Remus stared up at the ceiling of the dorm room. It was one of those nights, he could feel it in his bones, he would sit in melancholy trying to suppress his feelings through the sweet burn of pot in his lungs. He stood, approaching the widow of the dorm making sure to avoid the creaky floorboards so as not to wake any of his friends. He crouched next to the window pulling the loose skirting board back where he hid his stash. He pulled out the small tin he kept his joints in and carefully moved the skirting board back into place. Remus stood and opened up the window a light breeze chilling his bones. Remus sat out on the windowsill, opened the tin and took a joint out of it. He snapped his fingers and lit his joint inhaling slowly, the smoke scratching at the back of Remus’ throat, burning at it in an almost pleasurable way as he sat leaning further out the window to try and stop the smell of weed filling up the dorm.
He was feeling the effects of what he’d been smoking hit him. He stared, eyes half lidded, out into the night, the waxing moon illuminating the darkness and the air mostly silent apart from the sounds of leaves rustling from the wind. He watches the air as smoke billows out of his mouth after taking his last drag of the joint, and vanishes what's left with a flick of his wrist. Remus thought about Sirius, his lips, his eyes, his hair, the way shadows would fall over his face in such gorgeous patterns. That's what he did most nights like this one, he sat, smoked and thought about Sirius.
“Remus?” a voice groggily calls out from behind him. Remus snaps his head round as fast as he can in his intoxicated state and sees the beautiful figure of Sirius Black staring up at him through tired eyes. “What are you doing…” Sirius leans over towards his clock to check the time, “it’s two in the morning”.
“Shit, didn’t think I would wake any of you.” Remus stared down at Sirius trying to figure out his next move.
“I mean the dorm reeks of pot, what’d you expect?” Sirius states, noting Remus’ red eyes and the tired smile that rests on his face. Sirius sat for a second seeming to be considering something. “Hey Remus, could I try one? I mean I see you smoking every now and then and thought maybe you might enjoy some company, I don’t know.” Sirius said, unsure and scratching his neck nervously, he glanced at Remus, a light pink dusting covering his cheeks as if he was embarrassed even asking. Remus startles at Sirius’ question, Sirius asking Remus for a joint was the last thing he expected of this interaction. He sat for a moment saying nothing, just staring at Sirius while his brain tried to catch up to him, “Oh, er yeah gimme a second to check how many I have left” Remus finally replied. Sirius smiled at him and stood, he gazed up at Sirius once again admiring the way the beams of light from the moon illuminated his face, Remus stared at Sirius noticing how lovely Sirius looked in the moonlight. Slowly, Remus took a new joint out of the small tin that was still placed next to him on the windowsill. He failed to notice how intently Sirius’ gaze sat on his fingers, mesmerised by fragility he was treating the joint with, then slowly moved up to Remus’ lips looking at the with what could only be described as longing. Sirius was broken from his thoughts by Remus’ voice, “Hey wanna see something cool?” He asked not entirely expecting an answer. Sirius inclined his head nodding slightly, Remus took this as a yes, he brought the joint up towards his lips then snapped his fingers lighting the joint.
“Holy shit, how’d you do that.” Sirius asked awed.
“I taught it to myself after my lighter ran out, you’d be surprised how difficult it is to find a lighter when I’m staying in Hogwarts and how annoying it is to use my wand every time I wanna smoke.” Remus replied nonchalantly. Remus passed the joint over to Sirius watching Sirius as he stared at it like a foregin object. “Here, you know what to do, yeah?” Remus questioned, hazily.
“I’ll figure it out moony, don’t worry.” Sirius responded, plucking the joint from Remus’ fingertips, bringing it to his lips and inhaling. Sirius coughed, loudly and Remus giggled at him trying to shush him at the same time. They both turned and looked over at James and Peter who, luckily for them, were both still asleep. Remus was still trying to suppress his giggling by shoving his arm in his mouth and Sirius was trying to stop coughing pressing his hand over his whole face, they both had tears in their eyes from both laughing and coughing.
