Second year- Bunny Slippers
Sirius Black
It’s nearly been a month since Sirius has found out about Remus, he still hasn't eased up. He says they're still friends but no matter what Sirius does he can feel the coldness.
Another full moon is coming up tomorrow, and Sirius can feel his stomach eating itself up.
“Ugh I’m so sick of this” Complains Peter.Dropping his face into the book in front of him.
“Come on Pete this’ll be over in uh-“ James checks his watch. “Ten minutes.”
“We can’t stop in ten!” Starts Sirius .
The three boys are in the library studying everything they can on werewolves.
“Look mate I get you want to do this for him, but we have constantly been here since last month.” Sirius sighs, lowering his shoulders in surrow.
“I haven’t read this much in my life” Peter exclaims in his book on moon phases.
“I don’t even think my glasses are working anymore” James adjusts his glasses.
“Fine! You don’t care, I don’t care” Sirius stands up, frustration fogging up his vision.
“We care Sirius, and you care so much, we just think we all need a break”
‘I can't take a break, it happens tonight”
“Sirius-“ James starts.
“Okay’ Sirius sighs in defeat
James slings an arm around his friend. "Look mate, we're all worried, but we just need to be there for him, okay?”
“Okay” Sirius repeats.
“Oh we could get him some chocolate for when we see him tomorrow” Peter suggest s
“That’s a great idea Pete!” James smiles.
The boys head down to dinner, to see Remus stuffing his face with food. The three boys sit down next to him.
“How charming,” Peter laughs.
“I know” Remus responds sarcastically , mouth full.
Sirius scrunches up his nose at Remus’s manners.
Remus finishes his dinner, and James and Peter have started to eat already.
Sirius can’t even start his food, knowing what’s happening tonight, and the control he doesn’t have over it.
Remus leaves, and Sirius wants to chase after him.
“Go,” James says.
Sirius doesn't hesitate, “ill be back” He says in a rush.
Getting back to the dorm , sirius is out of breath. Remus is standing by his bed grabbing clothes.
“Remus” Sirius breaths out, putting his hands on his knees., trying to get a breath of air.
“What sirius?’ Remus
“Are you leaving?” He asks.
“Yeah” Remus sighs.
“Are you going to be okay?” Sirius questions hesitantly .
“Nothing I can’t handle,” Remus replies dryly.
Sirius doesn't know what to say, when it comes to Remus he never knows what to say.
“See you in the morning”
Sirius is too clouded in his own thoughts he doesn't even realize his friend is leaving the room.
He sits on the edge of his bed, bringing his hands to his face.
Remus is the one hurting , not him.
“Why do you have to be so selfish?” His mothers voice rings in his head.
Selfish.

Later that night
James Sirius and Peter are all under James invisibility cloak.
Which is something they haven’t done in a while. There in honey dukes, picking out sweets Remus would like. Sirius grabs all the chocolate he can possibly carry, and same with James and Peter.
“This was a great idea, amazing thinking Pete” Sirius whispers to peter, as they’re on their way out of honeydukes.
“Thanks sirius” Peter whispers back.

It’s about four in the morning , and Sirius couldn’t get a wink of sleep. This ought to be the first time he’s been up before James.
“James pst James” Sirius tries to wake up James,
“What is it,” James jumps up “is something wrong” he rubs the tiredness out of his eyes.
“We should go check on Remus,” Sirius answers.
“Right” James replies “Oh petey!” He shouts from across the room to his unconscious friend.
James gets out of bed.
“Peter” he opens Peter's bed curtains. "What” Peter groans.
“Get up” James he opens Peters bed curtains.
“It’s not even light out” Peter groans
“Remus, we need to check on him” James nudges him.
“Merlin your right” Peter gets up from his bed sliding on his slippers.
Sirius looks down to Peter's slippers, they have bunnies on them.
“What the hell are those Pete” sirius laughs.
James looks down to Peters stylish shoes and bursts out laughing.
“Stop it you guys they’re from my grandma, “ peter protests
“Clearly” sirius holds his stomach from laughter.
Peter smacks the side of Sirius’s arm.
Sirius and James continue laughing
Peter groans.
