(Nikki’s POV)
Nikki Murdock and her friends Ashanti Brown, Peter Parker, Ned Leeds, and her girlfriend Michelle Jones aka MJ were just sitting in the gym waiting for Academic Decathlon practice to start with her other team members.
“Dude when is Mr.Harrington going to get here? Cause Uncle Matt will literally kill me if I’m late to work.” Nikki asks her friends.
Kreshnike “Nikki” Murdock is Matt Murdock’s “niece”. Well technically she’s not really his niece, it’s more of a bonding thing. What Nikki truly is is an EX-Hydra child assassin who escaped from Hydra when she was 12. Nikki was freshly 13 after her and Matt met after he saved her from a building almost collapsing on top of her, after realizing she had no home or family to go to Matt decided to take her in. It took a while for Nikki to open up to Matt considering her past with Hydra since she was born and raised there, but now at 16-years old her and Matt have gotten close enough for him to know enough but not a lot about Nikki and her past. Nikki now works as an intern for Matt at his firm, Nelson, Murdock, & Page. She doesn’t really do much except help Matt with organizing files and reading over old cases, but she still likes it and gets paid, (like $10 bucks an hour but hey money is money), she also likes to gossip to Matt, Foggy, and Karen about her school and her vigilante life. Oh wait I forgot to mention, instead of being a brainwashed assassin like how she was with Hydra, Nikki is secretly now the known vigilante as Anti. Only Matt, Foggy, Karen, Ashanti, Frank, Wade, and Peter know, since they’re all vigilantes anyways (except for Foggy and Karen they only found out because they found Nikki get a stab wound stitched by Matt’s nurse friend/ex-girlfriend Claire).
Ashanti is Nikki’s best friend cause not only was she Nikki’s first friend ever, they knew each other since Ashanti was a child assassin for the Red Room, and since Hydra and Red Room worked with each other Nikki and Ashanti were partners on missions they had to do. So after Nikki escaped she soon met Ashanti again, (when they were both unbrainwashed) and now they grew closer than ever and are the only two people who know a LOT about each other, more than they would tell anyone else. Ashanti is also a vigilante named Phantom. Ashanti and Nikki live together in Hell’s Kitchen in an apartment across from Matt’s, how they got it was by leasing it under Matt’s name and threatening the landlord to have them pay a discounted rent that was affordable, and when you put a Hydra assassin and a Red Room assassin together…it doesn’t go well for the person they’re torturing.
Anyways, Ashanti and Nikki were both accepted into Midtown High where they met Peter, Ned, and Mj. They became quick friends, and soon enough Mj became Nikki’s first girlfriend after Nikki figured out that she is bisexual. Everyone in the friend group knows about Peter being Spider-Man but only Peter knows about Nikki and Ashanti being Anti and Phantom.
“I don’t know Nikki, but I’m pretty sure I heard that Mr.Harrington has a big announcement to make to the Aca Deca team today so maybe that’s why he’s late” Ned responds, bored as he flips through his textbook.
Nikki rolls her eyes and leans back onto Mj who is reading a book. “Yes Nikki?” Mj asks in a monotone voice, “Whatcha readingggg?” Nikki asks as she turns her head on Mj’s shoulder to look at her book. “Of Human Bondage by W. Somerset Maugham” Mj says as she closes her book and turns her head to Nikki. “You know you’re cute when you’re all focused on a book you’re reading” Nikki says as she quickly kisses Mj’s cheek as she lifts her head off of Mj’s shoulder to see Mr.Harrington walk through the door, Mj lightly blushes but also turns her head to look at Mr.Harrington.
“Sorry I’m late everyone there was a conflict in the teaches lounge that I had to help get rid of” Mr.Harrington says as he stands on the stage, “Now I’m sure you’ve all heard rumors about a special announcement that I may or may not be giving today.”
Everyone in the team quickly turns their heads to look at Mr.Harrington, eagerly waiting for him to make the announcement.
