“This is stupid.” Draco huffed, crossing his arms. Somehow Pansy, Blaise, and Theo convinced him to sign up for karaoke night. It was a new thing that was started after the war by Headmistress Mcgonagall to give students a chance to relax. Pansy rolled her eyes as she finished applying makeup on him. “Oh it’ll be fun! I wish you would tell us what song you are singing. Draco shook his head. “If I did that, the three of you would scream like little girls.” Blaise smirked. “Those two maybe, but I don’t scream.” Theo put the finishing touches on his outfit, and grinned. “It’s going to be about Potter. Obviously.” Draco tried not to blush. Ever since Harry and Ginny broke up, Draco’s friends have been insufferable. Pansy smiled. “We just want what’s best for you hon.” Theo nodded. “And if it helps, Neville told me that he caught Harry staring at you the other day in the great hall.” Draco was about to open his mouth to respond, when Hermione came back to the dressing room. “You’re up Malfoy.” Blaise smirked. “Alright, now go get your man.” Draco blushed, and walked over to where Hermione was waiting. “Let’s get this over with.” He grumbled, pushing a hand through his platinum blond hair. He walked down the hallway to the makeshift stage that had been set up in the Quidditch Pitch.
Harry sat in the crowd grumbling. Ron had dragged him here against his will. He just wanted to go back to the dorm and think about a certain Slytherin. Hermione walked on stage. She was in charge of everything, and tapped on the microphone to get everyone’s attention. “First up, we have Draco Malfoy singing Iris by the goo goo dolls.” Harry’s head snapped up as Draco walked on stage. Harry felt his breath hitch. Malfoy always looked good, but right now he was stunning. His hair was down past his shoulders and framed his piercing gray eyes, which were lined with eyeliner. Harry’s eyes wandered to his outfit. He was wearing a black sheer crop top, and ripped skinny jeans. The music started, and Harry couldn’t take his eyes off of him. Draco took a deep breath, then started singing.
“And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now”
His voice was clear and strong and Harry leaned forward in his seat.
“And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
And sooner or later, it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight”
Draco locked eyes with Harry as the chorus started.
“And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am”
For the rest of the song, Draco never took his eyes off of Harry. As soon as the song ended, the pitch erupted in applause. Harry clapped the hardest. Draco ran off of the stage, blushing furiously. Harry turned to Ron, who had a shit eating grin on his face. “You knew he was going to sing.” Ron nodded. “Hermione told me when she saw his name on the list. After this is over, you’re going to talk to him.” Harry blushed.
Draco stayed in the dressing room for the rest of the show. He was such an idiot. Harry definitely knew now. He sighed. The door burst open, and Draco flinched. Pansy ran in and threw her arms around him. “Draco, that was incredible!” Theo grinned. “Potter never took his eyes off of you!” Blaise smirked. I just ran into Weasley. He’s dragging Potter back here.” Draco jumped up, face flashing. “Now? I- I don’t know…” Blaise grinned as Ron and Hermione dragged Harry in. “Too late.” Pansy grinned, and looped her arm around Hermione. “Let’s give them some space, yeah?” Hermione nodded, and her and Pansy left. Theo grinned. “I’m going to find Neville now.” He ran out to find his boyfriend. Blaise smirked and grabbed Ron’s hand, who yelped. “Come on Weasley.” He dragged the blushing redhead out of the room.
Draco and Harry stared at each other, silence filling the room. Finally Harry spoke. “Mal- Draco. You were amazing.” Draco looked at him in shock. “Did…you just call me Draco?” Harry nodded, and stepped forward, his green eyes sparkling. “I did. It’s a beautiful name, for a beautiful man.” Draco felt his breath hitch. He cupped Harry’s cheek with a shaking hand. “Harry I-” Harry leaned forward, and captured Draco’s lips with his own. Draco kissed back, wrapping his arms around Harry. The kiss was slow and soft, years of unsaid words flowing between them. When they finally broke apart, Harry rested their foreheads together. “I love you Draco. I didn’t think you felt the same way, so I dated Ginny, but I couldn’t handle holding her hand when I wanted to hold yours.” Draco grabbed Harry’s hand, entwining their fingers. “I love you too Harry. I always have.” They stayed like that for a while, just enjoying each other's presence.
When they finally started walking back to the castle, Harry turned to him. “Do you want to be my boyfriend?” Draco smiled and kissed Harry passionately. “I thought you would never ask.”
