Friends and Family Values
Draco
I was able to seat Mercy with me and my friends. I was silently hoping that they wouldn't be teasing her and would act normal. I've come to notice that Mercy prefers structure over chaos so I'm afraid that they'll scare her off.
"Hi! My name is Mercy Sable!" She enthusiastically introduces herself. Pansy shakes her hand. "Weird, I can't see your future. Or even your past." Dammit, Pansy. Why can't you be less vague! Mercy only shrugged her shoulder, taking the weirdness in stride. "Draco always asks me why he can't read my mind. So I guess vampiric powers can't affect me." Pansy nodded in agreement. "Well, I'm Pansy and that's Blaise." Blaise held his hand out and Mercy shook it. She grinned. Pretty happy to meet my friends. "So, tell me about yourself. Since I'm not able to tell for myself." Pansy asked.
Here it goes
---
Mercy
"Oh, well. I moved to Spoons because my mom became a homicide detective. I have a pet snake called Slyther. I also have this scar from my forehead to my eyebrow." I lift my bangs to reveal the scar. Draco looked at me, horrified. You see this is why I didn't tell him, he'd start freaking out.
"Favorite colors are green, blue, yellow, and red. I also have an older brother but he's off to college at Harvard. I prefer tea over coffee and I have these weird obsessions with building computer keyboards and car stereos." She finished. Blaise grinned as Pansy gave her a sweet smile.
"Well, can you fix our car Stereo? It's a family car and we'd like to preserve it as best as we can." Pansy asked me. I nodded enthusiastically, finally something around this town that I can fix! "Yeah, free of charge."
"Oh no, I'm going to pay you, alright." She grinned. Sensing that I have to back down on this, I do with a nod.
"So, what was your first impression of this lucky sod." He pointed to Malfoy. "Do you want the romanticized version or the honest one?" I asked them.
"Honest." They said at the same time.
"Ok well, honestly. He seemed fucking weird." I started getting this out of my chest as they listened intently. Pansy broke out some kettle corn and shared it with Draco and Blaise. Draco only grimaced and Blaise smiled and took a handful of corn.
"So, the first time I interacted with him was when he told me that my voice was addicting to hear! And I was like: Is this dude trying to method act Romeo to understand the play? Who does this-" I had to calm down a little before I break into a whole Korean rant. "Ok, so I was weirded out. And the next thing he does was try to transfer out of the class we share. So I was like 'ok I'll just sit at a different table." Blaise and Pansy snickered like children as Draco hid his face in his hands.
"You know what he did? He forced me to sit with him right when I was about to switch partners! Isn't that so hypocritical- And another thing-"
"Ok ok ok, I get it I was socially awkward ok?" He stepped in before I revealed more. But at that time, Pansy and Blaise were still laughing and roasting Draco.
"Omg Draco, how do you even talk to humans like- We didn't teach you to be like that!" Blaise giggled. Pansy got something in too.
"Malfoy! That is the most embarrassing story since the 1985 Chuck E Cheese incident." My interest peaked.
"Can you tell me about that?" I asked.
"Wait no-" "Sure I can Sable!" Pansy grinned as she launched into a full story about the incident.
Draco
That whole lunch period was pure torture as Sable laughed along with Pansy and Blaise about how much of a git I can be. But it was worth it to have Mercy cling to my arm, leaning her head against my bicep.
"Your friends are cool!" She told me. I chuckled. Another check box is marked in my plan. I'm one step closer to making her fully mine.
"Yeah, they like you too, you know," I told her. She giggled, intertwining her hand in mine. God her soft and warm hand. It soothes me, it's a sounding board for my sanity. She looks up at me and grins. I want to see that smile forever. We entered the classroom.
__
A note landed in front of me, I opened it and immediately grimaced after reading the sentence
I bet I can make you happier than her. Maybe we should meet at your Volvo after school. I looked back to see a red-haired girl wave her hand at me. I only shredded the note up in my hands and quickly threw it away in the trash. As if she can be better than my Sable. How dare she. That girl better stays away from my car.
---
She was waiting near my Volvo. She waved and started flirting. Seriously?! Right in front of my girl.
