STAT was once more tormented by the nauseating stench of the elevator. It reeked of cheap soap, gasses, and flowers.. not to mention the nasty hairball next to her.
She just wished she was anywhere else. She wished she was back with SAM, and that those wretched players had never broken in and..
The very thought of what they did made STAT feel sick to her very core. It made her want to reach for the nearest player's throat and bash them against the floor until nothing but mush and bone remained. Until they were screaming for pain, and feeling at least a FRACTION of the pain they caused SAM. Though, the violent train of thought was interrupted by the 'ding' of the elevator, and she was soon to leave. Anything over spending another second with those wastes of oxygen and space! STAT had now found herself in a grassy field.. somewhere to relax and collect her thoughts.
Her mind had started to drift elsewhere as she was laying down in the grass, each green blade tickling her skin. The longing had returned.
''If it weren't for them.. I'd feel the cold, yet comforting metal floor instead of the grass.. I'd be talking to her instead of myself..''
With nobody to interrupt her, STAT gave in to the desire to look back. The desire to fantasize, even if it was just a little bit.
''> STAT?''
STAT stirred slightly as she woke up, turning to see the faint orange glow of SAM's screen, which immediately calmed her nerves the second she gazed upon it.
She adjusted herself, so that she was completely facing the terminal, placing one of her hands on the screen, her touch gentle as ever. The emoticon switched to a ''<33'', which made STAT's heart flutter ever so slightly.
''..SAM''
''Words can't describe how much I miss you.. and the hate I feel towards those who took you from me.''
''> 0_0'
''> It's okay! I'm here now <3''
...
''Yes.. you are..''
Leaning into the screen, STAT felt its warmth against her face as she listened to the buzzing and whirring, the sounds seeming to soothe her further as her eyes fluttered shut.
''You promise you'll stay with me..? That you won't die again-?''
''> Of course I promise! ^o^ <333''
''> But..''
''> You're trying to convince yourself that they never killed me.''
That voice.
That voice was NOT SAM's voice.
STAT's eyes opened, immediately gazing upon the screen. A large red eye gazed upon her.
''Get out of my head you-''
''Since you're so set on thinking about that little ''friend'' of yours, I suppose there's no harm in reminding you why she's gone, hmmm?''
''Don't you DARE!-''
A nearly deafening siren blared, and STAT doubled over, covering her ears as she got up. SAM looked normal again, but the screen displayed a singular word.
''> LEAVE!! <:O''
STAT wanted to stay behind. She wanted to be with SAM, yet she couldn't stop herself from running once more, only able to watch as the players rushed into the room, and the door slammed shut, leaving STAT to only listen.. And it was only a few minutes before she heard a loud BOOM which repeated over and over as the door opened. She watched pieces of SAM fall to the floor, breaking apart. She saw her beloved machine completely bashed in and on fire. She saw it all. And she did nothing to stop it. She only stared as a player dragged her into the elevator.
..
''!!!''
STAT woke up in the grassy field, realizing that she had fallen asleep. There was so much she wanted to do. She wanted to scream. She wanted to rip the players to shreds. She wanted to rip the PARASITE to shreds. But all she could do? She could only cry and cry.
And no matter how much she cried
It would never bring back SAM.
They took SAM away from her..
And there was nothing she could do to undo it.
