The Announcement
It was almost time for the Christmas Holidays. There was about a week and bit left till then. I couldn't wait. Remus. Sirius. and James. Were staying here. Peter was going home. And so were all of the other girls. Which means. I'll be in my Dorm. All by myself. Great.
For the past two months. I've been getting more upset. It's only when I'm in Defense that I get upset. I could be having a good day. But. As soon as I walk into that classroom. I get pissed. And. By the time I'm get better. I'm in that class again. I hated Kilgore now. He always gave Remus dirty looks. Sometimes. He'll barely look at him. And pretend he's not there. Not even picking him. When Remus has a question. In fact. As we continued our lessons on Werewolves. Kilgore was getting mean about it. Anyone could see that he didn't like Werewolves. At all. And it was making me so pissed. I was about ready to blow up at him.
I knew it affected Remus as well. Though he never showed it. He pretended like it was fine with him. Like it didn't bother him. But. It did. He even told me to let it go. That it didn't bother him. And that I shouldn't worry about it. But. Of course. I didn't listen. Kilgore made me so pissed. And I wanted to scream at him. Maybe one day. And hopefully soon.
Currently. It's dinner. And Dumbledore was about to make an announcement. I. Was still brooding about Kilgore.
"Will you drop it? I've told you it doesn't bother me." Remus whispered to me. Making sure none of the other boys heard them. Though. I knew he was lying. He just didn't want to admit it. But. I wasn't going to push it. Not now anyways.
I glared at him. "I don't care. That teacher makes me fucking pissed all the time. And. I won't drop it. Not until he's either gone. Or stops hating on Werewolves. So. Don't tell me to drop it. Like I've told you before. I don't care. I'll do what I want. And you can't do anything about it." I whisper growled at him.
"You should stop. Many people don't like Werewolves. Why should you only care about Kilgore?"
"Because he's being shitty to my best guy friend. And nobody messes with my friends. Especially my best friend. So fuck off."
"You're stubborn." Rem shook his head.
"Slytherin. Remember?"
Before Rem could answer. Dumbledore stood up. The Hall went silent at once.
"Thank you all for the quick silence. I bet many of you are wondering what announcement I have for you." He paused. Looking over us. "Us teachers have decided to do a little House Exchange Program. What it is, is how you probably think it is. After the Winter Break, some of you, and you get to decide if you want to do it or not, will get Sorted again, but this time, into a different House than what you are in now. This will happen for two weeks. You will sleep in your new House's Dorms, spend your free time in the Common Rooms, go to classes with your new House, except if you are a Sixth and Seventh Year, eat at your new House's Table, earn and lose points for your new House, and much more. You have until Winter Break to tell your Head of House that you would like to participate. Let it be known, you may not sabotage your new House in any way, or go to your own House, you must stay in your new House for those two weeks. Chose wisely if you wish to participate. When we come back from Break, that evening, you will be Sorted into a new House. I hope that you learn something by this experience. Thank you for listening." With that Dumbledore sat down.
Instantly, everyone in the Great Hall was talking about the House Exchange Program. I thought it was good idea. Seeing how all the other Houses differed from each other. I might do it.
"Wonder how many people will do the Program." James said.
"I'm going to do it. It seems like a good idea." I replied.
"You're gonna do it? What House do you think you'll be in?" Sirius asked.
I shrugged. "Don't know. Probably Slytherin though." I looked at him. He nodded.
"I'm not doing it. I like Gryffindor and I don't want to be in any other House. Gryffindor's the best." James replied.
"I'm with you there, mate. I'm not doing it either. Though maybe I will and just lose a bunch of points for that House for a change." Sirius agreed.
"You heard Dumbledore, you can't sabotage your new House." Remus told Sirius.
"And how's Dumbledore gonna know if I'm sabotaging it or not?"
"If you suddenly lose a lot more points in your new House than in Gryffindor. I bet that might give it away." I answered. Rolling my eyes.
"Well, I agree with Aspen, I think it's a great idea. I'm gonna do it as well." Lily said. From right next to me. I gave Lily a high five.