Peter slings the bag of sweets they got for Remus on his back. “Well come on now” peter hurries the two of them
James and Sirius look at each other, laughter being held back from the both of them. The three boys drape the cloak around them and they head to the infirmary.
“Hey Pete” Sirius starts
“What?”
“Thinks your gran could get me a pair”
“I‘m going to hit you” Peter glared.
“Me too, i want a pair” James adds.
“I miss Remus” Peter groans
“Oh maybe we could get him a pair too” sirius adds.
“Shhh” peter shushes them.
“Do you hear that?”
“No?” Sirius questions.
A howl comes from out side the school. The boys all look at each other, al the smiles wiped clean off their faces.
“Is that-“ Peter starts.
Sirius doesnt answer.
“I don’t know” James says.
The three boys get to the infirmary and sit in chairs waiting for Remus.
Sirius can see the sun rising through the window.
“What in the world are you Boys doing in here.” Madam Pomfrey asks, eyed wide.
“Remus , he said he wasn’t feeling well so we’re waiting for him” Sirius answers quickly.
Sirius can thank his mother for his quick lies.
“Right, well he’s not here at the moment, hell be here in an hour or so” she answers back.
“You kids should go back to your dorm and come back when he’s ready-“
“No!” Sirius starts. “Sorry” Sirius straightens his posture “We just want to be here”
“Alright then, I’m off to fetch him you just stay here”
“Got it” James says.
Madam pomfrey smiles softly. It feels like a warm smile, not a cold one, and Sirius’s heart feels warm from the gesture.
Promfrey leaves and the boys sit in silence.
Waiting . Listening. And worrying.
Sirius can feel himself drifting off to sleep.
And all that clouds his mind is Remus.
“What the hell are you guys doing here”
The three boys jumps up form their seat.
“Remus!” They all say in unison.
Remus sighs.
Remus sits down on a bed, and all three boys are looking at him.
He furrows his brows, “What?”
“We got you something” Peter says, dumping out the bag of sweets on remus’s lap.
Remus looks down to the candy for a while, not saying a word.
“Thanks” he says softly.
Peter smiles back.
Remus opens a chocolate bar and sinks his teeth into it.
“Why are you guys here” he says chomping on chocolate .
Remus' manners always seem to leave an upsetting feeling in Sirius’s stomach. So he looks down to his shoes not answering.
“We just wanted to check up on you” James says.
Remus doesnt say anything but looks at sirius.
“We woke up at nearly four in the morning, only James is that crazy to wake us up at that time, “ Peter rambles.
James laughs .
“but it was sirius that woke us up” Peter adds.
“Really?” Remus questions.
Sirius doesnt look up but he nods his head.
“It was my idea to get the sweets though”
“It was odd going into honeydukes without you Remus” James says
Sirius looks up and the rest of the boys are eating sweets and chatting.
“Halloweens next week” Peter says.
“You should go as a bunny Pete” James laugh.
“Enough with the bunny jokes.” Peter complains.
“What bunny jokes?” Remus questions.
James points down to peters slippers.
“Oh my god, where did you get those” Remus laughs.
“Stop it, the lot of you!” Peter whines.
James and Remus laugh.
“And Sirius’s birthdays soon” James adds.
“I havent seen your vinyl you got last year, where’d it go?” Peter questions.
“Oh uh”
Sirius had forgotten about the vinyl he had gotten for his birthday last year, and the event that happened during holiday. It’s like his mind pushed it away.
“I forgot it at home ” Sirius shrugs. James looks to Sirius as if he can tell he’s fibbing.
Sirius never told James his mother had Broken his vinyl.
“It’s alright” Sirius smiles.
“Besides, I’ve got a ton upstairs “
“Yeah” James says softly.
“Can i have a sweet?” Sirius asks.
Remus smiles, “yeah, you can” he passes Sirius a chocolate frog.
“Thanks” Sirius smiles.
“Hey Pete?” .Remus starts
“Yeah?’’ Peter
“Think you could get me a pair,” Remus teases peters slippers.
Sirius and James burst out laughing.
“Fine! We can all be bunnies, maybe everyone will tease you”
“I think id look pretty cool if i had a pair.” Sirius jokes
The rest of the boys laugh.
They all sit in the infirmary laughing , eating all there sweets.
