Chapter 11
|| how can the villain of the story be you? You were the love of my life ||
Fred P.O.V
It was the night of the last task and I was collecting the last bets, its been a few days since I broke up with Y/N.
I haven’t seen her in a couple days, since I broke up with her. I wondered how she was doing.
I didn’t see her anywhere tonight, maybe she just wouldn’t be attending, I guess that’s fine I didn’t really expect her to, especially after how she reacted to me breaking up with her.
You never realize how much you mean to someone until it's over and you’re not with that person anymore.
I didn’t realize.
“WEASLEY!” I turned around to see Oliver Wood storming towards me, his eyes ablaze with fury, he said he’d be here for the last task since he had gotten off for it.
Dammit he must have heard about everything.
Oliver was trudging towards me, he was fastly closing in.
When he got to me he smacked my money box out of my hand and he raised his fist and was about to hit me when I see George tackle him in front of me.
Oliver was struggling against George screaming at me everybody crowding around to watch the commotion, where were the teachers at this time?
“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!” He screamed. “YOU LEFT HER, YOU USED HER FOR A BET, George this was probably your idea huh?”
George let go of him finally when Oliver shoved him down and stood pointing at me.
“You are a terrible person for going along with it, Y/N is a good person, shes sweet and beautiful and smart and talented and you wasted that away! She told me that she really, REALLY liked you! I wanted her back and she wouldn’t have me, I love her…” He paused and choked.
“I doubted myself when I was thinking about it, I told her you were probably using her or it was a dare or something like that because she was so sure that you liked her too.”
“And I cannot believe you would hurt her like that, four months of her life wasted when she could have been happy without you and then when I came back happy with me.”
“Why would she bloody care?” George asked growling at Oliver. “She’s a snake, she’s heartless.”
“You are so bloody ignorant George,” Oliver said.
Oliver came closer to me and poked me in the chest.
“She’s in the infirmary, just in case you were wondering where she was,” He said.
“What…what happened?” I asked him, my voice was low and I felt like the heat was drained from my face.
“Don’t act like you care Fred,” Oliver said, rolling his eyes before he turned around and began walking away from us.
“Oliver,” I said before he could leave.
“What Fred?” He growled.
“Tell her I’m sorry?”
“Tell her your bloody self Fred,” He said and turned back around leaving the field.
“Are you going to go see her?” I hear George ask.
“Yeah… I might,” I admitted, but I didn’t know if it was a good idea.
“I guess she really liked you,” He chuckled, rolling his eyes.
I felt fury seeing him roll his eyes. What the hell was his problem, this didn’t affect him at all? I walked away from him and left him to clean up the money spilled himself.
I walked up the steps to the infirmary and into the infirmary, I didn’t bring anything, but to be fair I didn’t know what to bring.
I pushed open the door to the infirmary and see immediately a curtained off area towards the back, it was the only area in the place where there was someone, that must have been her.
I walked slowly over there and knocked on a metal post to which Adrian Pucey pushed open the curtain rather angrily when he saw me.
“You have some nerve coming here, who told you she was in here? Oliver?” He growled.
“Adrian,” I hear her voice call. “Just let him in…”
He sighed and rolled his eyes stepping to the side to let me in.
There were a few bouquets of flowers on the bedside table. She was curled in a ball on her side facing away from me.
I didn’t see what was wrong with her, but I’d ask once Pucey left.
“Adrian can you leave please?” She asked him and because she asked he nodded and patted her hand before leaving us alone.
“What happened to you?” I asked her once we were alone, I sat in the chair that was placed beside her bedside.
“Hypothermia apparently, I dunno I think Adrian overreacted but Madam Pomfrey excused me from classes for a couple days until she’s sure that my fever’s gone,” She answered me, she didn’t look at me.
“Oh…”
“Yeah…so…why are you here, if I mean nothing to you why would you come here? I’m only worth thirty galleons right?”
“I’m sorry Y/N,” I said leaning in my seat towards her.
“Are you?”
“I am, I should never have played that stupid bloody game,” I said, placing my hand on the bed.
“And I should never have said yes,” She said, turning around looking at me.
Her face was pale and her hair was pulled back into a bun, her eyes looked dull as she watched me.
The color had drained from her lips and it made me want to kiss them to try and bring the color back to them, but I knew that wasn’t an option.
“I really am sorry, I’m stupid-”
“Yeah you are, and you’re prejudiced,” She said.
It was the fact that she wasn’t being mad about it instead she was rather calm that made it all worse, I felt absolutely terrible.
“What made you think that it was a good idea to ‘date me’?” She put quotation marks around ‘date me’, and seeing them made me cringe deep inside, I felt terrible, my insides were tearing me up.
“I didn’t think that I’d get attached,” I looked down at my hands. “I’m sorry…I wish I knew how to make it up to you.”
“Ha!” She scoffed. “You didn’t think that you’d get attached? Fred, truly? That's great to know, I guess I’d be just an embarrassment to you huh? I doubt you’d be able to make it up to me Fred.”
“I’d like to try,” I said, grabbing her soft hand from her lap.
She looked at my hand with disgust and pulled her hand out of my hand.
“Fred?” I heard my mothers voice coming from the outside of the curtain. I hadn’t heard the infirmary door open and close when she had entered.
The curtain was pushed open, and my mothers face popped into the little white box that was Y/N’s area.
“Oh, hello dear who might you be?” She asked Y/N with a smile on her face, I glanced at Y/N and listened to her words carefully.
“I’m Y/N, Mrs.Weasley, I’m Freds ex ex-girlfriend,” She smiled, shaking my mothers hand.
“Oh dear, ex? You are lovely, truly, you seem like a nice girl, whatever happened?”
“Uh…it was just the wrong time for us,” Y/N answered, why was she lying for me?
“We decided it would be best for the two of us.”
“Perhaps you’ll reunite with each other in the future,” my mum said looking at me.
“Yeah, maybe if she’ll let me,” I murmured that last part so Y/N only heard it.
“Anyways, Fred, your brother told me you were in here, it's nearly time for dinner. I was hoping to dine with my children-and if Miss.Y/N is up to it as well,” my mother told me. “Well, I’ll leave you two alone, but do come down soon.”
I nodded and my mother left the infirmary.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize that she was going to be here,” I said, not meeting Y/N’s eyes.
“It's fine, at least one of you is decent,” She answered.
“Why’d you lie?”
“Because…even though you embarrassed me I’d never purposely embarrass you-especially in front of your own mother,” She told me looking me in the eyes when I looked up at her.
“I don’t deserve that.”
“Trust me…I know you don't, but perhaps if you start today you might one day,” She said this last part as she picked at the infirmary blanket with shaking hands, as if she was scared to say that last part.
“I’ll do my best…”
