Mark watched his best friend pace back in forth near the entrance to the library in complete panic.
"Evan...." He spoke softly as he let out a sigh.
"This is gonna fail...he's gonna hate me...." Evan muttered as he pulled at his own hair.
Mark sighed deeply "Evan will you relax....all you're gonna do is hand him some letter and all will be fine" He stated "I doubt those pesky gryffindors can ruin this plan" He quickly added.
Evan quickly turned his attention to his best friend "They ruined our last plan! And they'll ruin this!! They ruin everything!!" He shouted out.
Mark stayed silent, he wasn't sure what to say cause Evan was right. Potter and his friends seem to ruin anything that involves Severus and he wasn't sure why. They had ruined their last plan that involved polyjuice, they had showed up when he was in process of confessing to Severus while disguised at Evan.
Luckily his cover wasn't blown but it was still upsetting especially considering he wound up in the hospital wing. To his relief Madam Pomfrey didn't tell the headmaster about his use of polyjuice but now he had to help her out in the infirmary for rest of his school year. Which to be fair he was ok with cause he liked to help people.
His mind began to race trying to figure out how to calm Evan. He felt this was a good plan considering that Potter and his friends never go to the library except for Lupin. Now part of him was afraid that Lupin would be there and see Evan give Severus the letter and the last thing he wanted for him to tell his friends and for them to somehow take the letter away before Severus could read it.
He was quiet for some time before an idea came mind. It was so simple he wasn't sure why he didn't think of it before. He grabbed hold of Evan's arm and began to drag him straight towards the Herbology classroom.
"What- where are we going?" Evan asked in confusion. Mark simply smiled "I got an idea but first we need to make a stop at the Herbology classroom!" He said excitedly. Evan allowed himself to be dragged atleast now he won't have to give the letter to Severus. He will eventually but now.
The pair finally reached their destination and once Mark let go of his arm did he finally ask his best friend what exactly his plan was and why did it involve coming here.
"We're gonna ask Professor Sprout to conjure up some of Severus's favorite flowers-"
"Tulips"
"Yes, tulips, and we'll leave them on his bed along with the letter" He explained "You two share a dorm so it'll be easy plus there's no way those jerks can ruin this cause they won't be able to enter the Slytherin common room" He added.
Evan pondered over the idea and tried to think of ways for it to get ruined. Yet he couldn't think of one, he thought his two other roommates, Mulciber and Avery, would mess it up but he knows they wouldn't invade someone's privacy especially Severus's.
He felt his mind go at ease, this could probably work. "Alright" He finally spoke after awhile "Let's do this" Mark smiled and entered the Herbology classroom with Evan in tow. They searched for Professor Sprout for a bit before finding her in the very back of the class.
"Professor!" Mark shouted out happily which startled her. Sprout beamed when she saw who had called out for her "Oh hello Mister Mucaliber and Mister Rosier now what do I owe the pleasure to this lovely visit?" She spoke.
"We were wondering if you'd be so kind as to help us get some flowers-"
"Tulips"
Mark chuckled "Yes Evan, tulips for someone special" He spoke while smiling.
"My, my I take it this someone is special to Mr. Rosier" She stated. Mark nodded "Correct you are Professor, so would you be willing to help?" He asked.
Professor Sprout smiled "Of course I would, anything for my best student" She said and pulled out her wand. She pointed her wand at an empty pot nearby and casted a spell. After a few seconds tulips began to appear, she picked up the pot and handed it over to the two boys.
"Here you go boys, if that is all I wish you both the best. Now I must go to a meeting" She explained. Mark and Evan thanked her for help and wished her well. Evan held onto the pot, holding the tulips, for dear life as he and mark made their way back to the Slytherin commons.
"Evan any tighter and you'll break the pot..." Mark said as he looked at his friend in concern. Evan simply glared at him but loosened his hold a bit. The pair finally arrived at the Slytherin commons and quickly went inside.
Mark turned around to face his friend and smiled "Well Evan this is it, all you gotta do now is leave the tulips and the letter on Severus's bed and wait" He said. Evan tried not to panic, his mind was racing and he felt himself tightening his hold on the pot holding the tulips.
