Part 2
Theo sat in the room of requirement, staring at a wall. It wasn't a particularly interesting wall and it had no role of importance whatsoever. It was just a plain brick wall he had been staring at for Merlin knew how long. He wanted Cassie back.
He knew he probably spent way too much time thinking about her given the drama of all the things going on, but try telling his heart that. He felt like he had been ripped in half when she died.
A whisper was heard. Theo jerked out of his trance and his chair. He whipped around. Had it just been his imagination?
No! There it was again! A little louder but still indistinguishable.
"Hello!" He called out, eyes scanning his surroundings.
The voice came again. It sounded strangely like Cassie. It was calling him, asking him to follow.
Theo contemplated. This was how muggles died in horror movies. Cassie had explained this to him. Just don't do anything stupid. That was how to survive these scenarios.
The voice grew more persistent and more Cassie-like. Theo pulled out his wand and started walking in the direction it was telling him to go, mentally kicking himself for his curiosity. He pushed open a door and followed a dark and narrow passageway downwards. Or was it upwards? He couldn't tell. He just kept going. Up and down the path went around a few bends.
He didn't know where he was anymore.
He kept walking.
He met another door. This one was heavy. Probably oak. Struggling, Theo pushed it open.
He fell. The ground beneath his feet had dissapeared. The air was rushing past him. It didn't seem like he would stop.
He grappled for his wand to cast ‚Aresto Momento'.
His wand slipped out of his grasp.
He was going to die.
Theo screamed.
It all went black.
"Sup!"
Theo blinked his eyes open. It took a while for his vision to focus. His surroundings resembled an old library. Brown eyes were watching him intently. Eyes he knew well from staring into them for hours on end.
"Cassie!" Theo gasped, not believing it.
She grinned, her beautiful, chocolate brown eyes lighting up.
"How are you doing?" she asked him. Merlin, how he had missed her voice. Warm and kind as the sun on a spring day.
Theo fell forward, tackling her into a hug. Her hair still had that faint scent of rose shampoo clinging to it and tickled his nose in the way he remembered.
"I thought you were dead!"
"Technically," Cassie said, "I still am."
She rubbed his back awkwardly. How was she going to explain all this. Had it really been the right decision?
What would he do when she disappeared all over again?
"What do you mean?" Theo asked his voice as watery as the black lake.
"This is a dream, Theo." Cassie bit her lip. "I will be there when you wake up, but as a ghost."
Theo was silent. His face, already pale, was starting to look like flour colour-wise. „What?"
„I'll be a ghost."
„What?"
„I'm still dead, I just got a bit of astral energy on loan from Rowena Ravenclaw so I could help."
Theo had tears running down his cheeks again, each one pulling at Cassie's heart.
She hugged him again, knowing it was the last time she would be able to physically do so.
