“That isn’t yours,” Pandora remarks, not even looking up from her novel. Regulus snatches his hand back from the unopened chocolate bar sitting alone on the coffee table in the Slytherin common room.
“Sorry, Dora didn’t see you there,” he smiles cheekily, plopping on a comfy chair across from her.
“Liar,” she smirks, still not looking up at him. After a moment of comfortable silence, she sighs and snaps her book shut, “what is it Regulus.”
“What?” Regulus asks, straight faced. “What makes you think I want something?” Pandora doesn’t dignify him with a response, but stares at him unnervingly until Regulus breaks. “Fine,” he sits up straight. “I wanted to ask you a favour.”
“What kind of favour?”
“The double date kind,” her eyes widen with fury, and he knows she is a meer blink away from cursing him off, but Regulus keeps talking. “Just hear me out, please?” He does his best impression of James asking for something he wants, and it seems to work for the moment.
“Fine, who is it with then?”
“Lily Evans.”
Pandora’s jaw drops in shock, “I-I’m sorry, Lily Evans?”
“Yes,” Regulus nods, unable to stop a small smirk from crawling onto his face.
“And your date is–”
“James, of course.” Pandora doesn’t speak for a long moment, apparently still processing.
“You want me, to go on a date with the most beautiful girl in school.”
“Yes,” Regulus confirms, nodding his head in a somewhat exaggerated manner.
This time, when Regulus reaches for the chocolate bar, she doesn’t stop him. Even when he opens it loudly, breaks off a quite large piece, and pops it into his mouth in one swift motion. “What do you say?” He asks after swallowing the chocolate. (Only barbarians talk with their mouths full)
“I-oh gods,” Pandora covers her face with her hands, only peeking out between her fingers. “Did Lily say yes?” She asks, voice muffled by her hands.
“Possibly,” Regulus smiles, unable to keep a straight face at such an endearing sight. “Pandora Rosier, are you nervous to go on a date with a pretty girl?” He teases her, which only causes a pillow to get thrown in his direction.
“Don’t make fun of me, when James asked you out on your first date you were a wreck the whole day before!” Regulus scoffs, but he doesn’t really have an argument to stand on, so he decides it’s time they move on.
“We’re going to the three broomsticks tomorrow at eight, are you in or not?”
“Yes, but–”
“Fantastic.” Regulus claps, moving to stand while hiding the rest of the chocolate bar behind his back.
“Wait!” She yells so sharply he has no opinion but to stop in his tracks. “First of all, thats mine, secondly,” her expression softens a bit, and Regulus realises as she picks at her nail polish that Pandora is genuinely nervous. He sits back down. “She really said yes?”
“Yes, Dora,” he tosses the chocolate bar back. She catches it between her hands, and smiles brightly. “She really said yes. Quite profusely according to James.”
“Well, then,” Pandora tilts her chin up in a show of mock confidence. “You’re doing my eyeliner.” Regulus rolls his eyes, but smiles nonetheless.
“Sure thing, Panda.” This time he does get up to leave, albeit without a chocolate bar, but glad Pandora is excited. Wait till she realises he and James are planning on ditching. She could finally get an evening with Lily all to herself.
