The Kiss
I cannot believe how oblivious Harlan is to my obvious adoration to him. I mean, literally everyone I know knows that I have a crush on my best friend apart from him, and it was just so damn frustrating! I mean, that idiot, Mikael even knows and he keeps sending me these knowing looks and then I finally decided not to be a coward on his fourteenth birthday and asked him out. To my elation, he said yes! I am now sitting on the sofa outside his dorm room, waiting for him to get dressed for our date. I still cannot believe I am going on a date with Harlan, the most gorgeous boy in the multiverse!! And that he actually agreed to go on a date with me, Viktor Krum! Mikael left the room and I instantly shot up again. He sighed and rolled his eyes at me. I glared at him for a second before staring at the dorm door.
"Y'know, it's not going to help if you burn a hole through the door with your eyes. He's nervous enough as it is."
I turned and glared at him but before I could say something, someone cleared their throat from behind me. I spin around and my breath caught at the sight in front of me. I stepped closer and saw him fiddling with his dress shirt, twisting his fingers around the fabric. I grabbed ahold of his hand and lifted it up to my lips, brushing his knuckles with the faintest touch.
"Hello." His voice was breathless as if he'd been running a mile.
"Hello. You look gorgeous, Harlan." My voice was just as breathless as his, and I watched in delight as his pale cheeks flushed at the compliment.
"Get a room!" The moment was broken by Ishmael, one of my roommates, who I then and there swore would never see his photo of his precious girlfriend, Daphne Greengrass from Hogwarts. The room broke out into giggles and I glared at them all before tugging Harlan into the corridor where there was peace and privacy finally.
"Viktor?"
"Yes, gorgeous?" I was delighted to see the redness of Harlan's cheeks move down to his neck and up to the tips of his ears.
"Um, why.. Why did you want to go on a date with me?" My face fell into a frown as Harlan seemed to hunch in on himself as he said it. I couldn't believe it. Was Harlan... uncertain about my feelings towards him?
"Why wouldn't I want to go on a date with you? I mean, you're a gorgeous, kind, amazing soul who deserves to be loved, don't you think?"
Harlan's cheeks were a deep crimson colour now and he ducked his head away from me, but I held his chin up with two fingers and stared into his emerald green eyes, conveying as much love and care as I could into that one look.
My voice was quiet a whisper that wouldn't have been heard had it been said during the busy school hours, "May I kiss you?"
Harlan made a small sound and nodded his head sharply in my grip, "Yes. Please."
And so I kissed him. It was not explosive but it was... I cannot describe in words how it felt to kiss the boy of my dreams.. And all before the actual date itself!
