Silene I

Silene is not a morning person, her normal daily routine consists of waking up shoving her alarm under her pillow for another hour, before stumbling to the kitchen to brew some coffee before she has her morning tea and breakfast.

She expects this morning to go no different. So, when she turns around her first cup of coffee in hand and one hand rubbing the sleep tears from her eyes, she screams as the owl swoops at her for attention. She glares at the owl as it settles on her dining table her heart beating a tattoo in her throat and her second favorite cup lying on the floor in pieces.

She gives the owl a stern ‘stay there’ look as she waves away the coffee spill and bends down to clean up her broken cup to throw away taking deep breaths as she does so to calm her racing heart. The owl hoots at her annoyed as she makes her way back over to her cupboard for another cup for coffee.

“No.” She says back, stirring the sweetened cream into the hot coffee. “If you didn’t startle me the way you, did you would be free to go.”

The hoots at her again its tone sounding sullen, and Silene sighs into her cup the porcelain warming in her hands as she sips the liquid. “Pout all you want,” she mutters leaning against the counter. “I have no doubt that I am nowhere functional to deal with whatever it is you’re delivering to me.”

The owl blinks its amber eyes at her as she gives it a few look overs, there were few people left in the Wizarding world that knew how to contact her and Lily’s owl was a gorgeous red Barn owl. The owl sitting in front of her looks to be a Northern White-faced owl, she scowls and drinks more of her coffee.

There were very few people, or beings, that she knew with a Northern White. She sighs further and downs her first cup of coffee the warmth sitting heavily in her belly as she gets another cup of coffee to drink as she deals with whatever it is that Ragnok sent her. She snickers as she stirs her new cup of coffee little wonder the owl is so pouty.

The owl follows her as she takes a seat at the table and holds out its burden, trilling at her as it does so. She sets her new cup of coffee down furthest away from the owl's range and starts to untie the thick rolled parchment. Once free of the letter the owl hops back out of her range and begins to groom its wings, Silene feels her eyebrow rise as she watches.

Her eyes find the yellowed parchment once more- what information does this contain that Ragnok expects a reply?

She wipes her hands on her sleep pants and sips more of her coffee, spinning the parchment to find the seal that keeps it closed, pressing her nails into the middle of the Bank’s Crest to break it. Magic spills forth blooming like a flower around her in a complicated mix of both goblin magic and wizard magic. She takes a moment to examine the magic, her eyes narrow as she finds it to be all defensive and plenty of notice-me-nots Silene looks back down at the letter with more trepidation.

She unrolls the parchment and places her cup of coffee on the top to keep the letter from rolling back up on her as she reads her hands smoothing the bottom of the letter down and in place. The first sentence feels as though it makes Silene’s heart stop, the one that comes after nearly ruins her world.

Nov. 1st, 1994.

Silene- My dearest friend, I regret to be the one to come to you with this information, however I think it best you hear from a friend rather than the vultures of the Prophet. Lily Potter and her husband James Potter are dead.

Their deaths had been reported to the DMLE this morning all talks claim that Voldemort attacked them and was succinctly defeated when he tried to kill little Hadrian. There has only been one report of where Hadrian is... by Dumbledore.

The Headmaster claims that Hadrian is safe, that he put the boy with his remaining family per the Potter’s wishes, this much I doubt as he has illegally sealed both of the Potter’s Will’s. As such I believe the old man put him into the care of your younger half-sister Petunia.

At the current moment this is all the information I have. If you have anything you want done or any plans you need help with, please send a reply back with Silverwing.

Your friend Ragnok.

Silene stares at the letter numbly, she let’s go of the letter and watches it roll back up until it’s stopped by her cup of coffee. She rolls the parchment back down and rereads the letter once, twice, thrice more. Unable to fully believe the words written before her, she blinks at the date.

Samhain. Her sister died on Samhain, sometime after they got off the phone with each other. The parchment slips out from under her nerveless fingers and rolls back up, making a rasping noise that sounds too loud for her empty apartment.

Silverwing hoots at her in question and she startles at the noise, her wide eyes meet the amber of Silverwing and somewhere deep down she can feel the twin bond that lies severed in her core.
