Chapter 14
I wake up on the couch in the common room. I have a headache, but I'm not surprised. Most of the dares I got had to do with Fire-whiskey. I hate drinking. I get up and walk to my room, to get in my actual bed. It looks about 4 o'clock so I have time to sleep.
While walking to my room I accidentally bump into someone.
"Ow." I whisper, trying not to wake anyone up.
"Who's there?" A familiar male voice calls from the dark. Draco.
"It's me, asshole."
"Yeah. Like that gives me a lot." Draco says sarcastically. "What are you doing awake?"
"I fell asleep on the couch and now I'm awake, so I decided to go to my room. Why are you?"
"Couldn't sleep. Want to head to my dorm. To see if we can help each other fall asleep."
Even though he can't see me, I nod my head. "I'd love to." In the dark, I feel him grab my hand, then he starts leading me to his dorm. We get to his dorm and he turns on the light. My eyes start hurting from the sudden brightness. I look over at Draco. His hair is a mess, it looks like he has bags under his eyes, and the only thing that I can see he is wearing are green sweatpants.
"Fun night?" I ask.
"Shut up." He mumbles in return.
"Rude." I whisper under my breath. He lets go of my hand and walks over to his closet, grabbing something I can't see. He turns around and throws a few clothes at me. A pair of sweatpants and his quidditch hoodie.
"I don't think the sweatpants will fit very well but they are comfortable."
"Thanks." I say quietly. I walk over to his bathroom and get changed quickly. His sweatshirt stopped just above my knees, but it is very, very soft. This is a sweatshirt I want to steal from him. He was right. His sweatpants are a bit too big but like he said they are comfortable. I walk out with my dirty clothes in hand. By now he is laying on his bed looking at the ceiling. I stand here, admiring him for a second. How can he like me? There's no way.
"Where do you want me to put my dirty clothes?" I ask, trying not to startle him.
"Just put them on the sink. You can get it in the morning."
"Ok." I turn around and neatly put it on the sink, like he said. I go back into the room and lay down next to him, laying my head on his shoulder.
"Why are you with me?" Draco says quietly.
"Because I like you."
"Why though? I told you to kill yourself. Twice. Granger has probably told you that I wished she would've died last year. Fred would've been a better choice for you."
"But you've changed." I argue.
He shakes his head. "No I haven't."
"If you didn't, you would still be calling Hermione a mud-blood instead of Granger in front of me. And we wouldn't be having this conversation if you didn't." He moves to where he is completely facing me.
"Can I try something?" Draco asks, acting very shy.
"What do you want to try?"
"You'll see." He gently grabs the hem of the sweatshirt I'm wearing, lifting it a little. I freeze without meaning to, suddenly uncomfortable.
"What are you doing?" I say while grabbing his hand.
"Trust me it's not what you think." I let go of his hand and nod. I watch him as he sticks his head under the sweatshirt and through the opening, making our faces inches apart from each other. His arms wrap around my bare torso, making me shiver at his cold touch.
"Where did you learn this? By the way, it's on you if we stretch out your hoodie."
"Just thought of it." He shrugs, nudging my stomach, slightly.
"Ok." I lay my head on his shoulder and close my eyes. I start playing with his hair, trying to help him fall asleep as well. After a couple minutes, sleep overtakes me and off to dreams I go.
I wake up to Draco playing with my hair and I am the only one wearing the sweatshirt. My head is on Draco's chest. He's still shirtless, not surprisingly. I sleepily start to trace circles on his bare stomach. I noticed him shiver. It's cute.
"Are you cold?" I ask.
"No but your hand is."
"Don't we have class?" I ask while smiling.
"Not for another hour." Draco whispers.
"Ok. How long have you been awake?"
He shrugs. "About an hour or so."
"You could've woken me up."
"You looked too peaceful. Anyway, I am going to go take a shower, want to join me?"
"Yes but let me go get some clean clothes." I sit up and stretch for a second, then turn to look at Draco for a second.
"What?"
I shrug. "Nothing. I'll be right back." I get up and walk out the door. I run to my room real quick and go to my dresser.
"Why are you wearing Draco's clothes?" Pansy's screeching voice squeals from behind me.
"Because I'm his girlfriend and fell asleep in his room last night. Now shut the fuck up before you wake up Parker." I snapped at her. I grab a pair of school clothes and leave the room before Pansy can say anything else. I walk into his room and hear the water running, so I go into the bathroom. The room is steamy and very warm, which is surprising because it is usually very cold. I take off my clothes, letting the cold air touch my skin. Never mind, it is very cold. I put my clothes on the sink, then I walk into the shower, creeping up behind Draco and wrapping my arms around his waist, laying my head on his back.
"Back so soon?" Draco says. I can just imagine the smirk on his face right now.
"Pansy was being annoying. And I want to be with you."
