Note
This is the first story I ever published on Ao3, and English is also my second language so the writing is not really good. The song was so beautiful that I think of Newtina right when I heard it at the end of the film.I hope you guys enjoy it٩(◕‿◕。)۶

When the main party was over, the dancing part was on and Jacob led his way to the dance floor with Queenie. It was just a small space in the middle of the tiny house, but they were both happier than ever, as long as they were together.

The music seemed to light up the whole wedding, with Queenie in her husband's arms, enjoying their moment. From the distance was Lally chatting with Theseus, Bunty complaining to Tina about how naughty Teddy the niffler was. And Newt, who had been standing on his own in the corner for a while with a blushing face, eyes sticking on Tina just to catch hers also glanced at him once in a while.

The light suddenly dimmed out and the music changed into a soft sweet song rather than all the fun jazzy from the beginning. It was Lally who changed it. She thought the song would fit the atmosphere more, and may even bring up the feelings to someone. Theseus could easily figure out Lally's attempt. His silly brother was so obviously in love, yet the boy was too shy to ask her for a dance. Maybe the song and this shade of lights may somehow encourage him to make his move.

"No need to thank me, just want to help."

Lally chuckled, gave Theseus a nudge.

“Hope my idiotic brother make the most of his chance.”

Afterwards, Newt gathered all his courage, took a deep breath and made his way to Tina. She smiled right when she saw Newt approaching, and wondered what took him so long to finally come to her.

"Would you-"

He stammered, eyes on the ground, trying to recollect every word that he had been practising in his head. After a few seconds of calming himself, Newt finally spoke his request.

"Would you want to dance with me?"

The proposal was made eventually, with a raise from the corner of Newt's lips and on the other side, Tina beamed with satisfaction.

"Yes, I'd love to."

"You make a wish, you cast a spell

You hope an angel rings a bell

You find yourself still in love

With love."

As the very first lyrics were on, Newt placed one hand on her waist, while the other found its way to her hand. He took hers gently, squeezed a little. He stepped one step forward, then backward, to the left, to the right, and her feet followed him across the dark floor. There were moments when he accidentally stepped on her feet, Newt would awkwardly say sorry to her instantly, then she would smile in response and tell him it’s okay. It took a while for them to get used to the moves and the song to feel the rhythm completely at last.

He pulled her closer to him, letting their body collapse. She curled her fingers around his neck, his palm against her back as they danced slowly. The song was too romantic and too close to their hearts that every moment they shared together started to reassemble in their minds. Every meet, every single touch, all led to this moment, and they had never been this close before. So close that Newt could feel the warmth of her body, and the scent of her mild cologne evaded the air.

Tina placed her head on his shoulder while her hand gripped tighter on the fabric of his lounge jacket. They were cheek to cheek, but Newt leaned back at that to narrowed his eyes at her. The glassy black eyes, being reflected by the gloomy light, just like fire in water, in dark water, and he had only ever seen that in...

"You really have the eyes of a salamander."

The words blurted out from his tongue faster than his brain could try to stop. Even though Jacob had kept reminding Newt not to say that way, he couldn't help himself. A grin appeared on Tina's face in reply, and a slight frown in confusion from Newt.

"Why are you smiling? Is there somethin-"

Newt didn't get the chance to finish his sentence as Tina tipped her face up, out of the blue, and the next second he had already felt her soft lips on his left cheek.

Right when her lips just shifted from his cheekbone, she bowed down to hide her blushing face. Newt tilted her head to make her look up at him, and caressed her cheek. Their eyes met again, quiet and soft, and Newt was struck, by how beautiful she was right at this moment. Her beauty was evident right from her dark brown hair, her black eyes and full lips. He couldn't help but stare into her gorgeous lips, exposed all to himself. Then, after a blink of hesitation, he leaned forward until his lips met Tina's. The kiss was slow and deep and full of all the passion as much as love he had for her; that things had changed and now there is nobody he ever loved more than Tina.

As the outro came, Tina rested her forehead against his, her arms embraced his shoulder when his arm cupped her chin, remained in eye contact, and they swayed slow and close through the end of the song.

“When your lips meet mine

It is so divine

And I'm in Heaven.”
