He drew his cloak closer to him, shivering slightly, as he narrowed his eyes.Someone had arrived.According to Elliot, nobody was to go out today.Their territory had been breached. And from the stink of magic around him, he was powerful.

Chapter 1

A man with a furred gold cloak stared coldly as the old man placed down the child, reassuring his colleagues he would be alright. He snorted under his breath. "Of course. A magical boy will be alright with a Christian family. Of course. No, Dumbledore, have you lost your bloody mind?" Luckily, even though his voice had risen a bit at the end, they had not heard him. Which was good, because just then, the old man had looked around, passing twice over his spot. Taking no chances even though it might have been a coincidence, he froze, willing his cloak to blend him into the walls of the house he was leaning against. Dumbledore didn't appear to notice him. Or if he did, he had the decency to not raise the alarm.

As soon as they left (and he was sure the Dumbledore wasn't going to apprehend him), the man strode quickly to the sidewalk on the other side. Crouching, he gently picked up the baby, moving his hair aside to hide his scar. He also moved the blanket aside, scanning the child's magic. 350. Quite high. "Hmm..." he stood up, looking around. Nobody was there to see him. "Yes, I believe you will be a wonderful addition to the family," he smiled, cradling the young Boy-Who-Lived. "Welcome to the Briar Thieves Guild, Harry Potter. Or, should I say, Theseus Kernal?"
