The Sorting

"First years this way," a stern voice of the new game keeper, whose name Aquila didn't seem to remember, yelled. Scorpius and Aquila trotted along to the boats that were waiting. They were colour coded for the different ranks. Gold for ranks 1, silver for rank 2, bronze for rank 3 and brown for rank 4. There were very few Rank 2 boats because most purebloods were from death-eater families. Aquila had zoned out for most of the ride. She wondered, just like the other kids, which house would she be sorted into. She wanted either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. She knew how spacious the quarters were at Ravenclaw. for ranks 1 and 2 anyway. the towers for each house were separated between Ranks 1 and 2 and ranks 3 and 4. The former had more luxuries. But she knew she would be Slytherin, no questions asked. she is Voldemort's daughter. Even her sister was a Slytherin, at least she thought so.

Soon they were ascending the numerous stairs before they reach the top, where Draco Malfoy was standing, smiling pure heartedly at the dozens of terrified children. "Welcome new students," Draco began, "to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Now, when we go inside you will be taking, a test per say, to determine the house you will be residing in. There are Gryffindor, know for their bravery and courage, Hufflepuff, known for their loyalty and friendship, Ravenclaw, known for their cleverness and Slytherin, known for their ambition and cunningness. During your time at Hogwarts your house will be your family. Do good deeds and you earn points, do wrong and you loose points. Come on now," Draco said as led the students through the great hall.

Aquila watched the Gryffindor table, specifically James who sat besides a boy with vivid red hair. They were scanning through the crown no doubt for Albus and Rose. The Sorting Hat was sitting on a wooden stool. Its rim opened, almost like a mouth as it sang,

'Hogwarts, Hogwarts Hoggy warty Hogwarts, teach us something please,

Let us now see which house in which you might squeeze,

It could be Gryffindor who are courageous and brave,

Or Slytherin, power they crave,

Or Hufflepuff, kindness they seek,

Or Ravenclaw who are clever throughout the week.

Don't be frightened by what house you reside,

Because your housemates will be by your side.

A house should stick togther like glue,

For your house does not define you.

So, don't be afraid Harrius,

Come and join us.'

Draco looked at the sorting hat with wide eyes as it recited the last two lines as did Aquila. Nobody but Aquila's family (except Voldemort) knew her middle name. People just shrugged it off as the Sorting Hat being crazy. Draco quickly recovered from his shock and cleared his throat, "Now, I will call you names and you will sit on the stool. The Sorting Hat shall be placed on your head. Longbottom, Franky."

The hall went silent as a girl with black hair shyly sat under the sorting hat. "Hufflepuff!" it yelled immediately. The corresponding house's table cheered. "Weasley, Rose." The hall went silent again as whispers rang through the hall. 'A Weasley? does that mean a Potter is here too?' Aquila heard one say. The hat barely touched her head before the Hat yelled, "Gryffindor!" The cheers bounced off the wall.

"Malfoy, Scorpius," Draco smiled as his son sat under the stool. "Interesting," the Sorting Hat murmured, "I would put you with the snakes but you are quite a lion, I must say. Very brave, friendly."

"Not with the snakes?" Scorpius asked.

"Gryffindor!" the hat yelled. The hall went abruptly quiet. Draco looked just as shocked. A Malfoy in Gryffindor. Who would've thought! Scorpius let out a sigh of relief as his father's face cracked into a smile. He got off to the table, not before glancing at Aquila's worried face. "Potter, Albus!"

'Albus? Like the previous headmaster?' one whispered. "Gryffindor!" the Hat yelled immediately. Albus sighed before joining his brother and the new blond. "You did great Mini Malfoy and you too Albus," James whispered to the new recruits. A few other names were called. Three Slytherins, One Hufflepuff and two Ravenclaws. "Riddle, Aquila," Draco called. The hall went silent again. Aquila bravely sat one the stool and the Hat was placed on her head, "Ah! Hello Harrius," The Hat murmured so quietly that only she could hear him, "Difficult. Just like the one you were named after. You have an intelligent brain no doubt, but you don't use it for your own pleasure so Ravenclaw is off the mark. You have a sense of justice, but you aren't patent enough to be in Hufflepuff."

"of course I'm patient!" Aquila whispered, offended but the Sorting Hat Ignored her, "Ambitious, yes, but not cunning enough. So not Slytherin," Aquila realised what was about to happen and braced herself, "Gryffindor!" The hall was yet again, silent. 'Another Riddle in Gryffindor,' a fellow Gryffindor girl spoke. She looked like a seventh year. 'Another,' Aquila thought as she glanced at her sister. She noticed her Headmaster's cold gaze towards her. He stood up as Draco finished the Sorting.

"Welcome, fellow student and... blood traitors," his cold voice blew, "to Hogwarts. Before I, your Headmaster Rudolphus Lestrange, begin the feast, I would like to introduce you to your Head of Houses. Head of Ravenclaw house, Professor Filius Flitwick, a Ravenclaw Prefect of his fifth year and Headboy of his seventh year and Professor of Charms" cheers from the Ravenclaw Table echoed as a stout man bowed sorrowfully. It was clear he didn't like the school like he used to, "Head of Hufflepuff House, Professor Pomona Sprout, her fifth year prefect and award winner for her gardening skills and Professor of Herbology," a stout woman beside the Charms Professor stood up and bowed with that same sorrowful expression, "Head of Slytherin House and Deputy Headmaster, Professor Draco Malfoy, his fifth year prefect and Slytherin seeker while his time at Hogwarts and Professor of Potions," Slytherin erupted into cheers as Draco stood up and bowed, "And on the account of the tragic execution of the head of Gryffindor last year," 'What execution,' Aquila wondered, "Your new Gryffindor Head of House, Prefect of her fifth year, head girl of her seventh year, captain and keeper of her house quidditch team and your Dark Arts and Defense Against Jinxes Professor, Professor Delphini Riddle."

Aquila looked at her sister in disbelief as the Gryffindor Table surprisingly cheered the loudest, especially the seventh and sixth years. Her sister was in Gryffindor. Aquila couldn't believe it. "Let the feast begin," Rudolphus's cold voice boomed as House Elves brought out different plates out for different people. Aquila's was by-far the fanciest, roasted steak, mashed potatoes and warm and fresh tomato soup.

She looked across at the Potter brothers' plates and found something the least appetizing to her. mashed potatoes with some sort of porridge (?). Aquila frowned as her sister approached the table with her plate. "You did NOT tell me you were a Gryffindor!" Aquila yelled angrily. Aquila ignored her to a certain level as she turned to chat with a seventh year. "I knew you'd make it," the seventh year said, "I'm happy you're our head of house."

"You were always like a big sister," another seventh year said. Delphini just smiled and at her food. She winced when she saw Aquila's mad face.
