Chapter 2
Severus groaned as awoke confused in the hospital wing. He opened his eyes to see none other than Harry Potter sitting there smiling at him.
"Glad to see that you are finally awake. I will go get Madame Pomfrey." Harry said.
Severus furrowed his brow. He tried to speak, but he couldn't get the words out. 'Why was Harry there? Did he not remember what Severus did? Why was he not locked up?'
"Oh Severus it is so good to see you awake. Harry here has not left your side. We were so worried you would never wake up. Now, just let me check you over. I am sure you have lots of questions." Madame Pomfrey said.
Severus nodded. Madame Pomfrey waved her wand and scanned him. "Everything looks alright. You are just a little dehydrated. Your voice should come back slowly."
"Thank you." He whispered. He then looked at Harry. "How? Why?"
Harry gave him a tentative shy smile. "Well, after everything I figured you were just trying to help me survive, and I did. We only won because of you. I made sure to let Kingsley know, he's the new Minister, and he cleared you of all charges. You are a free man. He even gave you a Medal of Honor. You are a hero, Severus. I don't blame you for what happened. You were forced into it. You had to keep your role as spy."
Severus was shocked. He could not believe it. How was all this possible?
"There is one more thing I have to tell you. And I know we never saw eye to eye and there is plenty of hurt on both sides, but I would like it if we could try to get along now. I am not the easiest person to know and neither are you. If you never want see me again, that is fine, I just wanted to let you know one thing before I left." Harry took a stuttering breath. "I am pregnant and it's yours." He dropped his eyes to the floor while admitting this.
Severus' eyes grew big. He didn't know how to react. He took in all of his feelings and thoughts about being a father, something he never planned, and being a father to Harry's child was another thing. He didn't mind that it was Harry, he was a beautiful young man. He just felt that he wasn't good enough for him, and too old for him. "I don't know what to say. I don't know what you want me to say." He said honestly.
Harry looked up surprised. "You don't have to say anything you don't want. Don't promise me something you don't want to do. You have the choice of being in their life or not. You also have the choice of being with me if you want. I cannot deny that is what I want, but I will not force it upon you. I will keep this child and I will raise them no matter what. I don't care for what the Prophet would say, or anyone else for that matter. I want to try and make this work, but if you don't want to that is fine. I just thought you had the right to know."
Severus digested all this information. He knew Harry was telling the truth. He always wore his emotions on his face. And if Severus was being truthful with himself, he wanted to try being in a relationship with Harry as well. "Harry, I cannot guarantee that this will end well, but I am willing to try."
Harry lit up with the most beautiful smile crossing his face. Severus was stunned. He couldn't help but smiling back. Harry leaned down and brushed his lips against Severus' with a gentle loving kiss. Harry pulled back smiling. Harry took Severus' hand in his. Severus squeezed his hand in reply. They had plenty of time to work out the finer details. They would work out together.
Six months later Severus proposed. They had a small wedding in the Great Hall ordained by Headmistress McGonagall herself. The staff, Weasley's, and Granger were all there to share in their most joyous day.
A few months later they had a beautiful baby boy. Two years later they had a daughter.
They lived happily ever after.
