“But why are you hiring a nanny for Ephie? I am perfectly capable of taking care of her.” Harry said, crossing his arms, pouting. 

“Of course you are, love.” His mom said. “But do you want to be here alone, all day, no help from anyone while dad and I are at work, with a 4 year old? You have that college class you’re taking, you like to work out...You’d have to wake her up, feed her, entertain her, deal with nap time, everything— all alone. Plus towards the end of the summer you’ll have training for football too, I’m thinking you probably don’t want to do that completely alone.” Harry thought for a moment. Yeah… that would be pretty challenging. 

“Ok… but is it gonna be some old woman who I can’t even talk to?” Lily laughed and shook her head.

“Of course not. We want Ephie to like them. We have a couple people coming today for interviews. A woman named Angela, she’s 26 and looking for something to do this summer while she’s on break from school. A man named Christopher who’s 23, he just graduated with a degree in teaching and wants to get his feet wet before starting at a school. And the last one is a boy named Draco, I know I thought his name was a bit different too but I mean… we know a Sirius so, anyways he’s your age and why do you look like that?” Lily asked as Harry was filled with horror. 

Draco Malfoy. She had to be talking about Draco Malfoy, I mean how many other Draco’s could there be in this town. Harry had a huge, embarrassing crush on Draco and has since he transferred to his school in the beginning of sophomore year. So that’s why Harry felt like his heart was beating out of his chest. 

“N-nothing! I… he goes to my school so I just know him. I mean- I don’t like know him but I know… you know, who he is- We! I, uh we had biology together last semester!” His mom was giving him a weird and somehow all-knowing look. 

“Oh, is he a nice boy?” She said with a smile. Harry forced and begged and pleaded with the blush on his face to go away and he nodded. 

“Yes, he’s nice. I… I’m gonna go to my room.” He practically ran to his room and pulled his phone out.

Draco closed his phone and took a deep breath. He arrived at the house and it was pretty massive, so that made him a little more nervous, but Lily seemed really nice. He needed a new job, he absolutely hated working at the stupid deli by his apartment. He took one more calming breath and knocked on the door. The air was knocked out of him when he saw who answered.

Harry Potter. The thing about Harry Potter is that he is the most beautiful man Draco had ever seen in real life. Harry is at least six feet tall, light green eyes, has perfect brown skin (seriously, Draco had never seen him with a pimple… ever.), black shaggy hair that is so perfectly imperfect… he’s gorgeous. 

But seriously…Harry Potter!? The captain of the football team… the most popular guy in their school… who probably didn’t even know that Draco existed… It had to be Harry Potter’s house? 

“Uh…” Said Draco, intelligently. “Uh, I’m Draco.” Harry laughed and Draco wanted to die. He just wanted to die. 

“I know that.” Harry said and Draco wanted to run away and keep whatever dignity he had left… but he needed this job. Of course he knew that, if nothing else his mom would have told him Draco’s name. “We had biology together last semester? I sat behind you.” Harry added, smiling. Draco could’ve fallen over right there. Harry Potter knew who he was… like actually?

“Right… no, I knew that… I just didn’t think you’d remember me.” Draco immediately regretted that and wished his mother never taught him how to speak. “I just… you know… you’re you.” Again with the speaking thing. Draco was bright red now. Harry had a slight smirk, like that helped his issue at all. 

“I am me.” Harry said with a small laugh. “But, you’re you. You were in the musical last year. You did great.” Draco’s eyes almost budged out of his head. 

“You saw the musical?” He was genuinely shocked. He didn’t think jocks or guys who played sports would go to a musical. 

“I did. One of my best friends was in it, Lavender? Brown?” Draco nodded. Duh.

“Oh. Yeah, Lavender is really sweet. She did great as Belle.” Harry nodded and smiled. 

