The News
Aquila had seated herself on the Gryffindor Table in front of Scorpius who was munching the Turkey away. Albus was slurping his poorly made soup, copying James's movements. Roxanne and Fred were discussing about the N.E.W.T.S. that the both of them were taking that year. "Fred, you have already failed your year twice. You need to pass this year or you don't graduate," Roxanne reasoned. Fred wasn't a terrible student, its just the teachers... "I'll pass, Rox, don't worry!" Fred waved a hand dismissingly. Aquila her fruit salad to the Potter brothers. James raised his brow at her. Albus happily took a piece of watermelon and bit into it. "I ordered it for the three of you," she said softly. Rose, who was sitting beside Aquila, grabbed a fruit too.
Hundreds of owls came soaring into the Great Hall along with two large Augureys. One of them swooped towards the ground and transformed into Delphini while the other swooped a letter onto Aquila's lap. Delphini hurried towards the professor's table and quickly grabbed Headmaster Lestrange and Professor Malfoy out of the Great Hall. Aquila frowned as she read the letter's label. Who would be sending her a letter? She read through the cursives of the writing, "To Albus Severus Potter, James Sirius Potter, Rose Granger-Weasley, Roxanne Weasley and Fred Weasley II." She swiftly handed the letter to James who hastily ripped it open. He skimmed through the contents of the letter and gasped. His eyes glossed over as his cousins and Albus snatched the letter from him and read it themselves. Rose had tears streaming down her face and Roxanne had her hands covering her mouth. James sat there gloomily with Albus while Fred (wo was the last to read it) sorrowfully handed it to Aquila. Scorpius leaned forwards to get a glimpse of it as well.
'Dear Albus, James, Rose, Roxanne and Fred,
There How are you guys doing? I hope nothing is too bad and Fred is concentrating on his studies to not fail this year. What do you guys want for Christmas?
I know this may come as a shock but you grand there was an attack at the New Burrow. I do not know how to break the happening as I myself am still in a shock, so, I will ask Delphini (who saved our arse) [Your very Welcome] to explain.
Hey kids, Professor Riddle here. Although I managed to ward of the Death-Eaters, I wasn't able to arrive early enough. It is with guilt, sorrow and sadness that I inform you this terrible news. Your Grandmother, unfortunately, I could not save. I am immensely sorry. I ask you to come to your home as soon as possible, Apparating with Professor Malfoy (Harry has given permission of-course) and bring Aquila and Scorpius if you please. I know you are semi-close. Also, Aquila is needed here too as Harry wished to discuss some important matters concerning the head incident.
Again, I am truly sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Professor Riddle.'
Aquila neatly folded the paper and kept it in her vivid red robes. She stood up, as did the other, and walked towards the headmasters office. Neither of them like Rudolphus. Aquila wondered if it was the attack that she heard Voldemort plan with his death-eaters the recent summer. She quickly dismissed it because that mass murder was clearly to have been held in Muggle London. She knew where the New Burrow was and it wasn't in Muggle London. She had heard Percy Weasley ['An honorary Riddle,' as Lucius Malfoy put it. He was even a death-eater. Aquila never really considered him a Weasley. He was just another Death-Eater of Voldemort] talk about the location in their most recent meeting. She saw Scorpius slip his hand into James's, giving it a squeeze. Aquila copied his movements and held Albus's hand whose tears were stinging his recent wounds. He didn't complain about it because the pain in his heart quickly shadowed the sting of his cheek. They were met halfway to the Headmasters office by Draco and Delphini.
Delphini hurriedly reached out to the Wotters and pulled then in a tight hug, "I'm so sorry. She will receive a proper funeral. I promise," she whispered. Albus nodded slightly before pulling away. "Professor Malfoy will Apparate you there. I'm afraid the floo network is under surveillance. I have managed to convince the headmaster that you are being sent to St. Mungo's for memory alterations because you managed to find things that you were not. You were punished with 3 Crutiatic curses each and sting and cutting hexes. Please form you alibies accordingly," Delphini informed looking at the Wotter. Her gaze shifted to Aquila and Scorpius, "As for you, the both of you are currently in St. Mungo's because Albus and crew jinxed you pretty badly." The crew nodded as they held onto Professor Malfoy. "You sure you'll be able to Apparate so many?" Delphini asked. Draco nodded before closing his eyes. With a soft crack, the eight were transported into the small kitchen the Burrow.
You could tell by the atmosphere, that something had gone wrong. The adult's heads perked up as they ran to their respective kids, embracing them. Sobs and tears filled the room and the Black descendant's hearts sunk beyond a simple depth. Albus let go of his parents and dejectedly sat on a wooden chair. It seemed hours had passed by the time everything had partially settle down. Albus was tangled with Aquila, who tried her best to calm the boy, on one end of a couch while James and Scorpius were tangled on the other end. Fred and Roxanne were hugging each other on the dining table, Harry and George were sorrowfully drinking butterbeer, Angelina and Ron tried distracting themselves with a game of chess in the same room as the others, wanting to stay together, Draco joined Hermione, distracting her by discussing the different effects of the moonstone and Ginny was observing the game of chess.
A soft pop was heard in the same room everyone was in, Delphini had Apparated to the Burrow. Her face was a mixture of excitement, sadness and worry. She had a hot pink envelope in her hand that she kept close to her as if it were her kid. Aquila recognized that envelope. "Is that from your secret boyfriend," Aquila whispered, but over the dooming silence, her voice echoed. "You have a boyfriend?" Draco questioned quickly. A light pink dust settled on her cheek as she nodded, "She's coming here." "SHE!?" Aquila and Scorpius jumped. "Hey! I just said I was in a relationship. Ya'll assumed it was a boy," Delphini held her hand up in a mock surrender. "Wait she's coming here?" Hermione spoke suddenly, "Is it a Weasley!?" she shrieked. Delphini had a sheepish look.
Before anyone could retort, the door burst open. Bill and Charlie burst through the front door, "Tell me it isn't true." Delphini looked around and spotted a pale-like girl with white-blond hair, identical to Fleur's, the woman beside Bill. "Vicky," she breathed out. The girl's blue eyes snapped to Delphini's tall figure. With her tear stained cheek and a short sniff she ran to Delphini hand bolted into her arms. With instinct, Delphini lifted her up and settled them both in between the two younger friendship couple. Victoire clung onto Delphini after giving her lips a quick peck, oblivious to Aquila's shocked and dare I say, smug face. The grief for Molly death had piled on top of the shock of their relationship and no one seemed to have said a thing. If they were shocked, they were hiding it well. "I'm so sorry Vicky," Delphini whispered despondently. "It's not your fault. Don't you dare blame yourself," Victoire replied, sniffing as her body racked into sobs.
