It wasn’t unusual for James to break into song in the main hall. He often did it for Lily although she never really appreciated it. But this time James was singing for someone else, someone who he knew loved his singing. James had told no one who this was though as it was not greatly supported, it was a boy he was singing for.Although it was a boy who even if this was normal he would still not be allowed to date. His best mates brother. James hadn’t told a soul he was snogging Regulus. James was still going to sing the song he wrote. Everyone would think it be for Lily as had dozen songs before. He had written this one quickly and it wasn’t perfect but nonetheless Regulus would love it. So he got his guitar (it wasn’t actually his it was Sirius’s but he still used it) stood up and started to play. Everyone stopped eating and talking turning their heads toward him with excitement. Lily rolled her eyes as she had done with every song he had sung for her although this time it did not hurt because it wasn’t for her. He began to sing the lyrics

People began to cheer, Remus looked up at him with a look of knowing on his face James wondered it Remus knew. He kept singing
“but swimming in your waters is something spiritual, I’m born again every time you spend the night”.
People now looked confused as he wasn’t staring at Lily and they doubted Lily had ever spent the night at his dorm so who was he singing about. James had forgotten other people where there and so had Regulus they were looking at each other with such love people would soon have to notice.
The next part he knew would embarrass Regulus but it was true so he kept singing
“cause your sex takes me to paradise yeah your sex takes me to paradise and it shows yeah yeah yeah”.
Now everyone was staring towards where James was looking trying to figure out who it was he was singing about. James glanced at Lily and she looked taken aback, had she liked James. Some people whooped and cheered, he had just sung about sex so he wasn’t really surprised. But Regulus was, he blushed a bright shade of red looking at James. James began to sing the chorus
“cause you make me feel like I’ve been locked out of heaven for too long, for too long, for too long”, he looked at Regulus now not breaking eye contact. He kept singing ignoring everyone around him.
Soon someone called out that he was looking at the Slytherin table and everyone gasped up at him with confused faces, he glanced around then went straight back to Regulus. It looked as though Regulus hadn’t even noticed he was in a love induced trance and hadn’t taken his eyes off James, not that he minded at all. He sand the next verse
“you bring me to my knees you make me testify, open up your gates cause I can’t wait to see the light and this is where I want to stay”,
Some people by now,he was sure if it, knew he was looking at Regulus. Someone called out he’s looking at a bloke on the Slytherin table this caused a audible gasp from everyone, then the mumbled stalking started. The same person began to describe Regulus so everyone could locate him. "He has a sharp jawline and bro… holy shit it’s blacks brother.”
The crowd erupted some saying slurs some congratulating him others whooping though there was voice louder then any other “ your fucking my brother are you kidding me”.
James decided to skip the next part of the song and go to his favourite part, the bridge he thought it really showed his true intent of the song. So he started singing again although calmer
“ oh oh oh oh yea yea yea can I just stay here spend the rest of my days here oh oh oh oh yea yea yea can I just stay here spend the rest of my days here, cause you make me feel like” now he had jumped of his chair and started to walk towards Regulus who had gotten up stumbling towards James. " Ive been locked out of heaven"
James was still singing and still aware of a presence behind him stalking, radiating anger, it was Sirius no doubt I mean if James had a brother and found of Sirius was seeing him he would be angry as well. At some point he has stopped singing and began to run, embracing Regulus in hug then kissing him. They had forgotten there was anyone else there, in their eyes it was just the two of them as there had been so many nights before.
After what seemed like minutes someone tapped him on the shoulder, he turned around to see Sirius the angriest he had ever seen. Sirius began to yell it it went in one ear and out the other. James was still fixated on Regulus how could he not though Regulus was beautiful. Eventually Sirius stopped yelling and James only knew one thing to say
“I love him and you yelling isn’t going to stop what I feel, but you are my best friend and I can’t lose you”
James then faltered and stepped away from both of them, he had said he loved Regulus. He ran out the great hall, he thought about going to his dorm but that is where everyone would look instead he went to the room of requirement.
James arrived at the room and it formed itself into a cubby house decked out with cushions and blankets. It was just like how it was with Regulus, he and Regulus had been dating for 3 months and they had spoken about it lots before and finally agreed. Then walked into the room of requirement and it made the fort, their first time was awkward and scary but it was full of love and longing. James chucked and climbed inside of the fort. He had said he loved Regulus, in front of the whole school and in front of Regulus, this wouldn’t have mattered if he and Regulus had said I love you but they had not. He was falling asleep when he heard the door open and a voice call his name out softly, he respond calling Regulus to join him. Regulus climbed inside smiling then his face softened when he saw James. Regulus crawled towards him. Regulus sat next to him and let his head fall onto James’s leg, looking up at him sweetly. Regulus said
“ I love you too Potter”, James could feel himself tear up as he hugged Regulus onto his lap. James would not stop saying I love you every minute. Every time he said it Regulus blushed deeply. They sat talking for who knows how long, soon they knew they had to leave. They got up together and walked out together hand in hand.