"What House do you think you'll be in?" James asked.
"Maybe Ravenclaw. When I was first getting Sorted, it was choosing between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor." Lily answered.
"I just want to know how many from each House are going to participate." Sirius stated.
"Probably a couple from Gryffindor. A couple from Hufflepuff. One possibly from Slytherin. And the most will probably come from Ravenclaw." I answered.
"I sure hope Lockhart doesn't decide to do it. Imagine if he was in Gryffindor. I don't think I would last an hour with him there, let alone two weeks." James shivered at the thought.
"I hope that no Slytherins make it into Gryffindor and hopefully they're not in our Year. We might have to share our Dorm with them." Sirius added. Glaring at the Slytherin Table.
"Oh, come one. Not all Slytherin's are bad." I said.
"Name some that are not bad." Sirius told me.
"Slughorn isn't that bad. Andromeda Black. Though I think she's a Tonks now. R- I mean. The Great Merlin himself. And many others that have passed through Slytherin over the years." I caught myself. Before I said Regulus Black.
"Ok, now name people who were not in Slytherin, who went bad."
(A/N: I'm using a name generator for these next names, since some of the people who where not in Slytherin weren't bad at this time, and I don't know who was bad from other Houses at this time.)
"Regan Cole. Amory Hodgson. Kerwin and Lucky Sutherland. Kierce Collins. Dre Tickner. Bowie Cohen. Conwenna Jacobs. Dolores Abraham. Would you like me to continue?" I finished. I would have added Peter Pettigrew and Quirrell, but they weren't evil now and I couldn't tell them they were going to turn to the Dark Side.
"Ok, you prove your point. I still don't want Slytherin's with us." Sirius muttered.
"But, Slytherins do produce the most Dark Witches and Wizards. You can't argue with that." James stated.
"True. I'm just saying that not all Slytherins become Dark. Some come from all Houses. Even Hufflepuff. Though they produce the least. Not everyone is perfect." I stated. I hate it when people talk bad about Slytherins. Like we're all evil. And can't be trusted. I just hate it.
"Ok, then. Also, about this Program, if you do do it, Aspen, you have to make sure it doesn't interfere with full moons." Remus said.
"It doesn't. This months is two days before Christmas. And next months is towards the end of January. Those two weeks won't effect it." I told him.
"Ok, then. You should do it. Get a break from us 'troublemakers' so you say." Remus smirked at me.
"You guys are troublemakers. You boys are almost always in detention. I usually try to stay away from you four when I think you'll get detention. Though. I think at some point. You boys will get me detention. And then you are gonna get it." I play growled at them. I still think they will get me in trouble one of these days. And then they will break my streak of no detentions. "Yeah, I'm definitely doing it."
"That hurts, Aspen." James and Sirius said at the same time. Putting their hands over their hearts.
Remus chuckled. "Well, good luck with that. You can count me out of the Exchange Program. I'll stick with these guys."
"You see, this is why Remus is the best. He won't ever abandon us or betray us. Ever. Unlike some people." Sirius gave a short nod. He's right. Remus won't betray you. But Peter will.
"I did that one time." I rolled my eyes.
Sirius stuck his tongue out at me.
"Real mature, Sirius. Real mature." I rolled my eyes again. "To think you are considered an adult. And you're still acting like your six or seven. What a shame." I shook my head at him.
Looking around me. I saw Professor McGonagall a few seats down. Sternly talking to some Fourth Years. Who had been throwing food at each other. Once done. She started walking back to the Staff Table.
"Oh, Professor McGonagall?" She turned to me. "I was wondering if you could put me down for the House Exchange Program?"
"Of course I will, Miss Wolfe." She nodded to me.
"I'd like to do it too, please, Professor." Lily said.
"Certainly, Miss Evans." And with that, she walked away.
"Yay. We're all set. I can't wait for the new year." I said. Lily agreed with me. The boys just shook their heads at us.
I wonder what will happen once I'm in my new House.