"Pansy's always annoying." He turns around, making me let go of him.
"You're so cute." He whispers under his breath. I smile and give him a quick kiss.
"So I just got my hair done, because you were taking so long, so it's your turn." He pulls me under the water, then grabs his shampoo bottle and pours shampoo all over my head.
"Why am I not surprised your shampoo is green apple scented?" He smirks at me, then starts massaging the shampoo into my hair. After he's done I rinse it out, then we both get out of the shower and get changed.
"Shit I forgot my brush." I whisper.
"You don't even brush your hair most days so why are you worried about that?"
"Shut up. I'm going to my dorm real quick. I'll be right back." I grab my dirty clothes, then walk to my room. I put my clothes away in a drawer because I'm too lazy to actually put them away properly. Then I go to the bathroom and actually brush my hair. Then I brush my teeth to get the taste of fire-whiskey out of my mouth. Yes, it's still there from last night. I drank a lot of it mainly thanks to Fred's dares. Fred and Draco both know I hate drinking, especially drinks like fire-whiskey and butter-beer, so they gave me a lot of those kinds of dares. When I'm done, I walk out of the bathroom and into my room. I walk in to find Parker awake, groaning with her hands over eyes.
"Headache?" I ask while trying to hold back a laugh.
"Migraine actually." She replies with a groan.
"Me too."
"We have school today don't we?"
"Yep. See you in Snape's class."
"Fuck school." She yells as I walk out of the room. I laugh, shaking my head a little.
"Why are you actually with her?" I hear Blaise shout from Draco's room. I gulp, as I stop by Draco's door to listen.
"What are you talking about Zabini?" Draco yells back.
"Why are you actually with Felicity? Pansy said she came into her room with your clothes on. If you're just in an arranged marriage, things like that wouldn't happen."
"What me and Felicity do is none of your business." Draco says.
"Wow. You are actually falling for a half-blood."
"I'm not falling for a half-blood. I'd never stoop that low. Not to mention my parents would kill me if I did." My smile falls.
"I don't believe that. You act differently around her and it's not good. If you are falling for her, just remember she's Potter's friend. She's gonna leave you to act like the hero." He walks out of the room and heads to the common room, Draco following him but stops at his door.
"How much did you hear?" Draco says as he sees me.
"Everything." I say weakly.
"I didn't mean any of it. Please don't think I meant any of it." He says as he tries to cup my cheek but I move away from him. I don't want him to touch me.
"Felicity, please." He pleads.
"I'm getting tired of hearing things like that." I choke out. Tears fill his eyes, as well as mine.
"Don't leave." He whispers. He pulls me into a hug, burying my face into his chest. I wrap my arms around him.
"What did you do now Malfoy?" Parker calls from behind me. I turn my head to look at her. She's standing at our door with her arms crossed.
"Just having a moment. Don't worry about it." She nods her head like she's suspicious of him and walks away. I turn back to look at Draco, laying my chin against his chest.
"Way to play it off." I mumble.
"Felicity. Believe me when I say that I love you and only you. I know I'm an idiot letting my reputation get in the way of that. But I'm an idiot that loves you very much." A blush creeps up to my cheeks. I hope he means it.
"You're a very cheesy idiot." He scrunches his nose, then rubs his nose against mine in a cute way, making the blush on my cheeks increase.
"A very cheesy idiot?" Draco says with a smirk on his face.
"Yes." He smiles, then leans down and kisses me.
"By the way I'm never going to leave you to act like a hero. Just because I'm friends with Harry doesn't mean I'm like that." I whisper after our lips pull away from each other.
"I know you won't." He whispers back. He kisses my forehead then lets go of me.
A few weeks later and it's Draco's birthday. I wake up in his bed, his arms around me and his head is resting against my chest. He is lightly snoring and gripping onto me, so I can't move. I stroke his hair a little, trying to occupy myself, until I am able to move freely. A light knock comes from the door, making me look up.
"I have the things you wanted put away in your drawer ok?" Parker says.
"Ok. I'll get them after dinner." I reply.
"You going to class?"
I nod my head. "I'm going to try. I need to ask Professor Sinistra something that I forgot to ask."
"Ok. Well I'll see you later. If you actually sleep in the room tonight."
"Hush. I'll see you later." I say, laughing a little bit. She rolls her eyes and leaves the room, going to breakfast most likely. Draco stirs a little but doesn't wake up. I have a date planned for him tonight. If I remember correctly Professor Sinistra said that the Draco constellation can be seen really well tonight but I have to ask her to make sure. I hope he likes it. The only reason I'm not throwing a big party for him like I did for Parker is because none of the people I'm friends with actually like him. I would either have to bribe them to go or drag them but I don't want to do that and I want it to be just me and him tonight.
"Felicity?" He whispers.
"Hm?" I hum in response. He picks his head up and looks at me.
"You could've woken me up."