“She killed it! But so did you! Lumière seems like a tough role. You were amazing.” This definitely didn’t help Draco’s blushing situation. Harry had not only seen the musical, but remembered the part Draco had in it? “Anyways, why don’t you come in? Mom, dad and Ephie are waiting in the living room.” Harry closed the door behind Draco and led him into what was probably the most beautiful house he’d ever seen. He thought Pansy’s house was nice, but seeing this house… it wasn’t too big where you feel like it’s just unnecessary but it was very nice. They walked into the living room and Lily motioned for Draco to sit down in the chair across from the couch, while Harry walked into the kitchen.

“Hi Draco!” The woman, who Draco assumed was Lily, said kindly. Lily is very beautiful, in a way that makes you stop to catch your breath. She has long red hair, pale white skin with freckles all over and the same beautiful green eyes as Harry.

“I’m Lily.” She continued. “And this is my husband James.” She motioned to the man sitting next to her, he smiled and nodded. James is a handsome older man who Harry clearly took after, except the eyes. James has darker brown skin, black hair, shaggy like Harry’s, but contrasting Harry are his dark brown eyes. “And this is little Miss Ephie.” Ephie looked up and waved for about a second before continuing to play with her doll. Ephie clearly favored Lily more, but still looked a bit like James as well. She has a lighter brown skin tone (contrasting both James and Harry, who both had darker skin) but had black hair like James and Harry. However, her face looked almost identical to Lily’s.

“Hi, it’s really nice to meet you all.” Draco said, he hoped he didn’t sound nervous. 

“Harry tells us you go to school together.” James said, sort of as a question. Draco nodded. 

“Yeah! I moved to this area when I was a sophomore and I transferred to Godric’s High.” 

“Where did you live before?” Suddenly he was just talking to James and Lily like he’d known them forever, they were so nice and after a while he didn’t even feel like he was being interviewed. 

“Is there a specific reason you want to be a nanny, or just looking for a job?” Asked Lily. 

“I am looking for a new job, that’s for sure. But I also really love kids. I volunteer after school at a preschool sometimes for kids who have to stay late and I love it. I think when I go to college I’m going to study early childhood education.”

“We think you’d be a perfect fit for us this summer.” James said smiling wide. “Would you like the job?”

“Yes!” He said, almost too loudly, he laughed a bit. “Uh… yes, I do. When do you want me to start?” 

“As soon as possible would be great.” Lily said. 

“Monday?” Draco asked. 

“Perfect.” He gathered up the few things they’d given him, they wanted him to fill out a form with some basic information, and grabbed his bag. 

“Well, I’ll see you on Monday, Ephie!” Ephie smiled and nodded. 

“Okay Draco!” Harry wandered back into the room, smiling. 

“Looks like we’re going to be seeing a lot more of each other.” Curse Harry Potter’s amazing smile and Draco’s light skin that detects even the smallest blush. 

“I guess so.” Harry followed him to the door. 

“Have a good afternoon, Draco.” The way he said his name… Draco was never going to survive this job.

When he got to the bus stop he pulled out his phone to text his friends.

Draco hated his friends. Ok, so he didn’t. Of course he loved them, but they were crazy if they thought that Harry Potter would ever like him. Even if he was into guys, he wouldn’t be into Draco? No way.

When he got home, he pulled up Harry’s Instagram and was just scrolling through his pictures. He had a lot with his friends, and a lot with some girls… Harry said Lavender was just a friend but he had pictures with Luna Lovegood and Hermione Granger too… they were both gorgeous. He knew Parvati Patil was gay… but he was probably into one of these cheerleader friends. He saw a post where he didn’t have a shirt on. It was clearly after football practice because he was sweaty. There were other guys in the picture, some of Harry’s friends on the team, and they were all flexing their muscles, but making funny faces. There was nothing funny about how Harry looked though. Draco zoomed in, to get a better look at Harry and then the worst, most catastrophic, most life ruining thing happened— he accidentally liked that picture…from a year ago. He was fucked. He couldn’t unlike it because either way Harry would get a notification. Time to die.

He was getting ready to lock his phone and jump out of his window when he got a DM.
