What leads up on the Potters end
Lily Potter (nee Evan) was a witch. Not just a witch but a muggleborn witch. The first in her family line in centuries. It was a grand event for her parents to be bestowed such a gifted daughter. Her sister, Petunia, grew resentful of her and began to despise magic. With the loss of her sister she found solstice in a friend named, Severus Snape. Severus was all she could wish for in a friend, someone who could keep up with her and did not find her odd.
It was all looking up and with a blink of an eye it was time for Hogwarts. The grand castle that was home to many witches and wizarding fellows. Lily was a bundle of nerves of the new place and if she and Severus would be together. Luck was not in their hands as she was placed in Gryffindor while Severus was placed in Slytherin. This would lead to the downfall of their precious friendship. Or the hope of more from Severus' end.
The Marauders, James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, became both liked and despised within the school. While they pranked nearly everyone, draining Gryffindor's house points, they never truly acted with malicious intent. Except for one person, Severus Snape. James Potter was infatuated by Lily by first glance, she was the one for him. Day after day he would spout his love for her. Lily ignored every and all advances by him. Severus on the other hand hated the “proclaimed love” for his Lily. He reacted in violence and the Marauders followed in suit. This would continue for years till one day Severus would end the friendship for good with his words alone and pursue the life of a Death Eater. He would call Lily, his first friend, a mudblood. A slur against who she is as a person and something she was proud to be. In that moment Severus would lose Lily Evans forever.
Lily was distraught like anyone would be. Her oldest friend had called her such a name meaning dirty blood. Ironic as they bleed the same color. In that moment James held off on pursuing her but instead became a friend that she clearly needed. As time went on Lily fell in love. She fell in love with the man she would once refer to as a toe-rag but love is strange after all.
Graduation was upon them and soon they would be released into the world. Yet, things were not peaceful as Voldemort was rising to power and no one was going to be safe. Those who showed promise (and loyalty to Dumbledore.) were given the opportunity to join the Order of the Phoenix in efforts to end Voldemort’s forces. The Marauders and Lily followed quickly in line to join these war efforts. James and Sirius joined the Aurors, becoming a duo known for their abilities to take down offenders. Lily and James married due to fear of the other passing in the war. Despite their efforts Lily fell pregnant. It was wonderful news till word got to them about a prophecy that had stated,
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies...."
Lily’s child and the Longbottom’s child were the only known children who could fit this prophecy. In such the parents fled to safe houses wishing to all that they and their child would survive. Harry James Potter was born on July 31, 1980 as a healthy child with a head covered in wild black hair. His eyes would later gain the color of bright green within his few months of life. Sirius was named the godfather if anything were to happen to the Potters.
Disaster struck on October 31, 1981, Voldemort was given the location and the ability to enter the Potter’s home. Peter Pettigrew had betrayed them. Entering the house he killed James and crept to the remaining two. Lily had begged for her son's life but it was in vain. Voldemort killed her swiftly and moved onto the child. The child that would lead to his end and in such he raised his wand once more and cast the Killing Curse. Yet, the child didn’t die. But instead the curse reflected back to the sender and Voldemort was vanquished. All that remained was two bodies, a wand, and a crying child with a bleeding lightning bolt scar on his forehead.
Sirius would come find the bodies and the lone child. Distraught, he would give the child up to Hagrid and pursue the traitor. This would lead to him being sentenced to Azkaban and his godchild gone. Hagrid on the other hand would bring Harry to Dumbledore on Sirius’s flying motorcycle. Dumbledore would leave the child in a basket with a note on the turning of October to November. Then he left, taking Hagrid and McGonagall with him. Harry was to grow up with no contact with the Wizarding World. But, that's not how things played out.
Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people you’d expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn’t hold such nonsense.
Mr. Dursley was the director of a firm called Grunnings, which made drills. He was a big, beefy man with hardly any neck, although he did have a very large mustache. Mrs. Dursley was thin and blonde and had nearly twice the usual amount of neck, which came in very useful as she spent so much of her time craning over garden fences, spying on the neighbors. The Dursleys had a small son called Dudley and in their opinion there was no finer boy anywhere.
The Dursleys were quite normal with nothing out of the sort. Mrs. Dursley had a sister though she never talked to her nor wanted any involvement with her sort of people. The Dursleys would never know the fate of Lily Potter and that was perfectly fine for them.
But, what had become of the child left on the doorstep like milk? Well he was taken in by a wandering Spark. The Sparks name, Mieczysław "Stiles" Stilinski. This is the start of true family and what Pack is supposed to be.