“Shut- shut the fuck up.” Sirius spluttered out, with tears in his eyes from coughing, “I’m trying over here okay.” Remus, still giggling, looked up at Sirius who was now also sitting up on the window ledge and slowly moved forwards and lay his head on sirius’ lap.
“Is this okay?” Remus asked, blinking up at him through clouded eyes.
“Course it is Moony, It’s always okay with you.” Sirius replied, he then once again brought the joint to his lips and inhaled slower this time, only choking a little and then breathing out into the night air. Moonlight spilled from the window, perfectly lighting Sirius’ features in all the right ways. He looked back down at Remus who once again seemed to be trying to suppress laughter at Sirius choking. “I didn’t take you for a giggler Remus.”
“Only around you pads, and I’m not a giggler I’m just really fucking high right now.” Remus said, flushing a light pink colour. Remus looked back up at Sirius taking in all of his features, his dark, raven coloured hair framed his pale face in such a pretty way perfectly contrasting with his grey eyes.
Sirius broke his train of Remus’ train of thought, “Moony, do you remember back in forth year when we all got drunk at halloween and thought it would be a good idea to try and break into the kitchens at three in the morning.”
Remus sat for a minute trying to conjure up the memory through his weed filled mind. “Yeah I do, me and peter got tired and went back to the dorm but you and James decided to stay out and got caught by Mcgonagall,” Remus suddenly cut himself off laughing again, “then-” Remus spluttered between laughs, “then you and James thought your best chance of getting away with it was to ‘woo’ Mcgonagall.”
Sirius looked down at Remus amusedly, “Hey now Minnie loves me I’m sure secretly she was wooed by me.”
Remus was smiling brightly now, “Why’d you ask pads?”
“I’m not sure to be honest but I think it’s my favourite memory of all of us together, I loved that night.” Sirius reminisced a smile playing on his lips.
“Me too, it was a good night.” Remus remembered that night vividly, before he and Peter went back to the dorm he thought about how he felt that night, he remembered walking with Sirius before he and Peter went back to the dorm, he thought about the giddy-lovesick feeling he experienced everytime Sirius looked at him and hoping that Sirius felt the same way. He still sits on nights like this looking out the window, a joint in hand imagining Sirius’ lips on.
His reminiscing was cut off by Sirius’ voice, “Melin I’m really fucking high right now.”
“Hmm, me too.” Remus agreed. Remus glanced up at Sirius’ gazing, smitten, at him. He didn’t think he’d ever looked at any girls or anyone the way he looked at sirius. His mind now only had one thought going around just ‘Sirius, Sirius, Sirius’ over and over again. Remus sat up slowly and Sirius looked at him questioningly. “Remus, I need to tell you something I-” Remus cut him off by leaning in and kissing him. His mind caught up with his body's movements and he pulled away quickly embarrassed.
“Shit, I’m sorry I shouldn't have, I- '' This time it was Sirius who cut him off kissing him once again. Kissing Sirius like this felt euphoric, it felt like every star in the night sky had aligned perfectly, he could feel every movement of Sirius’, every wipe of his tongue made him shudder. Sirius brought his hand up to Remus’ jaw stroking his fingers along the side of his face making Remus sigh out in pleasure. When they finally pulled away from each other, they sat, their faces close to one another taking in the moment. “God your beautiful.” Sirius breathed out.
“Hmm, we should sleep pads.” Rmus said, taking Sirius’ hand and leading him towards Remus’ bed. Slowly Remus slipped under the covers and shut his eyes happily, he felt Sirius’ weight also settle beside him and smiled sleepily. Sirius buried his head in Remus’ chest, joint still burning on the windowsill long forgotten, and pulled the covers up over their shoulders. Remus leant down and kissed Sirius’ forehead lingering for a second before lying back down and burying his face in Sirius’ hair.
“G’night pads.”
“Night moons.”