He knew nothing could go wrong, that after today Severus would finally know of his feelings but now he didn't want to tell him. He had been crushing on him for years and he was afraid that if he confessed that this would end their friendship and he didn't think he could handle losing Severus completely.
Evan felt tears form in his eyes as the thought of losing Severus became to much. He began to shake a bit trying his best not to cry in front of his best friend and the other Slytherins that were currently present. Mark took notice of his best friend's distress and pulled him into a hug.
"It'll be alright Evan, I swear it'll be alright. There's no need to panic" He spoke calmly as he gently rubbed Evan's back. This seemed to calm him down and Mark smiled glad that Evan was no longer panicking.
He pushed Evan away a bit "Come on now let's go leave the tulips and the letter on Severus's bed" He said, Evan didn't say a word but nodded as he wiped away the tears from his face. Mark grabbed his hand and guided him to Severus's dorm room.
They walked in silence and once they arrived Evan stepped forward and opened the door. Evan walked in first and then Mark followed suit but he only took one step before bumping into Evan. He stared at his friend in confusion before catching sight of what made him freeze in place.
"Oh...Hi Severus!" He said happily and grabbed hold of Evan's shoulders before gently pushing him more into the room. "Hi Mark" Severus said as he rummaged through his school trunk. A minute later and Severus closed the trunk and stood up to face Mark but came face to face with Evan instead.
"Ah, hello Evan I didn't know you were here too" He said and Evan simply froze. Severus wasn't supposed to be here, he was supposed to be anywhere but here. Now how was Evan supposed to the leave the tulips and letter on his bed.
No this is not how it was supposed happen, no not at all. "Evan?" He heard Severus call out to him and he shook his head "Uh...h-hi" he stuttered out nervously. Mark gave Evan a nudge from behind and this promoted Evan to hold out the pot containing the tulips "For you!" He shouted out in a nervous panic.
He bit his tongue and tried his best not to shake. Severus was a bit shocked but that quickly faded and he smiled as he stared at the tulips. Severus took the tulips from Evan and beamed "Oh these are absolutely beautiful, thank you" He said happily "I love tulips" He added happily as he spun around to place the pot of tulips on his nightstand.
"Give him the letter" Mark whispered in Evan's ear while Severus was distracted. Evan was about to pull out the letter from his robe pocket when Severus came over and hugged him tightly. Evan seemed to short circuit and his face began to heat up. Mark couldn't help but giggle at his friends reaction to being hugged by his crush.
Severus let go and gently placed a kiss on Evan's cheek "Thank you again for the tulips Evan, I greatly appreciate it" He said softly "I have to go now, I have to meet Lily at the library" He added as he grabbed hold of his book bag and began to walk away.
"Hogsmeade!!!" Evan shouted out in panic as Severus headed for the door. Severus turned around in confusion "What?"
Evan tried not to go into complete panic "H-hogsmeade- I....you- I" He tried to speak but his nerves seemed to get the best of him and he was unable to form a sentence. Luckily for him Mark was still in the room so he didn't have to worry for long.
Severus continued to stare at Evan in confusion and now concern before Mark stepped forward and placed an arm around Evan's shoulder "What my darling friend is trying say is that he would like it very much if you'd accompanied him to hogsmeade this weekend" He spoke.
Severus felt his face heat up "Like- like a date??" He questioned. Evan nodded quickly too afraid to open his mouth and make a fool of himself. Severus thought for a moment before smiling widely "Yeah- yeah okay, sure" He said happily.
Evan beamed "Really?" He asked in shock.
Severus nodded "Yes"
"So 7?"
"Sounds wonderful, I'll see you then. Bye Evan, bye Mark" Severus said as he walked out of the room and headed to the library. Evan stood there smiling like some fool and Mark felt so happy for his friend "Well congrats Evan you finally got a date with Severus" He said as he patted Evan's back.
Evan quickly hugged Mark "Thank you, for everything" He muttered. Mark smiled "You're welcome" He said as he hugged back.