"You looked peaceful." I hear a small meow come from the door and look up to see Shadow walk into the room.
"I swear that cat just appears out of nowhere." Draco whispers as Shadow hops on the bed and lays on Draco's back. I pick her up, making sure she doesn't claw Draco and hold her against my chest. She puts her paw on Draco's nose. It's the cutest thing in the world.
"What is she doing?" Draco asks, confused.
"I don't know but it's cute. I think she likes you." He kisses her paw, then takes her out of my hand and moves so she can snuggle into his chest. My heart melts at the sight. That is the cutest thing in the world.
"I don't want to do school today."
"I don't either but I need to ask Professor Sinistra something." I reply.
"Why?" Draco pouts.
"Homework." I lie.
"Didn't you get all of that done?"
"Yeah but this is for extra credit." He nods his head, giving me a sad look.
"Happy birthday by the way. Now we are finally the same age." I say then give him a quick kiss on the cheek. He smiles up at me, then lays his head on my shoulder.
"Just a couple more minutes then we will get up." Draco whispers.
"Alright." I scoot closer to him, making it to where he is basically on top of me. With one hand I play with Draco's hair and with the other I pet Shadow.
As I am about to fall asleep again, Draco abruptly sits up and puts Shadow down on the bed. He gets off the bed, dragging me with him. What the hell is he doing?
"What are you doing?" I ask as he drags me into the bathroom.
"Every good birthday should start with showering with your significant other." He says, turning towards me. He lightly pushes me onto the counter and kisses me.
"Isn't it a little too early for this?" I ask as we pull away.
"It's never too early, Darling." He says a little bit seductively. A lump forms in my throat. Damn that was hot. He pulls me into another kiss, then pulls away to start the shower, leaving me a little flustered.
"Getting a bit brave there, Malfoy." I joke.
"Well I could get a little braver." He says as he turns around towards me. He walks up to me, then puts one hand on my waist and the other at the back of my neck. I sloppily throw my arms around his neck, pulling me closer to him. His lips graze over my lips, making me shiver at his touch. He kisses my jaw and slowly travels down to my neck. This time is different. Every time he kisses me I get butterflies in my stomach.
"Please no hickeys." I mumble.
"What if I am giving them to you?"
"I'm not too keen on hickeys, Dray." I say with a slight moan that I didn't mean to have.
"Don't worry. I'm not." He laughs a little, then goes back to kissing my neck. After he gives me a couple more kisses, he pulls away and says, "You ready for the shower."
"I was waiting for you." I respond. We get undressed and walk into the shower together. I grab his shampoo bottle and pour a little bit on his head. He takes the bottle out of my hand and lets me scrub his hair.
"Is anybody in here?" Blaise's voice comes from the doorway. I walk behind Draco, trying not to be seen.
"I'm in here! Get out Zabini!" Draco shouts back. I put a hand over my mouth trying to keep myself quiet. Blaise still doesn't know that me and Draco's relationship is real, so he can't know that I'm in here. Most people don't actually, because his friends don't like me and my friends don't like him.
"He's gone." Draco says as he turns towards me. I shake my head ok.
"It's your turn." He says as he pours a bit of shampoo on my hair.
"You need to rinse yours."
"I can do both." He walks under the water and quickly rinses his hair, then starts massaging the shampoo into my hair. Once he's done, he pulls me under the water and lets me rinse out my hair.
"Want to skip class? Or the rest of the classes I mean." Draco asks as I finish rinsing out my hair.
"I would love to but I have to ask Professor Sinistra about the extra credit."
"Ok. How about this? We don't go to class and right before dinner you go talk to Sinistra and I go to the library because I have some work to do."
"Alright." He smiles at me, then shuts off the water.
"You could've warned me that you were gonna do that. It's cold." I say with my teeth chattering.
"I'm getting the towels." He says laughing. Draco hands me a towel, so I cover myself up. Why the fuck did Salazar Slytherin decide to put our fucking dorms in the fucking dungeons? It's fucking freezing down here, especially in the winter time. I have to stop complaining. As I step out of the shower, Draco throws a hoodie and a pair of sweatpants at me, which almost end up on the floor because I can't catch with one hand. I can't catch with both hands. We quickly get changed and walk to the bed to lay down. I crawl into bed and nuzzle my head into Draco's side. He wraps his arm around my side and pulls me closer to him. I let the warmth of him sink into my cold body. Usually he is quite cold but right now he is the warmest thing in this room. He rakes his hand through my hair, while I start to draw tiny circles on his chest with my finger. Any stress that I was feeling leaves my body. This is calming. I wish I had this in my real reality. I would if I wasn't such a dumbass when it comes to my dating life. I have never been able to get a boyfriend and if I did I'd usually end up breaking up with them after a while because of my commitment issues.
