Chapter 4- Crush
1st POV- Lily
4:45 PM
Lily walked along the school grounds, it was a nice day out, and she'd feel genuinely happy, if it weren't for her sister's letter she had gotten.
She looked around and saw someone flying on the quidditch pitch, already knowing who it was, she started walking over.
Once there, Lily found a comfortable place in the stands and started watching James fly around the pitch.
God he was amazing. Lily wished that she could fly like James did, she could imagine how free she'd feel.
If she was being honest, younger Lily would be so disappointed in present lily. Come on? Watching James Potter flying in her free time, she had really hit rock bottom.
But still, her heart did little summersaults every time he did a trick. She had started feeling this way a couple month has ago, but still no one knew about it, not even her best friends.
But she couldn't take it anymore, she had to tell someone.
She stood up and left, before James saw her watching him, and started making her way to the common room.
Everyone was still around the couch, just talking. Everyone but Sirius. They all knew something had happen between the Marauders, but no one was brave enough to ask what.
She walked over to Mary, "Hey, can we talk?"
Mary nodded without a word and followed her up to their dorm.
2nd POV- Mary
5:15 PM
Mary sat on her bed as Lily closed the door.
"Sooo? What did you want to talk about?"
She saw the look of worry on Lily's face, "Lils? What's wrong?"
Lily walked over to Mary and sat next to her.
"Do you remember when I said I would never ever have a crush on James Potter?"
Mary nodded, feeling anxious to where this conversation was going.
"Well I think that I do," she paused, "Have a crush on James Potter."
Mary was silent.
Lily looked at her, "Mary?"
No, Mary thought, She's supposed to be mine..
"Mary?"
Mary looked at Lily, "Sorry what?"
"Well what do you think?"
"I think... you have a crush on James Potter."
And I have a crush on you, she thought.
"And, is that okay? I mean, I-I don't know."
"Lils," She took Lily's hands in hers, "Of course it's ok. You're a girl, and he's a boy,"
You're a girl, and I'm a girl, she thought sadly.
"It's not like you get to choose who you love."
Its not like I get to choose who I love.
"Ok. Thank you." She pulled Mary into a hug, "I love you so much."
"Me too."
She wasn't able to say 'I love you' back, because it wouldn't be the same way. Because Lily was normal, she liked boys, Mary was not normal, because she didn't. And she hated herself for it.