"Hey Dray, why won't you ditch that girl and take me somewhere exciting." Before I interfered Mercy started talking.
"Why won't you ditch us and go to the mall to update your wardrobe. God knows you need better fitting clothes and a tangible fashion sense." The girl seethed as everyone jeered. What's happening and why am I falling for her faster than a falling apple.
"How dare you! Don't you know who I am?"
"I do, and I don't care." She coldly says, "You must be so insecure to try to steal other people's boyfriends. Tell me, were you loved as a child? Hm? Did you have a loving father? Hm? As if you can make him happy." She walked up and whispered in her ear. Something that I can't hear but her eyes widened and she backed away. The girl scurried away with a horrified expression. Sable only went back to my side. Takes out an apple and munches on it.
"Sorry for the inconvenience." She told me. I shook my head. "N-no don't worry." Fuck that was hot. My heartbeat was beating roughly as I shifted the gears and started driving us to my place.
During the drive, we had a jarring conversation about well, anything. "So, tell me, are you uber-rich as everyone says you are?" I only snorted.
"Yeah, do you have a problem with it?" I asked her. She shrugged. "I mean, I spent half of my life in a luxurious apartment and the other half in an old house, so I'm up for anything." She took another bite of her apple. I glanced at her lips. It was moist with apple juices and pouty. It was light pink with a deeper red color. It was small enough for me to mold my lips over hers. It's so soft and I can taste it like soft candy.
I have to keep myself under control as I pulled into the old baseball ring. We got out of the car and Mercy promptly went ahead to greet my mom and dad.
"Hi, my name is Mercy-"
"Mercy! Yes, I've heard of you. Juniper's kid right?" My mom asked her. Mercy nodded. "We're going to play a family baseball game so feel free to spectate or even play.
"Can I take up the bat first?" She asked my dad. He nodded as I took her by the wrist.
"No."
"Yes."
I rolled my eyes, "Fine"
---
I steadied myself, putting myself into batting position as Pansy warmed up her pitches. "Ready!" I shouted over the field.
She held her leg up and pitched the ball in the standard pitcher's stance. The ball was like slow-motion as I remember what my brother taught me.
Spot a side of the ball that you'd like to hit.
The small V of the red thread. I want to hit that.
Ok now line your bat to hit that spot.
I lined my bat in position.
And hit it by the count of 3.
1
The ball was halfway through the field.
2.
The ball was almost in front of me
3. The ball was in arms reach.
and I swung. The clang of the ball against the metal bat pierced my ear as the ball soared along the field and into the edges of the forest. I ignored the searing pain in my wrist and ears and ran as fast as I can. Blaise was chasing after the ball as I ran as fast as I can, listening to my brother's advice.
"Use the base markers to launch yourself out. The small momentum advantage is a make or break." I did just that, I used the bases as a stepping platform. I was a third away from homerun so I slid across the dirted path. I closed my eyes as my legs hit the base.
"Safe" I opened my eyes to see Narcissa smiling at me. I stood up. Everyone was looking at me, so confused at how I managed that.
Wait, I forgot that they were vampires. Suddenly my wrists flared up in pain. I groaned as I started cursing in Korean.

I scolded her as we xrayed her hand. "What the bloody hell were you thinking!" I seethed. How can that girl put herself in danger like that? She's mortal! She could die at any time. I could lose her in a heartbeat!
"It is fine-"
"No, no it's not fine! You can't just pull this Mercy. Compared to us, you're so fragile! What if I lose you?! What if I fail in saving you." She looked at me with a deep frown. She took my cheek in her right hand. I instinctively leaned and nuzzled into her hands. I was melting like putty in her hands.
"I'm sorry for making you worry. But I'm fine. I can protect myself." She told me. I have to calm down. Yes, she can. She can take care of herself. I smiled into her hands and give her hand a quick kiss.
So, she has a hairline fracture on her wrists, we need to put both in a cast. I sighed in stress.
The next few days were spent with me fussing over her. I put on and took off her jacket (Much to her dismay). I took her notes in English and I carried her backpack.
"Ok, I can carry my own backpack, Malfoy." she pouted, with those small and soft lips. I kissed her pouting lips. Kissing at the corners of her lips, I spoke softly.