"What are you thinking about love?" Draco asks, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I shrug. "Nothing really. Just kinda zoned out a bit."
"Ok." We start talking about random things. Just enjoying each other's company.
A couple hours go by and it is almost time for dinner. We get up and get changed into normal clothes, then meet up in the common room.
"I'll meet you at dinner. I might be a little late ok." Draco says as he wraps his arm around my waist. We leave the common room and start heading to our different places. I walk all the way to the Astronomy classroom. Finding Professor Sinistra at her table.
"Professor?" I ask to get her attention. She looks up at me, with her brown eyes telling me to continue. "I was wondering. The other day in class you said soon the Draco constellation would be really visible. I was wondering what day that was supposed to be?"
"That would be tonight." She replies with a nod.
"Thank you Professor." She nods her head and I turn around, leaving the room heading to the great hall. I walk in and head over to the Slytherin table for once. I sat down at the end of the table where no one was really sitting and started filling my plate with a salad. I have surprisingly learned to like salads over the past year. Which is weird. To me anyway. I've kinda forced myself to eat them.
As the end of dinner started to draw near, Malfoy did not show up. I mentally rolled my eyes as I got up and left the table to head to my dorm. I have to grab my present for Malfoy before I go see him.
"Pure-blood." I say. The painting opens up and I walk into the common room, feeling a bit defeated. He probably got sidetracked. Besides, it's just dinner. Not that important. I hope he is ok though. It's not like him to skip out on things like that. I walk into my dorm and walk straight to my dresser, grabbing my present and the cupcake I had Parker bake. I suck at baking cupcakes so I asked Parker to bake it. I then walked over to Draco's dorm, his door slightly open. I walk in quietly, finding him at his desk, his head in his hands. I walk over to him and wrap one arm around his waist, then set the cupcake down in front of him.
"Thank you." Draco whispers.
"I have one more thing." I say quietly matching his whisper. I put a green bag on the desk in front of him.
"For you." I say before giving him a small kiss behind the ear. He turns around, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me into his lap.
"Thank you." He says as he buries his face into my shoulder. He looks up for a second and grabs the present. He opens it and pulls out the ring I had got him a couple months ago. A small smile tugs at his lips as he examines the ring. He puts it on the index finger of his left hand.
"Again thank you. It means a lot." A sad look flashes across his face for a quick second.
"You ok?" I whisper.
"Yeah. I just expected my parents to write. It doesn't matter, though. I have you." He says the first part with a sigh. I lay my head on his shoulder.
"You'll always have me." I whisper into his shoulder. He wraps his other arm around me, pulling me closer to him. He kisses my forehead and we stay here in this position for a bit.
"I have some work to finish, so when I'm done we can cuddle if you want." Draco says after a couple of minutes.
"I actually have plans for me and you so don't take too long." I reply, causing him to raise his eyebrow in curiosity.
"I won't." He says before kissing me. I pull away, then get up and sit on his bed.
After about an hour, Draco turns to me and says, "Ready." I nod my head and stand up, taking his hand in my hand. I lead him out of the dorm and out of the common room. I lead him to the Astronomy tower. I won't bother to have him close his eyes. The place is too far away and he's already familiar with the layout of Hogwarts so he'll know where he is going.
We get to the Astronomy tower a few minutes later.
"Up here?" Draco questioned.
"Yep." I say as I drag him to the railings. I look around for a quick second looking for the constellation. I look for the big dipper. Halfway the lip of the cup and Polaris is the dragon's tail.
"Look where I'm pointing." I say as I point to the Draco constellation.
"Yes, Ms. Bossy." He says before looking up at the sky. I put my hand down and watched a smile form on his face.
"The constellation I was named after." He mouths. I nod and lay my head on his shoulder.
"Professor Sinistra said it would be visible so I thought you'd like to see it."
"Thank you." He whispers. He kisses my forehead, then goes back to looking at the constellation. We stand in silence for a while, looking at the stars. The stars look so beautiful tonight. The sky is a deep shade of blue, making the white of the stars pop out. I bet if I looked hard enough I could find other constellations. But I don't really want to do that.
"Have you ever heard of the story behind the Draco constellation?" Draco asks after a while.
"I've heard one of the stories."
"I've heard all of them."
"I'm not surprised."
"My favorite as a kid was always the one with Hercules." He says, ignoring my statement.
"My favorite was the one where the goddess Minerva killed him. You know technically that would make you and Mcgonagall enemies."
"Why?"
"Well her first name is Minerva and you are Draco. That would technically make you enemies by the history of the names."
"You're starting to sound like Granger."
"I've been studying with her. She drills these things into my head. But I'm thankful for that. If I had her during my homeschooling I would've gotten a lot more done."
"That's good." His voice strained. He is trying not to insult her in front of me. Most likely he is going to say it when I'm not around.
"Happy Birthday Dray."
"Thank you, Love."
