Fairy of Light and Life (Part 1)
Opening my eyes I could see a blur of grey topped with golden yellow. I could feel droplets of rain hitting my face, and the blanket I was wrapped in was growing wet… there was an odd smell of Sulfur in the air… I tried opening my mouth to say something but all that came out was blubbering. Where were my teeth? Why did my tongue not work how I will?
Morpheus pulled at my consciousness, pulling me into dreams of Eorzea.
It took months before I could stay awake for long periods of time. In that time I saw several people tending to me in turn. Most of them wore the same clothing, so I guess they’re maids or something? They cooed at me in a language I didn’t know, but it sounded almost old English like. There was one man that shocked me to the core to see… that wavy pale grey hair… those white robes with a black fur collar… golden studs along the seams, and a crimson under robe…
King Barbra Liones from the Seven Deadly Sins…
Shit…
Did I get Isekaied?!
And into a land of magic?!
Meliodas walked in after him only confirmed my suspicions…
Growing up went rather pleasantly, especially since I didn’t have to worry about the weak ankles of my previous life. The second I got the chance I began reading and writing notes. The first several books were admittedly rough since I was still only a young child and hadn’t mastered my motor skills yet… The magic here was fascinating and rather unique from other interpretations of magic that I’ve seen.
Everyone here is born with one special spell-like ability, and to use other abilities requires one to draw on another person’s power or to draw on a magic artifact. I hope to find mine before the main storyline to begin but I’m kinda scared if it’s the angelic magic of the original Elizebeth. That might be detrimental to my health to have…
The Seven Deadly Sins…
I met them one by one…
I had A bag full of notebooks over my shoulder.
As time went on I found my body changing slowly… small cobalt blue bone like nibs behind my ears, red freckles appearing all over my body… all little things that felt odd.
I tried not to worry about them though as I ran to the library like every day. I scoured the books on every bit of information I could find on the races across the land and of the regions.
Today though, I met someone in there. The royal library was almost always empty. Only when the royal advisor was looking for certain files or my sisters were looking for a book to read did someone enter this library. Yet now… there was a tall woman with slick black hair. She wore a tight black dress with purple robes parted in the front. Her eyes were two beautiful orbs like polished Imperial Topaz. Merlin herself…
“Who are you miss?” I asked of her, eyes alight with curiosity.
“Hello child,” she said in that voice of hers, “I am Merlin, and who might you be?”
“Rubicante,” I said without hesitation. If I want to change this world, I definitely didn’t want to associate myself with the Goddess race.
“That’s an unusual name,” Merlin commented, looking over the child before her.
“It’s not my real name, but I like it a lot more than that name~” I said with a bright grin.
“Oh ho~” Merlin hummed, “so then, what brings you here little Rubicante?”
I brought around my book bag and went through it to the book on the Holy War. I could tell the other books intrigued her greatly as I flipped passed them carefully so the pages wouldn’t tear. I really need to find a more durable material for the pages… finally I got to the holy war and showed it to her, “I’m trying to find out about this. I dunno why the goddess race hates the Demon race so much and Wanna know more,” I said softly, “but… I can’t help but wonder why the Goddess Race was seen as wholly good…”
“Wait… why would you be wondering that?” Merlin asked, caught off guard by such a young child would be asking such things.
“Because everyone seemed like they had their goals,” I replied, “the humans were meanies that didn’t like the other races… the goddesses just wanted the land for themselves… the fairies wanted to protect their home… and the giants were protecting the earth… so why did the Demons fight?” She asked.
She pat my head, “you’re too young to learn that,” she cooed, “how about something else for one of your books?”
That was how I became the apprentice of the Merlin, legendary Sorceress that she was. She looked at my notes and helped me expand them with the knowledge of this world. My sketches of certain characters did confuse her though. I couldn’t help it, I wanted to remember certain faces… Gowther was a big one though, since he was my favorite character in design. I hid the pictures not long after she saw them, citing that I saw them in a dream…
Next sin I met… he was an interesting one too… a young fairy snuck into the castle. He had hair like a brown bear, short and orange brown. His eyes were like two topaz. He looked like a child, and was dressed in crude leather clothes. He was rather cute with the way he poked his head around corners and looked around cautiously.
I snuck up behind him and yelled, “BOO!”
Ah the scream he made was delightful! It made me fall back in a laughing fit. When I finally stopped laughing I wiped away my tears and looked at him, “your scream is cute~” I purred.
“Hey! I am not cute!” He snapped.
“Why wouldn’t you be Alichino?” I asked merrily.
“Wait, Alichino?” He asked.
“Well you make me laugh like a court Jester~” I said merrily.
“My name is King!” He huffed.
“And? I’m a Princess,” I said confidently.
“You? A princess? As if!” He huffed petulantly, “I’m the Fairy King!”
“I’m the Princess of this Kingdom!” I said pridefully.
On and on we argued until he yawned tiredly.
“You’re tired?” I asked curiously.
“Well yeah… I was flying for hours to get to this city…” he yawned again.
I grabbed his hand and dragged him to a guest room, “here, you can have this room. I’ll tell the maids that you’re in there, so they won’t bother you while they clean the dust from all the rooms,” I said with a confident grin. I then ran off to tell the maids.
He stuck around for about a week, mostly just people watching. It’s like he’s never been in such a large kingdom before…
One day I got up to the tower he was watching from and called out, “Alichino?”
Immediately his head poked over the side and he glared, “my name isn’t Alichino!”
“Well there’s only one King in this Castle and you aren’t him,” I huffed.
“So what if I’m not a king? My name is King!” He huffed.
I grinned cheekily, “who would name a kid King when you’re in a Kingdom?”
He huffed, floating off to somewhere else.
I saw him often around the castle, mostly just people watching. Other times I saw him in his Seven Deadly Sins armor and couldn’t help but laugh at how ridiculous the armor looked on him. Although part of it was because of the fact that his human disguise looks pretty ridiculous.
Then came my first encounter with a certain doll we all know and love. I was in Merlin’s tower and she was showing me how to make a healing salve. There was some kind of big fight off to the East and many of the soldiers had come back injured, so the King had asked Merlin to provide some way to heal the men. I just so happened to be listening in from a passage way hidden behind the throne and later ran to Merlin’s tower to ask to help~
We were in the middle of adding in another ingredient when I heard the door open. I added the last of the Star Grass slowly before looking over to see who had entered. There stood a towering suit of armor. The Deep Purple metal, those sharp goat like horns, and those spiky pauldrons. “You recognize him don’t you?” Merlin asked.
I looked to her, “yes… it’s like a long lost dream…” I said softly.
Merlin nodded, “after I had seen those sketches of yours, I had sought out to see if they were of a real person. As you can tell, I have found my Quarry,” she hummed, looking very proud of herself.
“So that’s him?” I asked, eyes slight with curiosity.
“Gowther, why don’t you introduce yourself?” Merlin asked the towering armor.
“Greetings, I am Gowther of the Seven Deadly Sins,” they replied, nodding to me.
“I am Rubicante, apprentice to lady Merlin,” I hummed, bowing to them.
Merlin chuckled, “your salve is going to burn if you don’t pay attention~”
I let out a startled eep as I went back to the salve.
