Chapter 1

Verde was no stranger to explosions. They had been a part of his life since he was eleven years old, and he’s caused more than his fair share of them after getting his first lab. Science was all about trying new things, and more often than not, that resulted in explosions. Or sometimes nothing at all but Verde preferred the explosions more. Even a minor explosion that barely singed his hair was better than a dud.

It probably wasn’t good for his health, or the mental health of everyone who associated with him, but Verde always felt like something was missing when he didn’t have a daily explosion.
Despite this little quirk, Verde tried to be careful when it concerned his experiments. He followed all lab safety rules to the letter. Unless he was actively working on an experiment, everything would be put away and out of reach from children. Skull specifically but Colonello wasn’t much better.

However despite Verde’s usual carefulness, he was still human. Even he could make mistakes. He allowed his lab to get cluttered as he moved all his ongoing experiments to one place. Thanks to Sawada Tsunayoshi, the Arcobaleno curse was broken. As a result, the now former Arcobaleno had been living together in order to ride out the growth spurts. This also allowed them to stabilize their flames, since they all had guardian bonds with each other after spending decades under the same curse.

Verde wasn't willing to put any of his experiments on hold while this was going on, so he brought them with him to Italy. That was the only reason his two most delicate experiments ended up next to each other. On one side of the table was the experiment from his lab in China. Verde was attempting to create different effects to the Bovino’s Ten Year Bazooka by making different types of bullets.
The other side of the table held what Verde was currently working on. He was dissecting a Time-Turner in order to make his own, but better. He had many modifications he wanted to try out on a Time-Turner, but first he needed to learn how to make them himself. He needed to know how they worked, and every single component to their creation.

In the end, everything happened because of a single cup of coffee. Verde had went to refill his cup, and on the way back to his seat had bumped the table. That slight bump sent one of the bazooka’s ammunition rolling across the table. Verde only had enough time to see what he had knocked over before the bullet rolled into the exposed sand of the Time-Turner. The resulting explosion was bigger than any Verde had made before. He barely managed to coat himself in his flames before he was thrown into the wall and his world went black.

When Verde awoke, it was to loud banging and a screeching voice he hadn't heard since he became a scientist. Opening his eyes, Verde realized he couldn't see worth a shit. His eyesight hadn't been this bad since he had them fixed when he was twenty. Verde did not like where the signs were pointing. It took a few minutes, but Verde was eventually able to recognize his surroundings. He cursed. It was just his luck that he’d end up shunted back to his younger body. Only this time, it looked like he ended up back in the past with it instead of just trapped in a smaller form.
