, Molly,” Dumbledore said lightly.
“Are we sure he was taken and didn’t just run off?” Fudge asked.
Molly grabbed her wand from her apron, she had been cooking when they got the news. Before she could do anything that would get her thrown in Azkaban a hand closed over hers. She looked up and saw it was Sirius Black. Sirius shook his head, knowing he was right, she slid her wand back in her apron.
“Now if everyone would settle, Aurors Proudfoot and Savage will seek the boy,” Fudge said sternly.
“No, I want Auror Moody,” Molly demanded.
Fudge laughed. “I can not waste one of my best aurors on a runaway with loose morals.”
“I will not have you speak that way about any of my students, Minister. We have witnesses that the boy was taken, and I know who by.”
“Well, why didn’t you say so in the first place?” Fudge questioned.
“You didn’t ask. The portraits have told me that Thorfinn Rowle caste a dark magic curse that’s fallen out of modern knowledge called Hegrixus. The curse causes burning pain and paralysis. Not only the portraits but we had a first year who tried to stop the kidnapping, but he was hampered by the protection spells, inexperience and magical strength because of his age.”
“Who was this Dumbledore? I would like to speak with them,” Fudge said. He was squeezed in a chair that looked made for a child.
“Draco Malfoy. But seeing the kidnapping of a student and his guilt about not being able to help was very upsetting to him. Madam Pomfrey had to give him a sleeping potion.”
Molly had gone to school with Narcissa and Lucius, it was hard to believe any child of theirs would try to save one of hers. But until she knew the boy she would withhold her option.
“I can’t spare Auror Moody, but Auror Kingsley has just gotten back from assignment, I’m sure he is acceptable to you?” Fudge asked.
“Yes, Minister, that would be helpful,” Arthur said before she could open her mouth. There was no other choice but to go home at least until morning, but then she would start her own search, she would have Charlie and Bill help. Bill had gotten extremely protective of Percy since he came back.
It took both Sirius and Severus to pull Terence out of the Headmaster’s office. The boy wanted to go out and search for Percy at this very moment.
“Get in there,” Severus said as he pushed Terence in this classroom.
“Oh, don’t pretend you care now. You didn’t want me before so don’t act like you do now.”
“Terence, I know it’s easy to take your anger out on him. I do it for fun, but he’s not to blame for Percy being taken. While you can’t go looking for him and neither can Severus, I can. I promise, I will find him.” Sirius looked at Severus. “Do you know where old Thorfinn is these days?”
“I have a few guesses, but I don’t think even Rowle is stupid enough to go to those places.”
“I wouldn’t bet on that. The amount of bludgers he’s taken to the head couldn’t have made him smarter.”
“I can’t listen to this anymore, I’m going to my room,” Terence said, storming out of the room.
“I’ll make sure he’s in his dorm later,” Severus said. “Do you think you can really find the boy?”
“It’s either that or lose our son too.”
Severus could feel Sirius looking at him and he didn’t like it one bit. Here he was trying to work out where Rowle would take Percy and Sirius was staring. Getting his memories back about what it was like between them for a time was good. But it didn’t erase the memories of after that night. Potter and Black ganging up on him, Lupin turning a blind eye to it all. Then there was Pettigrew, wanted to be like the two buffoons but not having the talent. There was no way that Severus could forget and forgive all the terrible things they did. Sure, he did stuff to them, but it was usually in defense.
“Would you be so kind and stop staring at me,” he ground out to Sirius.
“I was wondering something but I’m not sure how you will take it.”
“Don’t start having human decency now on my account. Just ask and leave, you have something to be doing.”
“You’re a half-blood.”
“Well spotted,” Severus ground out.
“Well, I was always told that only purebloods could have a child if they were male.”
Severus laughed. “Pureblood hogwash. You purebloods always do think you have this power that half-bloods and muggleborns don’t. It’s the magic not the blood.”
“It’s the magic in the blood.”
Severus laughed bitterly. “I’m a better wizard than almost all of you purebloods.”
Now it was Sirius’s turn to laugh. “Right. We had you beat every time.”
“You said it. WE. You could never beat me one on one. You and Potter couldn’t wait to gang up on me. Lupin turning his head so you could keep the torture up. I could have killed both of you…all four of you but I didn’t. I just wanted to make my mother proud.”
“Did you?”
“No.”
There was nothing else to say after that and thankfully Sirius left.
“I know you’re awake, open your eyes,” the voice gently demanded.
Opening his eyes, he was assaulted by lights shining in his eyes. His eyes adjusted to the light, and he was staring at the face of someone he and everyone had thought to be dead.
“I know who you are,” he croaked, his voice raw.
“I’m glad I haven’t all the way forgotten in the magical world. You look hurt.” The man turned and looked at the brute who had stolen him from the school. “I told you not to hurt him. If you’re going to get rid of that,” the man said, pointing at the big man’s forearm, “you’ll have to play nice.” The huge man just grunted and shrugged. “Sorry about him, he’s more brawn than brain.”
“How are you here? You’re dead.”
“That is a long and not very pleasant story. I found out you and I want the same thing.”
Percy tried to sit up, but he was tied down by some spell.
“Sorry, can’t let you loose until we know we’re on the same page, mate.”
“You’re talking about the Horcruxes, aren’t you?”
“Voldemort is gone but not. The mark was supposed to leave our skin on only two occasions. We die or he does. It’s still there so he’s not truly gone.”
“Why haven’t you done anything before?”
“I thought it was best to stay dead. That was until I read a newspaper about the wrongly convicted Sirius Black being released. I want to see my brother again.”
