Behind These Bars
When Molly makes the remark about putting bars on Ron’s windows, Harry tries to convince himself that she’s just playing. Late that night though, he worries that maybe she was serious and heads downstairs when he hears her still up and cleaning.
As he enters the kitchen he startles her but she recovers quickly. The following conversation occurs:
“O, Harry, dear, what is it love?”
“Please don’t” Harry whispers
Molly starts forward, thinking that Harry has had a nightmare but stops when she notices how he’s tensed.
“Don’t what, dear?” Molly whispers, brow bunching up.
“D-d-don’t put bars on Ron’s windows…” Harry mumbles and Molly laughs in spite of herself.
“O, dear, I wouldn’t. I just wanted him to realize how silly it sounded and a-“ Molly starts and then stops as she notices Harry’s crying.
Moving forward, she settles her hands on Harry’s shoulders and almost cries when he tries not to jump.
“Harry, this is very important, are there bars on your windows?” Molly questions and Harry nods, trying to stop crying.
What happens from there is up to you.
