Shame

"Welcome to another year of Hogwarts! Before we begin the feast, I would like to go over a few rules-" Remus yawned widely at Professor Dumbledor's speech. He just wanted to eat this so-called feast that was supposed to be happening soon.

The headmaster clapped his hands and the plates around them filled with food. For a second, Remus didn't see any food he liked. He wasn't picky, he couldn't afford to be picky, but he thought that maybe there would be something he liked on the table of food around him. Thats when he saw it.

There was a huge pot of Cawl, one of Remus's favorites. The meaty stew had just the right number of vegetables, he instantly went for it. Grabbing a bowl and the ladle in the Cawl. He scooped some into his bowl and began to eat. He saw Sirius starring at it.

"Is that like a Welsh stew?" he asked.

"Oes, it's called Cawl. Really da," he said before going back to eating, (oes=yes, da=good)

Remus spied some Rarebit but was too slow. Romulus grabbed for it first, getting the largest bit.

"Ffyc, you couldn't have given me the damnedig thing? I thought we were supposed to chari each other. Bond Brawdol ar ei ben!" (Brotherly bond over!)

"Oh, quit being dramatig, the plates refill," Romulus said, (dramatic).

"Only after they're empty!" Remus wanted the larger piece, and whether it was that the moon was only a day ago, or it was just sibling fights, he went for Romulus' food.

One thing about Romulus; he likes his food. A lot. And will probably try to murder you if you go near it. That was exactly what happened.

With lightning-fast reflexes, he stabbed Remus in the arm with his fork, sinking it all the way into his flesh as far as it would go.

_

Sirius watched in amusement as Remus bickered with Romulus over a Welsh dish he already forgot the name of. Then he watched Remus go for this said Welsh dish on Romulus' plate. He no longer watched in amusement as he watched the fork sink into Remus's flesh so that the spikes didn't show.

One thing about Sirius; he could not deal with blood. He could deal with his own just fine, but other people's, absolutely not.

So as he watched Romulus pull the fork out of his brother's flesh, and watched the blood drip from his arm and onto the table, he almost puked up his mashed potatoes.

To Remus's credit, he didn't cry out. He didn't even wince, he didn't tear up. He did, however, lunge for Romulus with his soup spoon.

Never cross a guy with a spoon. Spoons are very underestimated weapons.

Remus hit the back of the metal spoon across Romulus' knuckles. That had to hurt.

Romulus grabbed the spoon and threw it away from Remus, throwing his fork in the process, knocked Remus from his chair. Remus grabbed Romulus' hair and brought him to the ground with him. Remus punched Romulus as hard as he could in the face, breaking his nose in the process. Something Sirius noticed about Remus, he really liked to break noses in fights. It didn't look as if his perfect nose had ever been broken.

Romulus reeled back and jumped to his feet, blood pouring down his face. Sirius felt nauseous just looking at it, but he couldn't tear his eyes away from the scene before him.  Remus was quick to follow Romulus' lead and jumped up as well. The twins began to circle each other at the same time. The entire hall was watching now, but no one was stopping the fight. Romulus' nose was still streaming blood, and the steady fast paced drip, drip of Remus's blood hitting the floor from the stab wound on his arm told him how much blood was being spilt. Urgh, he couldn't think about it without wanting to puke.

Suddenly, Romulus lunged for Remus, going to the left of him. Remus dodged and spun with his fist out, making contact with Romulus' right side of his torso. Romulus roared and grabbed Remus's shoulders and shoved him against the wall of the Great hall.

Sirius saw some older kids betting on who would win the fight. Some kid bet that a teacher would break it up before one of them one.

Speaking of, where were the teachers? He looked around and saw the muttering counter charms under their breaths'. There must have been a force field of rage around them that didn't let anyone in or out.

As Remus was thrown against the wall, Romulus grabbed the back of his head, and slammed Remus's face against the hardest part of his knee.

_

All Romulus wanted to do was hurt his brother as much as he could. He had been getting on his nerves ever since this morning by just breathing too loud. And his temper had been at a boiling point since the moon.

So, the satisfying crunch of his brother's nose on his kneecap was welcome. He felt giddy with power as his brother crumpled to the ground, unconscious. He wasn't stronger than his brother, but Remus wouldn't hurt him like that. Remus and he had never had a fight like this. Too much energy combined with the shock of being able to go to school, along with the moon and his over sensitive ears and nose being overwhelmed by all the people and magic around him, especially when the moon was only last night, made him want to hurt things, and his brother had given him the perfect outlet.

But as he watched Remus's unconscious body fall to the ground, he didn't feel victorious. He didn't feel powerful. Instead, he felt a hot trickling of shame, and self-loathing down his back as he stared at what he had done, and Remus, the little bugger, had the best memory of anyone he knew. He had seen his brother hold grudges for a year and a half.

He wouldn't do that to you though, he thought, you're his brother. He loves you.

So? said a traitorous part of his brain. You still fought him. The only reason why you won is because he would never hurt you, and you were expected to do the same. What he said earlier, that was a joke. But this? Now it's real. He shuddered, remembering his brother's words.

'Bond Brawdol ar ei ben!' (Brotherly bond over!). It was a joke, but now? Not so much.

He fell to his knees beside his brother. He didn't reach out, just stared. He let the barrier fall, and teachers ran forward. A kind-looking witch took out her wand and seemed to scan his brother.

"Minor concussion," she muttered to herself, looking slightly relieved. She conjured up a stretcher and walked off with his brother. Romulus got up to follow, but he felt a stiff hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Professor McGonagall. She didn't look mad, but she looked disappointed in him. Somehow, that was worse.

"Come with me, Mr. Lupin," she spoke in a tone that left no room for argument. He bowed his head and followed after her like a kicked puppy.

He hoped he wouldn't be expelled before he got to say goodbye to his brother.