"Love, you need to rest your wrists or they won't heal properly. Humans heal longer than Vampires and I want you to heal properly." She pouted even more.
Cedric and Cho sat with my friends. Blaise and Pansy were thrilled to make new friends and everyone was comfortable with each other.
"Damn, you were able to hit the ball with a vampire pitcher behind that? Remind me not to piss you off." Cedric said. "You should've seen it, she had this serious glint in her eyes. How did you manage that!" Pansy asked her excitedly. She smiles fondly. "Jay taught me." "Whos Jay?" I asked. An EX? Someone she used to love?
"My brother." She said. Sensing my jealous energy. I need to control that. "He taught me everything to know about Baseball while training me for softball. I was as good as him but I didn't get into softball. I'm more of a musical child." She told us childhood stories about her brother. Her eyes sparkled as she looked up at her older brother. "Yeah, he gave me this Varsity Jacket." She tugs at her cuffs. "and the patches?" Cho asked her. "Patches I collected from the places I've traveled. I traveled all over the world." She's so interesting, I wonder what her dad's like.

When I was walking home, I can sense the eyes that were watching me. I turned around and I can see a car with 4 people in it. I jogged away, probably thinking that it was just a lost car. But the car only revved up. I looked into the forest, trying to calculate a trail in my head if I cut through the forest and get to my house. In a count of 3, I leaped into the Forest.
While running I heard the car open and 4 people ran after me. I dodged and weaved around the trees. I hid against a tree as the group was behind that tree, looking forward. I took a rock and threw it in a random direction. The group instinctively dashed towards the noise as I started running to my house.
It was 2 hours later that I reached the comfort of my house. I opened the door and closed it. Locking and bolting it with three decked locking pins. I took a deep breath and called Draco.
"Dray." I whimpered.
"What happened."

Draco
I crawled through her window. I saw her crying on her bed. Rubbing the tears out of her eyes. I can smell a vampire's scent off of her quaking body. I rushed and took her face in her hands. I wiped the tears off of her watery eyes as I cooed. "Shhh, You're alright. You're safe now." She buried her face in my chest. I held her closer to me. Tightening my hold. I stroked the top of her hair as she sobbed into my chest. She was so scared, so helpless.
I'm never leaving her alone. Never.
We were lying on her bed, her face was still buried in my chest as she hugged my waist. I had my arms around her neck, cradling her head like a pillow.
"I-I think someone can help identify them." She told me. "Who?" I asked. Maybe it's Pansy.
"His name is Harry Potter." My eyes widened. Harry Potter. That daft idiot got to my Sable too? I can't hide anything from him. I tightened my hold as I pushed my lips to her neck. I whispered in her ear. "Absolutely no way." She sniffled. "Why?" I struggled to think up an explanation. I spoke from the heart.
"Because Granger broke my heart. She got me to fall for her so she can gather intel about my family. They had this bogus investigation into vampires. I don't wanna see them ever again." Mercy sniffled as she tightened her hug around my torso. "Ok, I won't mention it." I sighed in relief.
If I can keep her from them, from those cursed people, then I would be the happiest man alive.
--
A phone rang and I absent-mindedly answered it. We sat against the banister as Mercy slept, clinging to my arm. A familiar and hated voice rang through the phone.
"Sable? Ron saw you run through the woods so I was wondering if you were ok." I breathed. No, she's not going anywhere with them.
"Potter, I can never keep anything away from you." I seethed. A pause was apparent before he started speaking.
"Draco, I swear if you hurt her because of me." "Hurt her. Hurt her?! I'm sorry who's the victim here?! She's my girlfriend, she's my girl and I won't let you, the coward and the spy, ruin her and ruin my relationship with her. Tell Granger and Weasly to fuck off out of her life, or else you'll have to worry about me, trashing that horrible excuse of a boarding school." I whispered into the phone. I hung the phone up as I took a breath.
I slid down next to Sable and kissed her cheek and neck. I buried my mouth into the crook of her neck. She slept soundly as I relished in her scent and feel.
They won't take her away from me. Granger won't fuck this up for me. They're dead to me.
