Chapter 4
Hermione:
Hermione was hard at work studying in the library, hoping to find a spell that can, well, show who’s gay. Sure, there were some straight ships around Hogwarts, like Cedric Diggory and Cho Chang, but others - like Ron’s - and their star substitute player, Ethan Ashford, is also gay.

A few minutes before heading towards the library, she stopped by the Hospital Wings and asked for a visit for Ethan. Madam Pomfrey let her in and told her not to cause too much noise or she’d be kicked out. Hermione took that warning and kept it in mind. “Hey,” Hermione said, walking over to her injured friend.
Ethan’s injuries were far worse than a broken arm - he was also sick with a high fever. “Hey,” he replied softly before coughing again and having another guy on the opposite side of him pat his back.
“How are you feeling?” Hermione asked, sitting down on a nearby chair.
“Been better,” Ethan replied, yawning, showing his pointed teeth. What did she know about Ethan? Hermione knew that he was a half demon and half muggle. Or a mortal, for what he likes to call it.
“How’s your arm?” Hermione asked, looking at his arm, which currently had a cast on it with hundreds - if not thousands of signatures from other students who were considered a friend to him.
“It’s hanging,” Ethan replied, moving it slightly to a more comfortable position. “It was better than the last time we saw it.”
“Which was just 2 days ago,” the boy from the opposite side of Ethan’s infirmary bed said. “My name’s Rowan Glimrose, by the way.” He tries to extend his hand over Ethan’s resting body, and Hermione takes it to shake. “Hermione Granger,” she introduced herself.
“You two look ridiculous just by shaking your hands,” Ethan said bluntly.
“No need to be so harsh, Eth,” Rowan retorted, pulling his hand out of the shake and then putting both up in a surrendering position.
“When did he get cold?” Hermione asked, also backing away.
“He’s always like this whenever he’s sick - a whole new grumpy person,” Rowan sighed heavily, burying his face in his hands.
“Oh, come on! I’m not that bad, am I?” Ethan asked with puppy dog eyes, something Hermione noticed whenever he trusts somebody else with his life.
“Sorry, Eth, but you are just as bad as a toddler when you’re sick,” Rowan retorted, booping his nose, causing Ethan to go back into a grumpy state.
“I will kill you,” Ethan huffed, lying down as he pouted.
“You love me too much for that matter,” Rowan mused before looking at Hermione. “There are two different meanings to that sentence, Mione.”
“Oh. OH.” It took Hermione at least 5 minutes to realize they were dating. The stars aligned perfectly: the puppy dog eyes from Ethan, the nickname Rowan gave Ethan - and he is the only one allowed to call him that - and the way they interacted with each other.
“This isn’t the best timing to tell you. . . ,” Rowan said worriedly, which she understood. He was talking about her homophobia, how she hated to see two guys or two girls being a couple and being all lovey dovey.
"No - no, it's quite alright," Hermione said quickly, but she knew deep down inside she still hated gay ships with a burning passion. But she isn't getting risked kicked out of the Hospital Wing for making too much of a reckus. "I'm just. . . not used to it."
"My parents aren't that supportive either." Rowan admits, putting a hand on Ethan's casted arm. "Not too long ago, I came out to them to say that I was gay and everything and already have a boyfriend – it didn't go as well as I hoped for."
"It went the opposite," Ethan retorted. "Lots of screaming from Ro's traditional parents and lots of asking for him to break up with me."
"If I did – he'd lose his entire life – he doesn't how to go on without any sort of romance involved," Rowan explained, shooting him a grin.
"Fuck you," Ethan said, smacking his boyfriend on the shoulder with his free arm. "I can handle myself just fine."
"Love you too," Rowan said sarcastically, rolling his eyes, seeing Hermione pick a colored pen from the side table and Ethan let her sign his cast: Hope your arm feels better soon. Hermione J. Granger.