“Since we won the competition in DC the school has given us special permission to go on a field trip to…Stark Industries!” Mr.Harrington says excitedly as everyone in the room starts to cheer loudly at the announcement. But only Nikki and her friend group are the only ones not cheering, except for Ned who is cheering as well even though he has already been inside the tower multiple times as so has Mj since Peter does live there and has invited them, he’s invited Nikki and Ashanti too but they’ve always declined for a reason they wouldn’t say. Peter, however, after hearing the announcement groans and bangs his head on the table.
“Yo Peter, are you good?” Ashanti asks as Peter stops banging his head on the table and looks at her, “No. Mr.Harrington just announced that we’re going on a field trip to SI and I just know that my family is going to embarrass me there” Peter says in a distressed tone and sees out of the corner of his eye, Mj pulling out her crisis notebook and starting to draw Peter in it.
“Oh shit I lowkey forgot that you actually live there Pete, well it can’t be that bad” Ashanti says reassuringly to Peter, but then she gets cut off by Flash “YO Penis Parker, you ready for your lies about your little ‘internship’ at Stark Industries to be exposed” Flash says in a cocky tone.
Peter rolls his eyes but ignores Flash and thanks to his enhanced hearing, Peter could hear Nikki and Ashanti whispering to each other in two different languages about something they seem distressed about but unless you could hear their hushed tone, their pasts have taught them how to hide their emotions well.
Nikki and Ashanti were whispering to each other in Albanian and Wakandan because Albanian is Nikki’s ethnicity and Wakandan is Ashanti’s ethnicity and they both know the languages, (along with German, Russian, and English), so Ashanti and Nikki like to speak their languages to each other whenever they’re alone or need to speak about something urgent when they know no one else could understand them.
“Okay so how the hell are we going to go to SI and possibly see the Avengers if two of them know and most likely remembers me and one of them knows you and most likely remembers you” I say to Ashanti in Albanian.
See the problem is is that Ashanti and Nikki already knew Avengers, and not in a way they would want to meet them. Ashanti knew Natasha Romanov since Natasha was one of Ashanti’s mentors in the Red Room before Natasha escaped when Ashanti was 7. Nikki knows James Barnes and Wanda Maximoff since when Nikki was 10 she was forced to room with Wanda and be an experiment to how strong Wanda’s powers are. And from when Nikki was a toddler until she was 5, her and Bucky were forced to share a room together in Hydra as they were both experimented and trained together. Nikki and Bucky had a mutual/kinda close bond with each other but whenever Bucky would go on a mission he would get brainwashed again to forget his memories which would make him forget Nikki again and again, but Nikki never forgot about him. They would keep recreating the bond but then Bucky was taken away one day and Nikki never saw him in person again, only whenever she would have to do her WW2 unit in school where everyone had to learn about Steve and Bucky. Nikki and Ashanti both know about each other’s experience with these Avengers.
“I don’t know Nik but we gotta figure out…maybe Mr.Harrington will let us skip this trip…?” Ashanti says to me. “No sadly, he said that it’s apparently “mandatory”…ugh actually fml” I say to Ashanti as she nods in agreement.

(Peter’s POV)
Mr.Harrington just announced the field trip and I’m totally dreading it. I just know that as soon as Dad and the rest of the Avengers find out they’re going to make it their life’s mission to embarrass me in front of my entire Academic Decathlon team, this might even accidentally reveal my secret identity as Spider-Man.
After Mr.Harrington announces the field trip I see Ashanti and Nikki immediately look at each other and whisper to each other. My enhanced hearing picks up that they’re speaking foreign languages to each other that I don’t understand, probably Albanian and Wakandan since they speak in those languages a lot. But I wonder what they’re talking about. I know they never wanted to go to SI but they really never told me why…maybe it has something to do with their past with Hydra/Red Room but I would never ask in case that makes them have flashbacks and just…yeah. So I don’t really wanna make them feel bad and make myself feel bad.
I turn to Mj, Ned, Nikki, and Ashanti “Ugh actually fml.” I say to them annoyed and dreadful.
