‘Star’ crossed lovers
Yesterday at the annual ministry of magic christmas party it was reported that a certain Lily Luna Potter (20) and Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy (22) were ‘all over one another’. Witnesses describe their rendezvous as ‘close’ and ‘intimate’, ‘they couldn’t take their eyes off of one another’ an anonymous source reports. The lovely Lily, pictured sporting a rather comical pair of reindeer antlers, is of course the only daughter and youngest child of Harry Potter, the saviour of the wizarding world. It was thirty years ago this year that Potter famously took down the dark wizard Lord Voldemort (more commonly known these days as Tom Riddle) and banished blood supremacy values from our society during the battle of Hogwarts.
Scorpius’ father was also present at this battle, alongside his parents, Scorpius’ paternal grandparents Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy. They however were on the side of the death eaters, Tom Riddle’s purist fanatic followers. The Malfoys remained on Voldemort's side until his demise although only Lucius Malfoy served an actual prison sentence for his crimes due to the testimony of Harry Potter himself. Mr Potter claimed that Mrs Malfoy was instrumental in his takedown of the dark wizard known as you know who as she bravely lied to Voldemort's face, proclaiming Harry was dead and buying him more time. Still, Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy spend their days out of the public eye, their image still irreparably tainted by their former association and the role they played in the great war. Draco Malfoy on the other hand has maintained a somewhat public image as a philanthropist, alongside his wife Astoria Greengrass-Malfoy who fought on the right side of the battle of Hogwarts. Mr Draco Malfoy’s latest endeavour is pitching a large, but as of now undisclosed, sum of money towards Minister Granger's House Elf union act. Supporting a law that sets out to increase the rights of house elves is a far cry from the old superior views of the Malfoy family however many are left to wonder if Mr Malfoy’s donations are designed only to boost his family image and are a crass attempt to repair the damage their former associations have made.
Draco has been defended on the matter of his status as a former death eater by none other than Mr Harry Potter himself in a press release where he claimed that Mr Malfoy was made to join “under duress” at the impressionable age of just sixteen years old. Despite this, the pair have made an effort to avoid each other at public gatherings and according to sources close to them there is still bad blood there. The ‘feud’ between Potter and Malfoy during their school years is also no secret to the public. “Oh they hated each other” Hannah Winters, a pupil who was in the year below the pair at Hogwarts reveals “it was really bad at one point. I remember Malfoy making these badges with Harry’s face on making fun of him once and then one time during my fifth year they had a duel in the bathroom…so much blood” she says, turning pale at the memory. We can’t help but wonder then, how either of the families will react to this passionate, romantic affair between their offspring. What will Lucius Malfoy think about the possibility of his bloodline being tainted by his only grandchild, and the last heir to the Malfoy name, running off with half blood Lily Potter? And what will the chosen one Harry Potter do when he finds out his only daughter is cavorting with the blood of his sworn enemy? Only time will tell how these star crossed lovers will fare in this house feud.
